I'm a little pissed about it. It's just the principle of locking out content so they could get more money through a partnership with red-bull. Another scheme to get us to spend our money and milk us dry. Still on the fence about purchasing TTK, a lot of other good games coming out. Oh well. What do others think?
p.s. checkout planet destiny for info:

Edit: Also to add I'm in the UK and it looks like this content might be region locked to the US mainly because the promo codes might not be available here. Pretty shitty of Bungie really....
Edit 2: Looks like other companies have started poking fun (props to nosworc for posting this):

Edit 3: OK so just a quick mention here - yes the quest will become available in January. But that is still a 3 month lockout period for people who don't want to buy a pack of redbull to get in-game content. I think people are missing the point around why I'm disappointed about this - it's the principle behind the fact they want to boost sales by getting us to buy a product not related in any way whatsoever to the game. Worse still the product is proven to be bad for consumers health.
I know other game companies do this, but really we are talking about halo and COD, so it's not like they need to do this to increase profits. Why not instead just have introduced a veterans collectors edition - that would have done wonders for their revenue too. No, instead they sell-out to redbull.

4 RepliesWould help if there was a 7/11 within a day's drive. I'd pour a red bull down the sink for a code.
-
i buy red bulls all the time, this means nothing to me. i didn't see everyone loosing there mind when they did this with Mountain Dew and Doritos for COD and Halo. No one is forcing you to buy a red bull. plus they are only 1.99$ big deal. Or what about the Halo King of the Hill promotion at 7-11 they did a while back too. It's a novelty promotion, stop complaining. Welcome the the world or cooperate america and business!

1 ReplyThe rewards aren't really that great, but Bungie/Activision could have chose something that isn't an energy drink. Especially since it's a promo for a teen rated game.

Edited by Mighty Joe: 6/24/2015 7:17:39 PMCouldnt care less tbh, if i hadnt got the expansion pass as a present i wouldnt have any of the dlc & i wouldnt have cared tbh. Destiny is just a time filler that i use inbetween buying/playing other better games.
-
How is it any different than PS exclusives lol
-
3 RepliesIf I can deal with having content a year after its original release(playstation exclusives) then what's the big deal waiting 3-4 months for a mission because you didn't wanna buy any red bull? If you have a problem with buying red bull to get it, wait. You don't need instant gratification.
-
Omg it costs 1.50 to get one. You don't have to drink it
-
It could be anything, but they chose an energy drink...
-
2 RepliesI'm pissed off but especially because Red Bull isn't healthy. Kids go to the hospital for drinking too much and tripping out. And Destiny is for 13 year olds and up... You and I (I'm in Canada) probably don't get the promo due to Red Bull not being allowed to market to children in our countries. My 2 cents: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/133030134

According to MoreConsole, the quest is another timed exclusive until December 31. Only the XP item is exclusive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfueMWxse_0
-
Edited by ZombieKami: 6/24/2015 7:08:42 PMIt's not locked out. It's early access. It's dated release is in January. Calm down.
-
I mean it's just another timed exclusive without the codes so whatever
-
Well when u drop half a million on a game for advertising u have to f with ur players apparently.
-
It's coming out for everyone on 1/6/16
-
What's dumb about this is that you can only get them at Seven Eleven & the nearest one is about 50 miles away from where I live <_<
-
Just go buy a Damn red bull, enjoy it, punch in the damn code and shut the -blam!- up!
-
Another move that is clear evidence they want us all to get cancer
-
The thing is other companies do the exact same thing they just hid it better, look at apple any one in the tech industry knows there scheme they put out a device every 6 moths just because they know people will buy it then they purposely increase the amount of resources there software uses and force you to update your device after so many years of updates you are forced to get a new device if you want to continue using it. This is economics this is the real world if you dont like it go off the grid and refuse capitalism.
-
So like, as with the other exclusive stuff, this new quest won't exactly be a game changing thing. It's probably going to suck. No skin off my back.
-
What do the codes do?
-
1 ReplyVertical integration, it's a business term. Look it up
-
Its amazing how stupid people are, expecting a business not to make money off their customers. Stfu already
-
Edited by Shag6: 6/24/2015 6:44:19 PMNo one has to buy a Red Bull. If no one bought them, this would backfire on bungie. However, many will buy them, which proves that bungie can get continue to do things like this. It's on us, the consumers. Don't blame McDonald's for your fat kid when you take him there 5 times a week.
-
Just quit already...
-
There not out to kill us. It's a business, and they need money like others. At least we get the exclusive quest in December.
-
Its one quest and its only locked till jan 1. Oh god the horror i must stop playing!
