I'm just going to leave this here. It speaks for itself, so no need for me to make any comment. Enjoy.
More fun!

Bungie as a whole doesn't understand it's player base. That or they think they can make the player base do as they tell us to. HoW was a disaster - they lost 50% or more of older players based on the number of my friends that have quit playing. Geared too much towards PVP which wasn't what Destiny was originally supposed to be. Bungievision decided to change direction and the player base is choosing to play other games. I haven't ordered TTK and probably won't. I've paid enough for more glitches than I can count. Things that have been glitched since launch - they don't fix anything unless it's a cheese. Destiny could have been a lot more... still could be... but in the end won't be... Bungie/Activision lack the vision and commitment to see anything through.

3 RepliesEdited by Matalis: 6/22/2015 11:44:36 PMTo loosely quote Luke Smith... "I think if people could see videos of people teabagging Luke Smith, they would literally be throwing money at the screen."

4 RepliesConsidering the forum is blowing up with this stuff, I'll take the time to pull out the interview portion and see what I feel about it:
Eurogamer: So it may seem like a small thing but you're adding exclusive content to the game - three new dance emotes - that players can't get unless they rebuy the main game and the two existing DLCs. Is that right? Luke Smith: There is no way right now for you to get the new dance emotes without doing that. Those are Collector's Edition exclusive. We've set some stuff aside for that edition specifically to really make it appeal to fans who have engaged with the game already and also to people that will enter the game this autumn.
So there is no new way of getting this without purchasing that expansion? Ok. Seems fair. Part of making those sort of decisions is about knowing where the market will bend or break to help make sure the overhead costs don't sneak and pile up on you.
Eurogamer: Well, yeah. I would rather do that - pay a few pounds or dollars or whatever - than spend money on things I already own. Luke Smith: [Laughs] Well, we have nothing more to talk about regarding your opportunity to spend extra money in Destiny, other than The Taken King and the three versions we've announced.
Text language is always so hard to interpret, but there's 2 ways that comment could have gone: #1. Luke laughed because that has been brought up, time and again and again and again, with the repeated warning, "They want that. They want that." and he laughed when it actually got stated or... he is laughing because he genuinely expected that response but still can't believe it got stated. Either way, the answer is: We have those three versions to choose from. Make a choice.
Eurogamer: Is Bungie considering selling customisation items such as this separately? Or is that against the studio's philosophy for the game? Luke Smith: Rather than comment on the Bungie philosophy, here's what I'll tell you. If someone made a golf clap emote, I would spend money on that. Like when someone falls in the Vault of Glass. At the moment I bow when I'm trying to mess with them. So... I empathise with some of the things you're saying.
Basically: I don't know what the future holds because I don't think about those things. I think and worry about other things. Like my job. And not the public relations part.
Eurogamer: I feel like you should put some of these things that you are empathising with into practice. Luke Smith: We have nothing to announce today. We're reading the forums and the reactions to this week's announcements. We will continue to discuss player feedback with respect to the the game and Collector's Edition content.
I get this attitude. It's about making sure players know we will always listen to the best ideas, no matter where they come from, and pull from the innovations and/or ways we want to shape the universe we built, but we also have to take those considerations into effect that what you want? You probably won't get. It's never personal. But if we don't look at the tables and see where it can fit? That's one idea you came up with, like the thousands of ideas we came up with, which has no place in Destiny. I know most people don't get the hard work ethics element present there. I only know it because I've never worked a solid pay job my entire life at 30+ years of age. You truly do learn to appreciate the hard work, detail-oriented, and result-oriented approach to things when you are so driven you work on something every day just because you want to work on it and make a living with it. It doesn't matter how big or small. It's about the grind of finding the absolute best ideas and making them work. If the idea is any less then that? It's not acceptable.
Eurogamer: Literally foreign. Luke Smith: Indeed, an ocean away. So, purchasers get a big, rich campaign. Fully voiced cinematics and the story of what happens when an angry alien god wages war on a solar system, all with a satisfying conclusion. You also have a new subclass to pursue and unlock. We also have a bunch of new strikes - we're not yet talking about how many - and a new raid. We're showing two new PVP modes and four PVP maps this week, and it's a fairly safe bet we're not done yet showing things off. So I'm fairly excited about the value proposition. We're calling this a major expansion because it is. We're giving people a whole new place to go, that new destination...
