why is the taken king expansion so expensive for players who already own destiny and expansions 1 and 2?

Hello! I was just making this post because I noticed something a little odd that I'm surprised nobody was really questioning yet. I purchased the digital deluxe guardians edition of destiny with both expansions included and a extras thrown in just because bungie is cool like that for 80 something bucks (tax included). I'm not complaining about that price at all and I'm also thoroughly satisfied with my investment in this game, as it has brought me a lot of enjoyment thus far - totally worth it to me. What this post is about is the weird decision to price the taken king expansion(which I just pre-ordered) at $40 (plus tax) for players who already own the base game and both expansions. I noticed that the deluxe edition of destiny that comes out in September is going to be 80 something bucks (tax included) and also includes *all 3 expansions* and a few extras too. The reason why I question that decision is because you're charging players who already own the game and both expansions an extra 20 bucks for no good reason when new and incoming players who haven't played destiny at all yet get all three expansions and the base games 20 bucks cheaper than the rest of us. Now I do like this game, but I really don't think it's fair to charge loyal players 20 dollars more. I feel like the taken king expansion should be 20-25 dollars for players who already own everything already instead of the 40 dollars I pre-ordered it for. I'd like some community feedback and your opinions on this. and if anybody from Bungie sees this, I hope I get a response because I'd really like one because this situation really confuses me.

Bungie Philosophy # 33 - If fanboys are stupid enough to pay a hiked up price for a video game, by throwing in some useless shaders, and other "look at me" aesthetics; then by all means rápë them hard. Bungie Philosophy # 34 - If the day one collector's edition holders were stupid enough to pay an ungodly amount for the same, content-less game that a Game Stop newb received in the bargain bin after two weeks of release, then by all means they'll fall for the same marketing ploy again. One ass råpïñģ always deserves a follow-up ass řāpïñğ! Spread your cheeks boys and girls, Bungie has a big expansion for you.

    • The average value of Destiny at the bargain bin right now is $20. If Dark Below was a physical disc, it's average bargain bin price would be about $5. House of Wolves is still very recent so the price will stay the same at $15 dollars. And Taken King is $40 for everyone. 20+5+15+40=$80 Destiny Year 1 Edition=$80 That sounds fair to me. The reason why you paid more is because you bought the product when it was brand new and at its highest value. But everything loses its value over time (except gold and girl parts). You got the better deal because you have been enjoying the game for an entire year. There. That's it. I'm done trying to bring logic to this forum.

        • Be cause like with everything that's related to this type of stuff the value drops overtime, so it makes sense, for example say if you buy a car that's 2013 model( the car being the expansion pack 1 and 2) then next year they come with a 2014 car model your car is going drop in value because there's something else on the market

Very good points. I'm mad about the 3 exotic class items, 3 emotes, 3 shaders that the collectors edition people get and day one players don't (unless they re-buy content they already have and spend 80$) That's what I saw. Collectors edition noobs get : 3 new shaders 3 new emotes And 3 new exotic experience boosting class items And that's how Bungie is screwing day one players. ...... Unless of course you RE-BUY the content you already have (Destiny vanilla, HoW, DarkBelow) in the collectors edition for 80$.

            • Because the bulk is out dated content. New players should have to pay full price for content that is out dated and will rarely if ever be played by them.

Why preorder it? There is no advantage and you just added to the numbers bungie will use to prove they can continue to make hollow promises

Because Bungie already r@ped us with the season pass. Now that our booty holes are healed they ready again.

                  • Think of us in the UK we pay in pounds what you pay in dollars so about 40% more ....how can they justify this ? I will not be caught up in buying another DLC and as much as I have enjoyed destiny and met great people I will be playing Batman and not suckered into yet another DLC , it would be interesting to see how much they have made from the games and DLC content

                      • E3 threw the gauntlet on Bungie's Destiny. With games like the single player Fallout 4 and Star Wars Battlefront which I'm expecting insane PvP coming out soon. My Destiny playing time will be considerably less and my fingers a little tighter on my wallet. The Taken King better bring the heat and give me a reason to keep playing. There will be new worlds to explore, with better storytelling, and more dynamic game play.

                          • Makes sense to me, the game is a year old now, and thus less expensive than when us day oners bought it. My opinion is theyre offering a discount to prevent people from buying used.

                            • I think the expansion is is a money grab on their part. People that paid $80-$100 when it first came out and have been playing it since day one are having to spend another $80 just to get exotic class items. And all we get is sparrow, emblem and shader. Idk it might be just me, but I don't see that being fair to players that have put a lot of time and money into the game already just have to pay a lot more to get more in game collectables. It's just a waste in my opinion and they are appealing more to new people to bring them in than their loyal fans. Again just my opinion

                              • It's so expensive because this dlc actually has a substantial amount of content. Bungie has established what $20 is 'worth'. So if the last 2 dlcs were $20 how can the new one be around the same price? It can't.
