Fair enough, I don't think any reasonable person expects fixes and improvements overnight. We know that Bungie plays the game, and while they may experience some of the things we see as problems, they don't see them the same way. They see them as working exactly as designed. And if they are also frustrated with the way things they themselves designed, then one of two things must be true. They are either not as proficient at design as they thought, or they don't care that it ended up that way. So the disconnect there is very real.
But as far as David's ability to effectively communicate with the community, he has been lacking. This is something I do for a living, so I have some vested interest in this topic. As I stated before, he gives off an aura of indifference when he is in the public eye. Something like he is simply tolerating that he is at yet another convention talking about Destiny. He should be so excited about what is happening. He should be giving off the perception that he simply can't wait to tell us all about the new content and how it complements the current content available. As it is, he does not engender any desire for me to play Destiny. It is popular because of Bungie's pedigree as a developer, not at all because David has helped bring it to life.

I could see that. It does make a difference as a developer playing your own game. I wouldn't say that was the fault of their own skill set as Destiny is entirely more ambitious than anything they've created before. It might be the same reason why they had development issues with Halo 2: They wanted to add too much too fast with not enough time to implement. Again, this is on four different platforms, so that's not too much of a stretch. I could see why DeeJ could appear as you say, and one of the things I most definitely agree with is that we're not seeing enough fire and passion from the developers in the trenches. If you watch the latest ViDoc, you can see that the passion is actually there! These guys do want to share all the information Tgey have on Destiny, but they're not allowed to say too much on it. What I think we all need is more ViDocs. Let's see more of that passion from more than the same faces we see all the time. I think that could go a long way to address the issue of Bungie appearing nonchalant as you say. :-)

Agreed! More Vidocs. Those were a highlight of the Weekly What's Update from years past. And yes, The latest video from them showed there are still a few glowing embers left in Seattle. As for the four platform issue, it is a challenge but devs have been doing that for awhile now and I feel it shouldn't be too much of a hill to climb. But to be fair, I truly don't know what it entails so I can only speculate. Here's something I've had such difficulty understanding. Bungie was very public with their displeasure of being locked in a publishing deal with Microsoft. They made it very well known how happy they were when they bought themselves out from under it and that they would finally be able to make the game they've always wanted to create. As soon as the required number of titles were delivered to satisfy previous contracts, they go dark to focus all efforts on their new IP. Then, the first thing we hear from them in years is that they've entered into a publishing deal with another company for their new title. What?! Did we not learn anything? Maybe you're right about biting off more than they could chew. If they find themselves not being able to make the game they want without help from outside, but they hate having help fro outside, maybe it's time to evaluate what you're capable of at this time. In any case, this has been a thoroughly enjoyable discussion. Something very rare around here. Cheers to you!