lol. That's definitely not what they wanted to hear. Gamers are good people don't get me wrong, but to tell them what is enough when they have most likely been conditioned to believe otherwise? Yeah. Oh well. Let the good times keep on rolling. For the record Luke, I get why you said that. It is a lot to build and maintain and upkeep for new gamers to not be completely confused on what the heck is going on because they missed out on the first year...
Eurogamer: I get that it is big but it is also the same price as the base game. That had four areas rather than one and more missions than the Taken King. Why is it the same price? Luke Smith: All I can do is answer that with the same thing I just gave you... We're really comfortable with the value we're giving to players this autumn. I believe that once we begin to share more, players will be even more excited. And for existing players it also comes with the Founder's pack with a new Sparrow, shader and emblem.
Players will always get more excited for new things. People never argue over that. Simple enough reality is we are going to have more strikes in this one segment of a game combined with the strikes players keep playing daily because those things are exciting. Still though. Gamers existed decades ago to complain about a lot of stuff. It's almost natural for the older people who are used to seeing it to grin and shrug it off. It's a video game and competitive personality or laid back relaxed that is what it is at the end of the day. If you want more? Why not take the exciting journey of actually BUILDING that? It doesn't have to be huge and gigantic. Start out small. Build it into something more, and let that drive work for you. That's how Information Technology works for most degree fields. About 1% can be learned in the classroom. The rest? Is literally your choice to pick up and learn. The more you learn, even if it's sitting at home reading a book on it, can only help fuel the next step and the next step and the next step. No one ever motivated themselves because of a paycheck and growing old on that. You don't get to be a developer or a job by doing that. You'll burn yourself out that way. If you keep learning about something you want to learn about though? Maybe making a lore theory for Destiny? Or a video for Movie of the week? That's what makes any gaming community great.
Eurogamer: I'm not going to mention them again. I can't get them. Luke Smith: But you can if you buy the Collector's Edition. Eurogamer: I'm not going to buy the game and the two DLCs all over again. Luke Smith: Okay, but first I want to poke at you on this a little bit. Eurogamer: Poke at me? Luke Smith: You're feeling anxious because you want this exclusive content but you don't know yet how much you want it. The notion of spending this money is making you anxious, I can see it -
LOL... reminded me of this speech... And I don't even watch that t.v. series, but man. I always love it when someone tries to psychoanalyze someone else. "You don't know what you want. We haven't shown you anything yet."
Eurogamer: I do want them. I would buy them - Luke Smith: If I fired up a video right now and showed you the emotes you would throw money at the screen.
Shut up and take my money? Sorry. But I personally would like to keep the current amount.
Eurogamer: What I'm saying is that fan frustration is not because they don't understand the proposition. It comes regardless of how cool the exclusive content is. The frustration - and mine as a fan - is that the method of acquiring it requires me to re-buy content I bought a year ago. Luke Smith: [Long pause] It's about value. The player's assessment of the value of the content.
Well said. A player does need to assess whether the exclusive rewards are worth it. Whatever the player decides they will live with. Psychologically? This won't last. People don't want to be accused of leaving a game over emotes. Makes them appear snobby and worthless to others.
Eurogamer: Final question on prices... Luke Smith: This autumn we want to have a moment of convergence..
Bragging rights aside Luke? The simple enough reality is that new players could very easily enjoy Destiny without the rest of us being slammed by a larger then expected price. I get the idea: The depreciation value, the need to move forward because you certainly can't keep bouncing back and forth.
I wish I had a way of better telling players that I was there back then. That I had a better way of embracing the legacy of my time with the game.
Meh. Remembering things that far back now? It's great to reward loyalty and all, but... preserving the past? What? Do we need a walkable destiny museum in the companion app filled with entries, "I was here when..." or "I participated in..."? I don't think so.

1 ReplySide note, no matter the game they come out with in the future bungie will never get another cent from me

6 RepliesEdited by ThaRickyNatorr: 6/23/2015 2:37:33 PMNo one understands this player base... No one is ever happy no matter wat thay do and sadly enough thay cant please everyone.. Stop getting butthurt every damn time here on the forums just because something doesent please you, 90% of this community that actually use the forums are irrational spoiled bratts or just unhappy ppl in general..

