I have spend the last weeks testing all. I would suggest buying the Allfate from the vanguard and roll it with max balance, and hidden hand and whatever else you like (third eye or outlaw are nice).
That's a nice placeholder till you get Hopscotch Pilgrim. I run the Pilgrim now with hidden hand and max stability (on my lock). It's my favorite primary now. A high impact Pulse with max stability is brutal. It nudges out The Messenger for me personally. That extra bit of stability is noticeable.
Another nice one is the Timepiece from VoG. A true classic.

Hopscotch is good but i personally dislike the low ROF. Allfate with max stability (is that possible?) is better for my tastes.

Yep check out my titan. Perfect rolls. Max stability with outlaw and hidden hand. It is a laser but the range is less than the Pilgrim. And of course 3 bursts to the head not 2. If you rather fire faster and are confident in your aim.

Between headseeker and hidden hide which is better for pvp? Personally I think max stability is overkill. Check out my rerolled allfate. I'm pretty satisfied with it. Hidden hand and third eye. I used to have an allfate with head seeker.

It depends on your style and prefered range. Short to mid you don't need max stability. Mid to long to difference really makes a difference. I'm an avid MIDA user so I'm used to using my primary for long range shoutouts. At this range that little difference in stability between the messenger and pilgrim is really noticeable. Both work of course, but I love the feel of a max stability Pulse. And hidden hand with third eye sounds awesome. From everything I've read and watched (you know, info from the real pro's :) ) hidden hand is really strong on Pulse Rifles and combined with max stability helps draw all the bullets from a single burst towards the head.

Yea!!! Managed to get hidden hand with maxed stability! Check it out. Ran out of glimmer in the process lol. The other main perk was meh.

Have one on my Hunter with almost max stability. Like it better than the high impact ones.

Just run dragon strike. A really unreliable grind but it's the only way, apart from a Nightfall.
