I'm pretty sure the basis of matchmaking is dependent upon the regional area that you are playing in. This would be to reduce lag issues and improve overall game performance. Skill matchmaking then, would still only apply to other players in the same region.
And what "skill" is the game referring to (K/D, total wins, total kills, character level, etc)? Also, are game servers looking at your stats overall or simply the stats from your most previous match?
We'll probably never know...
Pretty sure there's no such thing, there's certainly no such thing in ToO. Just had another 15 matches in a row where all of them were against flawless try-hard teams that used the cheesiest tactics in the game. This would be ok if I and my team mates also had good PvP stats but we don't, we literally never play PvP and hardly know the maps. So what happens? We stop playing.
Now, seeing how we never get to face "normal" crucible players it would be easy to come to the conclusion that everyone but the biggest try-hards stopped playing trials. Here's the thing though, when I watch streamers it's not rare that they go up against total shit teams. So what gives, are they matching the best against the worst? My team has a combined 3K crucible kills, so why are we facing players with a total of 300K kills?
It should be noted that we're not losing all of our games but it's a constant uphill battle against people who seemingly can sniper all three of us as we're coming around the corner, people with grenade/gear strats so that going inside is out of the question, people who for some reason get their supers in round one, 0.5 second delay while being on green ping (100/100 fiber connection that is flawless in other games) etc.
Lastly, I've seen a lot of people post that ToO only matches based on connection, which IMO would be utterly retarded for something that is supposed to be the most competitive. That said, I'm pretty sure I read a post or news article from an employee in which he/she, on the topic of ToO, refered to matchmaking. Matching based on connection is IMO not matchmaking, it's just a given. I just don't get how they could go from H2 and H3 MM to this piece of shit.
Honestly, I think the better you are, the more of a chance you have of getting teamed with bad players. I guess they think this is the best way to balance it out, but it isn't. I probably only win 2 in every 10 matches because of the way this matchmaking works.
alrighty here is how it works. The high tech computer (fueled by space magic) looks at u and ur teams stats....then it looks at all the other teams stats in matchmaking. From there it puts on a digital blindfold and uses space magic to select a team from the eligible contestants to face you and hopes that the skill levels are similar. After one teams gets demolished in a landslide, the space computer then takes not of this for future reference in an attempt to make a better match up next time. After this process it repeats these steps in hopes of the outcome being different.
It wants u to win, It wants to help u, it just doesnt know what the hell its doing is all :)
It doesn't even seem to. I just managed to solo most of a doubles match because the person I was with got kicked for inactivity. If it did I shouldn't have been able to do that and still win with a 7.5 k/d by the end