Edited by balazra: 6/23/2015 2:41:29 PMI pretty much love destiny... It's just a shame the balance of weapons, pvp and story/ content suck ass. Ah well elder scrolls or borderlands, one will get purchased with my next pay cheque. When the next expansion pops out I'll have a look at reviews, maybe wait for the demo and see whether I can be swayed by the "new" stuff.
-
2 RepliesHonestly they need to give more of a shit about people who have supported them all along.
-
Won't be buying TTK at release, will wait until at least on 50% off sale and all the NEW bugs and NEW NETWORK issues are 1/2 fixed as they still can't fix them all now even if you have a fibre connection and router setup perfectly.

Fallout 4 -blam!- destiny bruh

6 RepliesTo be fair there's probably a lot most people don't understand about running a business, branding, trademark ect.. And all of the other things that have to be taken care of ( packaging, shipping, paying employees and whatever else) all has to be paid for. Yes they're gonna find ways to make money. Every company out there rips off their customers to make money. Clothing companies pay $1-2 per shirt on a mass order and sell them for $10. Rip off for us but that's how they bring us more things to purchase. They're looking for ways to profit so they can grow.

F u c k this company.

3 RepliesSo wait. All I read was the person interviewing Luke Smith asking about the price.. All Luke knows is the content. He's not worried about price.. that's why he said the content had value.. you guys are jumping the WRONG people for this.. If you were being asked the same question over and over that you can't basically answer, you would get frustrated just like he did. That's all I saw from both sides. Frustration. It's still early for all the hype.. If you are that worried about it, WAIT UNTIL RELEASE TO BUY IT AND DONT PRE ORDER IT.. It's that simple.. based on the packages I've seen being proposed, I don't see anything you get in return for pre ordering it..
-
Also speaking of value nothing is valuable if your giving the finger to your fan and player base!!

6 RepliesNormally, I'm one to defend Bungie. Most harassments made here of Bungie's ethical practices are unwarranted. TTK's price was, I feel, justified by the amount of content that was shown at E3, although yes, it's still expensive. I read this a couple hours ago, and I'll fully admit, he didn't handle that interview very well. At all. I REALLY think they should include the emotes and other bonuses with the VIP Rewards. An adjustment to the pricing so that it costs as much as the Season Pass would be nice, but entirely optional. I know that Luke's a nice guy. He was on a couple of podcasts before joining Bungie and he's really funny. He was Lead Design on the Raids so he's also smart, but the way he replied to the questions was poorly handled to say the least. DeeJ has some PR work to do, and hopefully Bungie will rectify this whole Collector's Edition bonus nonsense.
-
I really hope this is the lowest preordered dlc out of them all maybe that'll get their heads out of their southern regions
-
In response to the imgur "I'm going to answer in the weekly update" thing, what he really meant to say was "I will dance around it once again and leave you more confused and with more questions than before"

3 RepliesSHAME! SHAME! *DING DING* SHAME! SHAME! SHAME! *DING* Shame on this Luke guy, he is treating the players, countires, currencies, and fan base like crap...nevermind the fact that he is a lead designer who just Shammed the company. Remove Luke...the force isnt strong with this one.
-
6 RepliesThis is my contribution. I personally think Bungie is seriously screwing with their fan base and far too arrogant to realize many gamers like me have not and may not continue to poor our time and more importantly our money into a game/company who does not reflect a mutual respect.
-
4 RepliesThis is the same guys BTW, who, in the TTK vidoc is still talking about Valus having too much health... Yea you really have tour finger on the pulse of the community of you think we still care about that oh and why would we he hasn't even been a NF in months
-
Bump 100x... This is a joke and he should be shamed for the way he talks about the community. We are not stupid gamers, many of us are developers as well... If I told my customers this I would not have a job anymore...
-
6 RepliesThis makes Bungie look even more like pricks than we already (sadly) assume them to be... It's really a sad commentary on the state of how little the developers care about the end users who give them money to pay for food.
-
1 ReplyLmao at this idiot, bungie will not get $80 from me

1 ReplyEdited by harrymfa: 6/22/2015 11:33:27 PMThis is the Luke Smith article that made me decide not to invest in this game any more. That was back when I unfortunately bought the season pass. That dude needs and ego check, or at least, cut his intake of cocaine. http://www.cinemablend.com/m/games/Destiny-Won-t-Getting-Raid-Matchmaking-Here-Why-68756.html

4 RepliesWow just wow. I can't.... I can't even imagine how Bungie thought this was a good idea. I mean I am making my parents buy it for me because I cant justify spending my own money on it but after SEEING THIS, it makes me question even that.
