You should try one, Fallout 3 or New Vegas(doesn't matter) GOTY editions are cheap wherever you look.

Uh... Go back further, fallout 1 and 2 than try fallout tactics than 3 and new Vegas

Well I'm assuming he is on console, both games are where most people are trying to get into the series before Fallout 4. If they want to go back and play older games that's up to them.
