That's your right, and we respect your freedom to make decisions about what you find valuable.
The Collector's Edition is mostly sold out, so the people who found that stuff valuable jumped at the chance. You'll likely see it sold on ebay for much more than what we're asking. But that's not the point. Right?
The real conversation here is: What are we doing to honor you, the players who have been bound to Destiny in this first year of action and adventure? I'm glad you asked. I'm going to answer in the Bungie Weekly Update.
Please stay tuned.

They blew all there budget on -blam!-ing advertisment of it and now trying to make that money back thats why it got ripped up and sold as dlc. I thought it was all activision. But truth is i think this is all bungie. They been planning this since the head writer left. This all a cash scam to make the budget back for destiny 2.

The more I think about that comment regarding the exchange rate for more angry I get. It was a big f#*k you to all of us here in the uk
-
You're a piece of shit
-
Sold out? They'll make more. It's bad business to sell out of anything.
-
I am with bungie on this one.. I really can't understand the level of strong reactions on this one.. Bungie created some and offered to sell it to you.. People decide it is too expensive and decide not to buy it.. Great..but then all the yelling and screaming about the reasons that they decided not to buy it? Meh.. Now I understand people's desire for a less expensive option, but all the screaming about it is not worth it. Also Luke Smith came off really really badly in that interview.. The design guy shouldn't be doing such interviews.. Deej should be.. I see it like this.. Sometimes when i go out I see the limited run Dogfish Head beer on tap with a price of $8-9.. I know I want it, sometimes I buy it.. Other times I choose to buy a less expensive glass of beer.. Never do I go in to a raging fit about the price of the special beer that I want and then threaten to never drink beer again...
-
I understand why these people are angry. It's not because it's too expensive, It's because we aren't going to re-buy our entire game and DLC only so we can get the exotic class items and emotes we've been exited about. I think that a boycott is over reacting but I agree with not exactly buying anything until we get convinced that veteran players are going to get more then just a middle finger. A good metaphor for the situation is " I have a nice car, a really nice car. But that car over there is just as good as mine but with better tires. Those are really, really nice tires. Can I just buy the tires? No, I'll have to buy it with the entire car. I'm not going to buy a new car and support this."

so... I got the white PS4 w/Destiny bundle. should I be mad that I would have had to re-buy the game to get the CE? no. because that's stupid.
-
Edited by Gen. Apathy: 6/24/2015 6:30:31 PMBut if the same bundle was sold, just omitting the original game and the dlc, but the price was still $80, people would still be upset.. To play off your car metaphor, it is like going to a Chevy dealer and asking to buy a Cadillac CTS-V, but just change the nameplates to say it is a Chevy Cruz, and then sell it to me for a discounted price
-
Not really, that's what traditional GOTY editions are mostly. Get the base game and get all or a good chunk of the DLC for a discounted price then what was sold on launch and I doubt many people would have an issue if that was indeed the case since these are made to provide incentive to people who haven't bought the game and can get all of it for less. However the issue with this edition is it's the GOTY edition plus content exclusive only to this edition and that is what has people all up in a fuss about. For those who have been around since day one and bought in when it was first released, it feels unfair that we would have to buy the game all over again just to get that special digital content only available for those who buy in with this edition of the game. I don't recall a game from memory who did this sort of thing ever, it's the sort of thing you add when the game first came out not later when a year has already passed though if I am wrong please feel free to correct me. Even then still is a bit of a cheap tactic by Bungie and/or Activision to do this sort of thing.
-
It really comes down to a value decision you as a destiny year 1 player have to make.. That decision is "is that exclusive special content in the collectors edition worth $40?" .. That is the choice that bungie is giving you. If they side-by-side offered two bundles, both with all of the exclusive content, one had everything, and one had only ttk, but both were $80, nobody would buy that edition... They offered you the content at the price they felt was "right".. Many people (including me) disagree with that valuation.. But at least in this case as a year one owner, I could go sell my original disk to Gamestop and get around $18 credit, reducing my cost to around $62.. I get the disagreement with their valuation of the special content.. But the screaming and carrying on about it seems over the top to me.. But whatever, this is an internet forum, and people will behave in strange ways on the internet..

Edited by septarn: 6/24/2015 4:56:27 PMThe problem is we don't buy games, we buy a license to play them. So in this case to get the extra stuff you must pay double for a software license we already own. So the true cost is only for that stuff we do not have.
-
The problem with the argument of "re-buying" stuff here is, if they simply offered the same bundle and only omitted the original game and the dlc that you don't want to "re-buy" but still charged $80 for it, you would not like that deal either...

Edited by HiP: 6/24/2015 6:42:19 PMThere is also another problem, the physical collector's edition get the digital bonuses and physical bonuses for $80, but if you check out the digital deluxe edition, it gets only the same digital bonuses *without* physical bonuses (obviously, being digital) for the same $80 pricetag. how can they justify that ? :) it creates a huge doubt in fans, bungie's greed with activision pushing behind them. also having enough details with all their editions for new players, we already know that the new content is at $40, and the legendary edtion at $60, so obviously, the new content *without* the original game and DLCs cannot be priced at $80. loyal fans will feel ripped off and betrayed, and legitimately so. * if the versions for the new players were not shown, then your argument of it being just new content with a too expensive bonus would be valid, but it is not, because of all the pricing information they shared. the interview added even more salt to the wound. some people even feel that the price reduction of current content is too much, compared to what they paid themselves, adding even more betraying feeling to the whole mess. :)
-
Yeah, of all the bundles, the Digital only special edition is crazy stupidly priced.. Buy it, or don't buy it.. They are offering you.the opportunity and the choice.. But hurting peoples feelings? That's the disconnect for me..
-
Gaming is a very passionnate entertainment (or time sink) for a big part of players. very strong feelings are involved. especially for this game that was marketed for fans of the studio, and riding on its reputation. even stronger feelings are embedded in it. then of course, when announcement does not meet the expectations of fans and loyal customers, people feelings are hurt. that's human nature :)
-
And there in lies the problem.
-
Deej tge problem I have as well as many others, are that the UK price that said for just ttk is £40 it's just not right and seriously need looking into. It's just 10 pound off of a full game! That's roughly $63-65!
-
On Xbox store (Xbox one) it is £28.99.
-
There is you perfect customer.
-
Hmm is it...... Too little, too late?
-
This is actually the first time I've seen good numbers of people pissed off about problems endemic to AAA developers/publishers. Who knows maybe bungie can pull themselves out of it if they can get over their stubbornness.
-
If u give to us something good I definetly will buy TTK but if u give us some shitty shader/emblem I will curse u and after that I rethink buying... I think I still buy it ;) but not for sure...
-
How about don't charge people in the U.S. And the UK considerably different amounts. This DLC is more than I paid for the basic game!
-
Thanks for the heads up, maybe these idiots will stfu now.
-
Those idiots, are the reason we're getting something better.
