9 month Gjallarhorn snub causing family to leave Destiny....
Last Sept. my son and I started playing Destiny. Though I play a considerable amount time more (43days 8hrs; according to DestinyTracker), we both don't have the coveted heavy! My 11year old son (at the time; he is now 12) is now getting denied POE35 level games like myself because we can't bring a Gjallarhorn into battle. I understand the RNG thing; but, nine months with two people in the same home not having one is causing us both to not play as much. PLEASE HELP!!!! Shel310, Maceo310.....
UPDATE: 50 days, 9 hours and Gjally just dropped!!! It fell on Hard mode CROTA after doing each of the four sections without dying at the end of each. Only until the final Activity Rewards screen after downing Crota did it fall; not after killing Ir Zut. At least I'll try it before this truly unpopular nerf occurs before Taken King! Now my son needs to get one...

I feel your pain; I played from day 1 and it only dropped for me on the first day of HoW's. That said, you don't need Gjallarhorn to defeat Skolas. Moreover you want to control the rate his health drops so you can be in the best position to manage the mines. G'horn makes this much more difficult. Sorry to hear you're being excluded from groups on this basis, not really the community spirit we should expect. I'd suggest joining an inclusive clan, as a member of one myself it's a great experience and you'll meet some fantastic players and see its skill that beats a boss, not load out.

1 ReplyThis is exactly the shit I hate. Who ever will not do POE 35 (Skolas) with you are just shit heads. Those are the people that are not very good to trust. I can understand if you really need a mic but not a Gally. I have seen people do if with machine guns.

Fun fact. You don't need gjallarhorn to beat skolas. You need a competent fireteam. Gally is a crutch for you and you don't even own one -_-

Here is my story. I played a total of 21d 22h 57m. Have a ghorn for each character, because I played all the exotic drop areas of the game. And before they dropped, I NEVER COMPLAINED. shut up.

There's plenty of people that will run 35 Poe without gally, there's plenty solid rocket launchers and if ppl can't get it done without all ghallys then you don't want to play with their crappy skills. Keep searching for ppl you'll find them, I'd help but I stopped Poe the rewards are not that great, I'm sticking with Osiris. Good luck, I'm fat one and finally got a Hawkmoon.

2 RepliesThis is my unfortunate story... (I'm still gjallarhornless btw) Dear Destiny community, First off I would like to say that I love destiny but I have a few issues. As a player who has been fulfilling his destiny since beta (lol) I still don't understand how I am missing the things that make destiny the franchise it has become. I am missing an icebreaker, hawkmoon, black hammer, and the of course illusive Gjallarhorn. Whenever I bring up my issue to anyone who has anything of desire in the game I always get the same response, " do more raids ". This is maddening because I do all of my raids each week on all of my characters on easy and hard with no luck. While doing them I always have the thought of my brother who is also a seasoned guardian obtaining both black hammer and Gjallarhorn in his first try in Crota's end normal! (true story by the way) Though Bungie is probably going to nerf Gjallahorn and black hammer by the time The Taken King comes out, this makes it even worse for me because with my luck I will most likely get these weapons just after they are nerfed and will never experience the magic they used to produce. I also feel as if I'm not unlocking the game's full potential because I'm stuck using prudence II, a new monarchy sniper rifle. :-( Speaking of gear, it is the worst to see someone who just started playing when House of Wolves launched and have my dream load out. (fatebringer, black hammer, and Gjallarhorn.) So please Bungie, consider my words because I took a chunk out of my day to edit and create this persuasive essay (thanks Ms. McMillan) and make the destiny universe a better place. I felt your pain up until two weeks ago, when I had my first Gjallarhorn drop from the exotic chest in Vault of Glass. I would recommend doing Crota's End on normal and hard (in that order), Vault of Glass hard, PoE with a treasure key, Nightfall, Weekly Heroic strike (for the possible legendary engram), and Trials of Osiris for the silver package.

It doesn't matter how many hours, days, months you put into destiny it's all RNG sadly. Keep grinding you'll get one[spoiler]got my 1st from the last nightfall right before HoW came out[/spoiler]

10 RepliesI've said it before the r n g rewards system sucks.my 1st one dropped about 720 hours of gameplay and I've heard of people getting it at about 60 hours so it makes no sense and why they should introduce player trading.everyone who bought this game should have the chance of getting the gally and yes it helps better in poe but a good fireteam and communication is needed more.

As someone else mentioned, it sucks that you are getting excluded from groups on account of lacking a weapon from a random drop. Perhaps it's time to look into more inclusive groups. I recently hooked up with Dads of Destiny Battleborn and it has made the game a lot more enjoyable. The guys regularly run POE 35, hm raids and Trials...the only requirement is that you're a father. I hope you don't snub him and tell him he can't be in your raid without one...jk...it would be great if he got one before you...I got one before my son I didn't even tell him...then he got one and I was like great job the next day I wasn't ashamed to use mine...I had to answer the question...Dad how did you max yours out already? My answer was....I saved all my bounties and packages and cashed out today...lol
