Really? For that price?
Reskinned enemies with new abilities are not new enemies. You can change the perks on your weapons. Does that make it a new weapon? Hello halo 5. I only hope I can convince a few of you.
I'm not complaining I'm convincing:
Bungie can do better. For the good of Destiny don't buy it. Speak with your wallet. If you continue to pay for lazy content you will continue to receive lazy content.
At least I tried. By purchasing ttk you will be sending a strong message that no matter how lack luster the content is you will continue to pay due to your addiction. We all want a better Destiny. Work with me here.
Math:
vanilla Destiny, $60
4 patrol areas
Raid
5 strikes?
10? Pvp maps maybe a few more
4 races with multiple types of enemies in each
6 subclasses
No story
Ttk, $40
1 new race (exact same but are green, some enemies that could previously not teleport like thralls steal said ability from one of the multiple enemies that can already teleport...nothing new here)
1 patrol area
Probably not 5 strikes
A few pvp maps
2 public events? Compared to the existing 5...
No story
3 subclasses
C'mon guys you love this game so much you'll buy anything. Don't do it. For the good of Destiny. The value isn't there.

I guess technically they aren't a new race, but the AI is much different so it will be like fight a new race
-
Have you not seen the vids? I'm not arguing agaisnt your technical definition, but the Taken look pretty badass to me. That twitchy, corrupted look. Like just a pinch of Dead Space in a much too pg universe.

I agree with you about the enemies. Your stats for the rest are off tho. Theyve said there are new patrols. Plural. So there will be at least two. There are at least 4 new pvp maps and 2 new pvp modes. The number of strikes would only be a guess. And the story is supposed to be "a full story" that is "fully voiced". Theres still a fair point to be made about the value tho. Its 2/3 the price of the original so imo it should have 2/3 the content. Also, considering the previous expansions were lacking a bit of content people may feel like they have a little extra owed to them.

Edited by MercuryFields: 6/24/2015 7:37:05 PMYou haven't convinced me. Muted.

You have already played ttk? Does your dad work for bungie?
-
What would you define as a new enemy?

You want to know what the new maps for TTK will be like? Play every mission or strike backwards, congratulations you have exclusive access to TTK!

2 Repliesyou don't know that because you haven't played it yet you don't know that because you haven't played it yet you don't know that because you haven't played it yet you don't know that because you haven't played it yet

Re skinned enemies with new abilities... What isn't new about that, it looks different and acts different.
-
Hasn't halo had the same enemies throughout their series? Hast Mario had to fight bowser multiple times? How many COD games have you fought the same Germans, Russians ect? I wouldn't expect a new alien race until Destiny 2. And even then I wouldn't expect it
-
4 RepliesOryx is new. Damn, blew your entire thesis up.
-
5 RepliesBased on what we are getting, compared to the original sticker price of $60, I'd say a fair price for TTK would be $20-30. Not sure where they got $40 from. I guess it's based off what we are willing to pay rather than comparative pricing.
-
1 ReplyDear god its going to be a long couple of months on this forum until the TTK comes out! Bridge, Build, Get over it.
-
did they confirm a new patrol area? where?
-
Vanilla had 6 strikes, plus the ps exclusive. So 7 ish.
-
Better not see you on the new DLC when it drops
-
Yeah it's pretty lazy man. These fanboys here will attack you because they take it as a personal insult. Buy an expansion in any other rpg you get new enemies with new models and new abilities yet destiny avoids that like the plague. Everything in this game is a reskin. Strikes are reskinned story missions. Bosses are reskinned enemies but bigger. Exotic perks on weapons and armor are just reskins or having existing abilities last longer. Etc etc.
-
Seems like enough content to justify the $40. Thanks OP, consider me convinced!
-
Bungie can do better. They will do better. That's the point of these expansions. Now settle down, and enjoy the ride rather than finding any type of flaw to over consume your brain. Positive thoughts(;

1 ReplyThe Taken look like vanilla enemies with a cheap Photoshop negative image edit.

3 RepliesEdited by Jeff the Cabal: 6/24/2015 12:05:10 AMI actually don't mind this. Especially the taken. They are our normal enemies we have now but possessed by the hive sorcery. They are glowing black and white with a smoggy effect with particles and tentacles..they look pretty damn sick though. Not to mention the new models. Yes, there are some new models. Oryx has the obvious new model, the cabal and captain in the trailer has an obvious new models and probably more to come. Also keep in mind, this is our first look at it. Only our first look. And we have gotten this much so far. There is more to come. Look at what we have right now. A (bad) story 9 strikes 2 raids Prison of elders Trials of Osiris A handful of PVP maps 3 current social areas 4 patrols The crucible As for a game, this is a lot of content when you think about it. An average game will normally contain a story, some type of end game activity (usually 1 thing) and then maybe an online mode. That is your very average game. :P

1 ReplyWe dont even know the story you asshat
-
The Taken King has no new enemies, but let's be honest, the original enemies are so good they're worth buying the game twice
-
5 Repliesdestiny doesnt need new enemies. it needs those enemies fleshed out better. almost a year has passed and i have no idea what the cabal are running from. why dont the hive and vex fight each other? are they on the same team? wtf IS the "darkness"? why does a giant, floating ping pong need someone to speak for it? bungie will never tell
-
Keep saying this, we do have a new enemy type: the cabal drone
