My last Thorn post - Here is to all you clueless thorn defenders
I posted this in another thread. A lot of people liked it - so I made it a topic.
For the sake of the Destiny's PVP.

I've been so vocal about this. Sadly, people who agree with me are minority here in the feedback forum.
Here it comes,
I will get hammered by the following comments.
Learn to counter - The pVE only player / guy who definitely has no idea what crucible is about.
Just use it too - Thorn user
I do just fine against it - TLW user
The bounty was hard though, it should be good. - The really bad PVE only player
TTK/KD mean nothing! - The bad PVP guy
Stop crying scrub - Thorn user heavily leaning on his crutch.
Nerf the nerf posts! - PVE only guy that [i]loaths[/i] crucible.
Just buff auto's - Guy who doesn't understand FPS' with shield/health system. Wants quick easy kills all the time.
Until more people that actually play PVP, and who actually understand the crucible meta post more often...
We will sadly be constantly drowned out by the non relenting idiocy that plagues the feedback forum.
2 exotic Handcannons are slowly sapping the fun out of crucible...

The writing is on the wall. If Bungie plays nice and actually shows user data, we would have a lot more ammunition to throw the defenders... The

I don't think we are as actually outnumbered as it appears in these forums - But I think the people who know what we know, sadly just aren't as vocal as these aforementioned plagues to this game.
If they continue to flood the forums with their nonsense as much as they keep doing - The once fun PVP is this game won't survive.
Maybe this is their goal all along.

How are you getting killed by thorn so often? Try something woth high impact to make them flinch and it will be tough for them to get 3 headshots. Occasionally it is a 2 headshot kills, but that's if you have minimal armor and after it burns you

To be honest in regular crucible thorn is fine. I use the devil you know and it's pretty easy to pick them off. It's iron banner/ToO where thorn becomes a nuisance. Not because it's impossible to fight back but it becomes a go-to weapon since it has a two-shot kill with it's burn and it's range can snipe pretty far. Anybody who is screaming don't nerf it: If all you see in trials and iron banner is Thorn, it has become a go-to and takes the fun out of the game. Nerf or make other weapons stronger Idc just do something with it so it's not the only thing you see.

Buff autos so you can counter at all ranges with any weapon type.

3 RepliesDude, u have to take the feedback into consideration. You can just wipe your ass with it. If you don't wanna fight back at thorn with tlw then don't. Snipe, rush with a shotty, red death that shit, juju, for -blam!- sake man. I know its lame because they're every where, but its a good weapon and people are gonna use what's effective. Bungie -blam!-ed up when they nerfed the auto rifles, now your stuck using either pulse rifles or hand cannons against thorn. I use the tlw but it only works at medium\close range against thorn. If your team doesn't suck, u can rush with a felwinter or two shot with praedyths. If u don't wanna do that then shit yourself to sleep.

The thing that stuck out to me was "the once fun pvp." Arguable at best, but yeah thorn is a problem. That said it's in a sea of problems that is the PvP in this game.

I am neutral on the subject...all I know is that if and when they are going to nerf it, you are going to see a lot of k/d drop overnight.

The point in buffing autos isn't for easy kills. The point is autos stagger weapons the most, causing aiming to be more difficult. That is the perfect counter to hand cannons, but they're just not worth using. That's why a buff would largely help with balance.

2 RepliesI bet if you looked back in the forums during the first 3 months of this game we'd see the same thing we are right now but with ARs. 'Nerf the Suros its OP! Buff other weapons so they can compete!' We as the community asked and we received! We all got what we asked for, we wanted ARs nerfed and other weapons buffed and we got it. Now here's where the problem happens, Bungie did not do a good job balancing the weapons when they made this update and now we see nothing but thorns, last words, messengers, felwinters, etc. The problem lies with the community and with Bungie. People need to learn that no matter what, no matter how balanced the weapons are there will ALWAYS be weapons that are that much better than the next one and with a game like destiny where there are numerous different weapon varieties and play styles that come along with it there will always be a small balancing issues. If you look at any FPS there has always been that one weapon that drives everyone crazy because it is so good. The point is as much as this community bitches and complains about problems Bungie in this case gave exactly what you wanted, albeit they didn't do a good job with the update but this is partially your responsibility as well. Sometimes you just need to know when to keep your mouth shut because you don't always know what is best in certain situations.

I personally like tlw, hawkmoon and red death more at this point. If bungie nerfed thorn another gun would pop up, then that would get nerfed etc... see where im going here? When does it stop?

2 RepliesI have been meaning to send a message or find another one of your post to say I was wrong. I like the thorn. At first I though that people wanting a nerf were just crying. Then when I decided to change guns because I was tired of the thorn, I realized how much the thorn needes an adjustment. In my opinion it takes alot of skill out of the game. If a person can kill me with the thorn with two shots im not as frustrated as them getting a kill because they spray and pray to get the burn. Countering is not a huge problem except in toO when you go up against 3 thorn user. Something needs to be done but idk what. I think for ToO and IB perks should be removed from the guns. I feel if you want to be a competitive player you shouldnt mind not having perks. Not having perks put a little more skill back into the game. So you were right on the thorn... maybe not your requirements to post lol but thanks for a good post.

The thorn is heavily overused and by far the most broken weapon in this game, both physically and hypothetically. Anyone saying anything else is oblivious to their surroundings.

If Thorn receives a nerf, I'll just use the next go-to OP weapon. Then after all the bitching and the subsequent nerf for that weapon, I'll just use the next go-to OP weapon. Then after all the bitching and the subsequent nerf (provided I haven't lost interest at that point) for that weapon... see where I'm going with this?? The Vex is OP. Suros is OP (not anymore). Hand cannons are OP. Sliding then using a shotgun is cheap. Blinking is cheap. Golden gun is OP. Nerf post, nerf post, nerf post. Blah blah blah blah blah. For crying out loud.

2 RepliesI don't get it. When you have guns like Hopscotch Pilgram, The Messenger, and other high impact archetype PR's, you can two burst kill. If you're even half way decent at aiming, you should be able to land your crits faster than anyone using Thorn to body shot you 3 times. Shit, that goes for any gun. If your gunplay is good, you're going to outgun ANY Thorn user that's going for body shots, most of the time even if they're going for crits as long as you're making them WORK for their shots as not standing in the same spot aimlessly shooting at them, hoping to win a gun fight. The only primary type that has damn near no chance at taking a Thorn user is AR's and everyone knows that's. Unless the Thorn user is absolutely HORRIBLE, there's no need to even attempt. Thing is, I hate Thorn but I see NO need for a nerf when there's guns in Destiny that can outperform it. If people learned the killing potential of other weapons, I think Thorn would be used a whole lot less. The gun has EXTREME amounts of hype built around it and does offer slight ease of use over other guns. But if the person on the other side of Thorn knows what they're doing, they're going to give them a hard time.

10 RepliesDoes the gun really bother/kill/hinder you that much? Im not trying to start an argument. I just dont see any other reason to complain about a weapon unless it kills you alot. It kills me a ton but im not complaining. If Thorn gets a nerf everyones just gonna call nerf on the next weapon they get butthurt about and thats a fact. The cycle will continue endlessly
