Honestly, people still make nasty comments about gamers, having no life, being nerds, etc.
The gaming business is booming and making lots of money, with a gigantic (and very sarcastic, full of satire) community.
Why still these negative comments? For example, on your resumé, if your write that you like horsebackriding, it's all good. But if you say you like video games, people are like "meh".
Oh I'm sorry we have improved hand/eye coordination, can make decisions really easy, multitask, speak foreign languages that aren't our native tongue and can fix most of our own PC/Network problems??
Any light on this guardians? And what do you think that are other skills you get by playing video games?

My haters are my motivators

2 RepliesVery true people that say gamers don't have lives are wrong because one we have infinite respawns, and two they don't have a life because they hate on gamers like me.
-
Looking on forums don't help the cause either

4 RepliesI don't know, but when the zombie apocalypse comes, we'll be ready.

1 ReplyWe are no different than that sports fan who watches every damn game, reads every damn sports section, and blows money going to stadiums every season, and then that same ass hole tells me that I have no life? These are both hobbies that take time and cost money. It's all the same. They can put that in their pipes and smoke it.

2 RepliesFear not my brother! As haters hate our numbers continue to grow.....we'll have our day & then we will unite & take over the world!
-
5 RepliesIt's because 95% of gamers are fat ugly fûcks that will never get a girl in their lives and spend 15+ hours a day in their moms basement playing some weird ass game. The stereotype holds true to way too many gamers.
-
16 RepliesPeople say to me "you're 40, why do you still play videogames? It's so childish". I reply "you're 40 and still go to football matches, and scream and shout like a child". Some get it, some don't.
-
4 RepliesIf someone tells you you play too much video games, ask them how much TV they watch. That would shut them up.

Edited by TheThunderDumpling: 6/18/2015 6:42:00 PMBecause for every video gamer that is responsible, the is one who isn't. Regardless of the benefits of playing, there is also the addiction factor, and that can manifest itself in ways that rival alcoholism and drug addiction. I know people who have squandered job opportunities because they are more concerned with games. These are adults who have called out sick last min to play a game 24hrs straight, and then wonder why we are irritated at them because we have had to pick up the slack while they are having achievements unlock on Facebook....like we don't get those notifications.

1 ReplyThe old fucks who tell me video games are a waste of time are the ones who normally watch TV for 24 hours a week.
-
1 ReplyThen there are the people who watch an entire box set of TV shows or a complete season of whatever on Netflix and bash video games because they're a waste of time. Hypocritical?
-
Id just ask them how watching tv or staring at your phone is better. At least you're mentally active while playing a game.

They hate us cause they aint us. Im flying out to Norway in a couple of years to attend the wedding of a friend I met through gaming. Might even drag the wife and kids with me. Gaming is scarily different now to how it was 25 years ago...
-
probably because most of the gamers these people meet are either kids or really immature trolls that post console wars etc. gaming is a hobby, it is no different from, say, building model trains, or playing a sport. oh, and guess who those same people call when their TV or computer is acting up? the nerds! ironically, many people who say negative things about games are the same ones that watch reality shows on TV. so if I kill Zombies/Aliens/whatever for a couple hours I'm sad, but it's fine to watch Kim Kardashian or some other reality "star" try on dresses or whatever? seems legit.. not.
-
The older generation does view it that way but that mentality is quickly disappearing as games are being played more by both genders and ages. Although there is much more to life than just videogames. I've seen some bad extreme examples of man child's who should adjust some priorities.
-
1 ReplyWhy do tattoos and piercings ruin your chance of getting a job? The older generation that's in charge now hasn't caught up. When the current generation is in charge it will be more accepted.
-
It's because to someone looking in from the outside they see us stationed on a sofa for hours at a time staring at a TV, not taking in the fact your mentally stationed in a virtual reality , maybe even spiritually aswell even though your not physically doing much. However there truely is more to life.

Because people still think this is the early 90's I dont care though. Technology grows everyday (kinda scary in a way) And games are the lost child of technology But will eventually grow known and respected . that means more games for the future yay Gamers . That goes for pc elitist , toasterbox owners and the sonyponies

5 RepliesTake a long look at these forums and ask yourself that question again.

People just don't understand. They think sitting still and watching a movie is somehow better and more mature than using your brain and reflexes to play a game. It's an old mindset. It'll eventually fade, though probably not even in my generation.
-
It's because there are too many old people who don't understand technology. They really just need to hurry up and die already. They are too huge of a drain on the economy and they are halting the progression of needed legislation.

Rocksmith is a video game that will teach you how to play guitar.

Like improved reaction timing

Girls in my area especially hate it when I play video games >_>
