Because you only have so many shots before you reload. You need to land a few to kill 1 person. At close range, seen shotgun players rip Thorn users to shreds. Mid Range, seen fusion rifle users and pulse rifle users own Thorn users.... Long Range, Scout Rifles and Sniper Rifles dominate.
