I keep wanting to get into this game, but I just keep getting bored/disinterested with it in the middle of the survival guide quest.
I feel like if I got some tips or some foreshadowing on how awesome this game gets it would help me stick it out.

4 RepliesMoira is so. God. Dam. Annoying. I literally blew up Megaton just because of her. But nnooooo. Bethesda has a sick sense of humor. ..

Go to steam and buy Fallout 1 and 2,those are not only the best fallout's but also some of the best RPG,s ever made. Best thing is that they will run on a toaster.

Also just explore. All the random shit that happenes and all the cool/creepy/fu cked up things you see (especially in the vaults [Gaaaarrrry. Gary!]) Or the temple of Dave. (BoS vs Mercs + centurion)Deathclaw = me watching hysterically as i ready my fatman-2(deathclaw)/me shooting the fatman in my face... Good times...

Edited by Lord Biggums: 6/22/2015 6:44:29 AM
EXPLOSION!!! DID I TELL YOU THAT YOU GET TO BLOW UP A GODDAMN CITY WITH AN ATOMIC BOMB?!?!?!?!?! HOW ABOUT THE EXPERIMENTAL MIRV?!?!?! BECAUSE IT SHOOTS EIGHT MINI NUKES AT ONCE!!!!!!!!!!!! EXPLOSION!!!
But in all honesty you don't have to do the wasteland survival guide, that quest is long and tedious but if you take it and just do the things when you are in the area it really is not so bad, It gets really cool later once you meet the brotherhood and the enclave. Trust me it gets better the longer you play. I don't want to spoil anything but trust me, it gets better as you play. Edit: Go to the bar and ask the owner if he has seen your father/ if he has seen anyone new in town or hack his computer and check the logs, this will update your main quest and should send you to GNR. Also, should deal with the bomb in the middle of the Megaton if you have not done that already.

You don't have to do the survival guide quest you can do whatever you want discover places and it gives you new quests

1 ReplyJust sit down and play it.

This was the first game I played on steam.

Early in the game you get a nuke launcher. A NUKE!!!

Once you see Liberty Prime there's no way you won't love the game. Also, the anchorage DLC and mothership zeta DLCs are amazing. And make sure you find the experimental MIRV.

Oh yeah, I remember that. And the gal's voice is so irritating. Each playthru I dreaded it, but waded through, because I knew it got so much better afterwards. I did like going to Minefield, so I could get that sniper rifle. Plus seems like a couple of times I tricked her into thinking I had done a mission. I just did the minimum on the ones I hated. After that it's a lot better, so much to find. A sniper in a church, a super large mutant you can release from a cage so you can watch him wreak havoc, so much fun exploring.

It really picks up in the downtown DC area. There's a quest where you have to retrieve the Declaration of Independence, one where you can either help slaves take over the Lincoln Memorial and retire his head or sell them out to slavers, who have occupied it. Another involves stopping two crazy "Superheroes" from messing up a town, and another you have to rescue a doctor from an old Police Station full of Super Mutants and bring her back to her town. After that, you help the people of said town defend against Super Mutants.
