Significance of keyed "117" in final Halo 3 Cutscene
Okay, we all know that MC's spartan ID number is 117, but i heard a rumor that the 117 scratched into the memorial at the end of halo 3 was by an unknown person/group of people...
Could it be the other surviving spartans, like Kelly? One of MC's best friends?

It won't have been anyone official. To keep morale, Spartans don't die, they are just listed as MIA. To scratch that number on the memorial would be contradicting that. It won't be other Spartans though, the game shall never feature any characters who appear only in the books. I'd lol if it was the Arbiter :0

Well, the carving is from a pelican wing, so you could think over where we've seen pelicans playing an important role in one of MCs missions.

Why are some of you so quick to dismiss the theory of it being the arbiter? afterall, they did fight along side each other in the end, so maybe they saw how brave and valiant a fighter the other was and he was honoring that. Who's to say Master Cheif wouldn't have done the same the arbiter died?

The Dyson (sp?) sphere will only open when the worse is over and will let the survivors repopulate planets again. Also, do not forget that Halsey mentioned that the times for the sentinels activation were lined up with the time of the activation of the first halo (though the Halo did not fire).
