What exact line in the interview is so disturbing?

I've read it a few times now, seems fine to me. I cannot take your complaints seriously when i don't even know what exact line is so bad. If you can't think of a line; if you don't even know yourself what is so bad, then everything you say is invalid. Edit: why is LS the face of bungie? All of you are making these assumptions that all of bungie is like. They probably realize in hindsight they sent a less than optimal guy, who is better at designing than talking.

Thst interview was stupid. We learned nothing other than the fact that Deej is better for questions. At least Deej doesn't give some half assed psychological scenario of being anxious to buy some dance emotes. The golf slow clap is worth like maybe $1.

      Multiple:
Eurogamer: Taken King costs £39.99, which is almost same as base game. Does its content justify that? Luke Smith: I'm going to use American dollars, because British pounds are just foreign to me...
I am in the UK. £40 is the price of a whole -blam!-ing game. Maybe they should be a little more aware on how the content value is being inflated here?
Luke Smith: If I fired up a video right now and showed you the emotes you would throw money at the screen.
This is just a douchebag line. Lemme translate for you fanboys - "We know our loyal players will want this stuff and pay anything to get it, so we don't give a shit we are making them pay for stuff they already own, as we know they are dumb enough they will buy it anyway." Edit: Just to reiterate my point here. For £40 I can buy Batman Arkham Knight NEW on PS4 from Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Warner-Bros-P4READWAR17054-Batman-Arkham/dp/B00IS6S7SU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1435093479&sr=8-1&keywords=batman+arkham+knight+ps4 Edit 2: Some sources... £80 for the collectors edition: http://www.game.co.uk/en/Destiny%3a+The+Taken+King+-+Legendary+Edition-668131?cm_vc=Prod_1 £55 for the legendary: http://www.game.co.uk/en/destiny-the-taken-king-collectors-edition-only-at-game-668151?pageSize=40&categoryIdentifier=875601&catGroupId= £40 for digital download: http://i.imgur.com/VJUzRq7.png

      • Well I just guess that Luke didn't read what was the packages in the press but in a meeting room with all the important dudes of bungie so his "voice" is not useless. Then if you read the last messages of Deej concerning eBay and stuff.. You can find some Luke style in Deej messages. Meaning they are all in the same boat and seems to agree about the direction.

OK people, enough is enough. Luke is not a raid designer. He is the creative director of TTK. That means more than just raids. That includes emotes, strikes, story, pretty much everything. Why would Bungie send a raid designer to do an interview when they are not ready to talk about raids? People are saying the interviewer was off topic. Please tell me what the topic was supposed to be then. Bungie is not ready to release any further information at this point and I doubt Eurogamer is getting the debut interview for a raid, a strike, or anything. This was an interview about what was announced. What has been announced? Preorders, prices, and packages. If Bungie or Luke thought that the interview would be about anything else, they would be stupid (which they are not). Plus the one question that mattered to the interviewer's audience, European prices, was flat out sidestepped. Bungie should have prepared Luke with an answer for that question. Every question the interviewer asked has been repeated on the forums ad nauseum. Bungie knows the questions and so did Luke. As the creative director of TTK and a former member of 1up and Kotaku, Luke should have done a much better job. Did the interviewer ask hard questions? Definitely, but that is kinda his job. If he didn't his audience would call him a sell out. Bottom line, Luke -blam!-ed up. Should we have expected answers to every question, puppies, and rainbows? Hell no. But basically trolling the interviewer was one of the last things that Luke should have done.

      • I read the interview this morning and I think there has been a huge over reaction. Yes the 'money throwing' comment was probably not the smartest thing to say. Clearly he was getting frustrated with the interviewer pressing the same stupid point. No one seems to be talking much about the final part of the interview. This seemed to be a huge positive for the loyal fans. But then again when have the fans ever been rational...

      • The amount of analytical autism and sensationalism surrounding the interview is hilarious to me. He was obviously being playful and people are just taking those words out of context from being butthurt over the cost. Our overseas guardians are the only ones who have a legitimate complaint for being charged 30% plus for the same content for no apparent reason. I'm not defending bungie's business practices, but if this is 2/3 the original game, $40 is justified. As for the extra stuff from buying all these special editions, who cares, seriously so what if some scrub no life power levels his way to max level in one day. Who cares if they got some fruity emotes, crap guns, and XP Boosts. They are not worth $20-$40 extra dollars. Vote with your wallets idiots, show bungie we won't stand for pay 2 win garbage.

        • Personally I think the interviewer, Tom Phillips, did a terrible job. He had no decent follow up questions and made no attempt to have a conversation. Then he lost control and ended up being the interviewee, and making even more of a fool of himself. As for what upset people: The "[Laughs]" when Luke laughed at the blatantly contradictory position that Tom was taking The "poke" at emotes when Luke turned the tables on Tom and asked an insightful question that exposed Tom's hypocrisy. The "comfortable" line where Luke asserts that Bungie believe TTK is priced correctly and that customers are free to purchase, or not depending on their own value assessments. So basically they feel sorry for Tom for being so pathetic, and they struggle to accept that Bungie didn't just make a price up but made a business decision based on their best analysis of both the cost of manufacture and the level of demand. Essentially it's all just weepy naivety.

          • After he's asked about packaging exclusive content, like the emotes, with all the current content including the base game, he has the gall to say that if he showed off one of the emotes that the interviewer would quote, "throw money at the screen." It's just bizarre how anyone could say hey we know you want it, so rebuy everything you have! Seriously, reread the interview and tell me that wasn't at least a little rude. It's basically him laughing in the face of he fans who want to support this game but don't feel like they're being respected.

The part where he said that we would throw money at the screen for the emotes? Fine, it's just a PR ass being a PR ass. The part where he brushed aside the $40/£40 thing? That's complete bullshit. Unless it turns out to be an error on Bungie's part, that is blatantly unfair to European players. Edit: So as I've found out, Luke is just a Raid designer they decided to hand over to interviewers, for whatever reason. Turns out there really isn't much to get mad at after all.

            • Just his reply to the first question is disturbing. Day one players will have less than the new people that are buying into a dying game and he thinks that's ok? This line - "specifically to really make it appeal to fans who have engaged with the game already" So he's saying that it has been created for original players to purchase the game again, and that is just to get more money out of them. You don't see anything wrong in Bungie's lack of loyalty? Eurogamer: So it may seem like a small thing but you're adding exclusive content to the game - three new dance emotes - that players can't get unless they rebuy the main game and the two existing DLCs. Is that right? Luke Smith: There is no way right now for you to get the new dance emotes without doing that. Those are Collector's Edition exclusive. We've set some stuff aside for that edition specifically to really make it appeal to fans who have engaged with the game already and also to people that will enter the game this autumn.

                • You can tell by the fact that when you call these people who are getting mad out, they either cuss you out or complain $40 is too much(which has literally nothing to do with being mad at Smith) that they are all 12 tear olds. There was nothing wrong with how smith handled that interview.
