This Destiny is not the Destiny that Joe Staten and Marty envisioned.
What has become crystal clear to me these last few days is that the biggest issue with the pricing structure for TTK is that the $60 and $80 TTK bundles are what Destiny (or this version of) should have been from the start.
Whether the demise of the original Destiny lies in the hands of Bungie, Activision or both, there can be no dispute that as fun as the gameplay is and as much as we enjoy this world, [b]we were sold an unfinished game.[/b] Bungie can deny it all they want and they can make up all the stories they want of it all being part of their 10 year plan.
We went into Destiny with eyes wide open expecting a story, universe and adventure like nothing we'd experienced before. What they cannot rationalize away is that we dropped into that world and found silence, invisible ceilings, death zones, disjointed and shifting economies, mixed messages and ideals on weapon balance and leveling, infrastructures like vault space that could not hold up to actual game world demands and closed off areas that revealed we were only playing a portion of that existing world.
Over the last year we have paid for a beta that we've bug and stress tested. What is worse is that at each step along the way, we have had content restricted if we weren't willing to pony up for the next "expansion". The locking out of content amounted to virtual extortion. The complete lack of any in game means to access either raid or 90% of HoW endgame content, showed the utter contempt that Bungie feel for this community.
Now they want us to [i]repurchase all the content we already own[/i] to enjoy the "full TTK experience" and even after all the backlash from the Luke Smith interview, we're told that

I appreciate all the support this community have shown each other since the launch of the game. I have been both humbled and amazed by so many of you and I am so thankful for the chance to have gotten to know some of you a bit through these causes we've fought together for, but I'm sure most of you feel the same... at some point I just want to enjoy playing Destiny again.
Bungie, this game is supposed to be fun. It's supposed to be an escape from the reality of the ups and downs of everyday life. Except it's starting to not be fun anymore and it's time for you to make a decision. What is your motivation going forward?
Do you want to drip feed content and milk us for everything you can in the hopes that the content is addicting enough to keep us around? Or do you want to take the chance to try to create something truly great and build a living, breathing, social experience that we can all step into and lose ourselves in together?
The Destiny that was is not, but the Destiny that can be still is.
So who are you Bungie? The visionaries that dreamed up the worlds of Halo, who would play alongside us with your flaming skulls and who made us feel so much a part of that world? Or are you the condescending corporate lap dogs you've shown the last two months?
We don't want to fight, we don't want to be adversaries and I say with real sadness that many of us just aren't going to stick around to find out if you don't right this ship and show us that you give a sh*t.
You keep saying you’re listening, well it's time you start taking part in the discussion. We'll all see what you have to say in the weekly update tomorrow and I hope it's sincere, but words are cheap and we've seen your eyes and teeth.

It seems that while I was posting this, we have received part 1 of the weekly update. The answer to our anger and the olive branch offered as a sign that they are really, truly listening to us now...

If they went by League of Legends standards or something with a more reasonable business model, they would have done alright. But Bungievision is a nefarious money grubber who used a charity event to project how much we'd be willing to pay. This suggests we bought the content without [i]any[/i] regards for the cause we were supporting and solely the loot gains. It just sickens me to uncover this.

It's cheaper and easier and doesn't tax the wee minds of 'xecs or push creatives harnessed into thier money machinery. This is not the meaty sci-fi meal we were sold, but the warmed-over sizzle of a smooth + stylish shooter. They lack confidence even as they drip arrogance. Empower someone of stature like Joss Whedon to direct real stories -or- face irrelevance as Hollywood takes up these tools and captures real fascination. Enable something like Forge so Players can make and share content.

They built a fake world steeped in lore that provoked many artistic minds to contribute and create. The Halo live action, animated, and spoofs are all proof of this. Destiny, on the other hand, is disjointed, confusing, and vague. We are given an interesting concept but have it driven by a cliched explanation of light and darkness. While this cliche can be justified by interesting little details and underlying lore, we are left with a Grimoire - a shattered book of stories scattered throughout this empty world which must be read, not experienced. Much like Halo, we saw a heavy emphasis on PvP play with tournaments and sponsors flourishing on its foundation. Destiny, on the other hand, was promised to be an adventure to be shared within an ever growing community of like minds, gamers, and friends. Instead, we find ourselves wandering an empty expanse. We see our tools changed to favor the aggressive PvP community and as a result, are left to watch the cooperative element suffer. Our weapons do less damage, they are harder to aim, they can't engage enemies at distance, and after a long struggle with friends, our achievement of that RNG exotic is diminished by the complaints of lewd spoken competitors in a digital arena. First, our shotguns, then our fusion rifles, then the auto rifles, and now the hand cannons. In a player vs player arena, diversity and balance is key to an engaging, strategic, and competitive environment. In the co-operative world, this can also be said, but to a much smaller degree. There, it is fun, variety, and intrigue that prevails. While those who rip each other apart in the arena are finding it more "fair" as weapons are tweaked, those who are playing the shell of a story are finding their fun and intrigue destroyed. All that hard work for a Vex Mythoclast. All those strikes, raids, and missions for the Monte Carlo and Hawkmoon. All those motes of light, sharded Legendaries, and RNG governed drops damaged by a completely separate element of the game. I, for one, assumed Destiny was an attempt to put team play, co-operative play, and story at the forefront of its mind in comparison to all other FPS games which have a story, but emphasize PvP. I assumed wrong. Destiny is just another FPS game. Its story serves the purpose to get you started, but the designers and developers favor PvP. Destiny is no different than Halo, no different than CoD, and no different than Battlefield. The story is lost. The story is broken. The story is weak. Bungie, please buff your story. PvP game too strong.

I'll always have a soft-spot for them and all the hours my son and I had with Myth, Durandel, Halo... But the brilliant minds crafting those experiences have mostly cashed-in or moved on. This is an almost completely new crew. I regret to say that this bunch has been eating a lot of free lunches on the reputation of those pioneers.

Might have just a little bit to do with the fact that the only apparent way to buy any legendary gear now would be by playing PVP on that antiquated peer2peer. [spoiler]If Bungie follows their old numbers. Daily=2 legendary marks(weapons cost 150, meaning you can buy a weapon for 3.5 months of daily activities). Crucible=3 or 6 legendary marks (50 losses in PVP, or 25 wins) Strikes=Not in the description Public events= Not in the description Dismantling gear= 1 legendary mark (instead of motes, or 1 mark and 1 mote) So really Bungies again twisting in game currency production around PVP "again". Honestly The taken king will be the last chance I give destiny. It looked like it would be the best game ever but it just left me disappointed. After the Taken king And I'm done with destiny. And heres why: The content isn't there, the developers only seem to care about PVP, theres no challenge and the few challenges left are being "taken" away in 2.0, the "and finally the open world" is tiny. Yes I know destiny had a strong release but all that we saw was false advertising. But on the other hand look at DICE's Battlefield 4 they promised big and delivered on that promise. The theme nowadays is go big or go home, and so far destiny needs to go home.

I can't deny it anymore. This game has just crashed. There's a 99 percent chance that I won't buy The Taken King.I won't cater to tem. When I saw the trailer for Destiny what feels like forever ago, I thought, that game looks way to immersive for me, I'll get bored in the massive areas to explore. I could not have been more wrong. I just wish I could ask them why they decided to DESTROY this would be masterpiece.

Bump it did feel like an overpriced beta. They're selling the $100 worth of content that we played plus the $40 TTK for just what we payed for the original game. It is truly unfair that we are paying more than twice as much for the same, if not worst, experience.
