Simple question. In Deej's interview he talked about moving on from old stuff and "adapting." If you can't upgrade your year one equipment, will you continue on and just grind for all new legendaries and willingly leave everything behind?
I will leave this game if I cannot ascend/upgrade year one items. I play for fun, and if I had to get rid of them that would push the grind over the top. It would also irritate me that all of my progress would be erased.
If your answer to the poll is yes, I'd love to hear explanations why! I personally don't get it and would like to understand :)

Edited by I Timelord I: 9/13/2015 10:09:47 PMYou buy new cars, houses, clothes, food, etc... Nothing is going to last the entire trip, something new is always around the corner and once you start playing with it you'll forget about the old stuff soon enough. Not to say I won't be putting my stuff in the vault and pulling it out from time to time ;)

I want new cooler stuff I only care about exotics staying relevant
-
The guns look better! More diversity! Think about it, an uncommon gun is as good as our year one guns. Think about all the different guns that will be used in crucible and not just Thorn, Hard light, TLW, etc.

They can have my Fatebringer when they pry it out of my cold, dead hands!
-
Yes, it's time to move on Year one should stay in year one

1 ReplyEdited by The Chiefu - チーフ: 9/13/2015 9:56:51 PMWelcome to MMOs. It's been like this for every Expansion for any game since the genre was created. I know it's not offically and MMO, but it plays and mechanically feels like one. Edit: Didn't realize how old this post was.

Edited by IDontWantThisOk: 9/13/2015 9:57:40 PMHonestly, the year one gear, at least armor wise, bored me to death. Not much variety, and everyone ended up looking extremely similar because everyone tried for the best gear. As for weapons, yeah, I'm sad some of my guns can't make it, but honestly, I love these new weapon designs, and I like the meta change. So this was an obvious yes for me.

Dude, you can keep the old ones. I'm excited to get a new taste of Omolon, Suros, and Häkke weapons.

As long as exotics can be

2 RepliesEdited by Firkey: 6/18/2015 3:18:44 AMIm already sick of them switching gear progression systems every xpac. 1. Ascendant shards Get from and purple gear dismantle, daily missions, nightfall, etc etc. 2. Radiant shards, ascendant shards useless Raid only... 3. No more shards for current gear, just etheric lights. Most endgame content, except raids. 4. Who even knows at this point.

1 ReplyDoes anyone else see the irony in them forcing us to move forward and forget about our old favorite guns, and yet they can't figure out how to give us vault space because they insist on limiting the game by hardware from 2004? It's almost like they can't think of any weapon ideas that we'd choose voluntarily, so they use forced obsolescence to make us use the new ones, and it solves their vault problem at the same time. Lose-lose! This punishes people who got into the game a little later. I'm just now getting into raiding and getting some raid guns. But why should I bother trying to get Fang of Ir Yut or Vision of Confluence if it's all going to be a waste in a couple months?

As long as I can bring exotics.
-
no way in hell. its not like there wont be new and maybe better gear but by making all the old stuff obsolete its a slap to the face for all the time we spent working on the gear, the best thing about HoW was that it lest us bring older gear up to the new limit and people were psyched about that. now they are saying well thanks for wasting all that time upgrading your favorite weapons and armor...now f#%k off because we are going to make it useless anyway. if they don't let us keep upgrading classic gear i am done. i don't like hundreds of hours being turned into wasted time by a stupid design decision by a company that doesn't learn from its mistakes...

What'd be awesome if you could make a hybrid exotic out of two year one exotics and say some exotic shards or coins or request Xur to reformat some of your weapons by sending it to the nine and then wait for its return! Same with armor as well. Something to think about. Also, seems to me they're not going to increase vault space hence the move to make older weapons obsolete.
-
They will make weapons that are as good and better
-
U would still be able to use the old weapons in the vault of glass and the regular crucible though. Just because u cant use it were power matters shouldn't be the deal breaker for you. All rpg games do this. Everytime a new expansion comes out the old stuff becomes useless on where power matters. This isnt something that people shoulf even be surprised about. This isn't anything new.

I called this awhile back. My friends and I have been throwing the idea back and forth for a month that you wouldn't be able to ascend Exotic's or Legendary's. We were only half right though because you'll still be able to bring Exotic weapons & armor with us. I will be sad to leave my Fatebringer and others behind, but after Luke Smith's Kotaku interview where he said Year One was there to lower expectations when ascending something, I pretty much figured this was a given, so I'm okay with it. Bring on TTK!
-
So is TTK erasing all the gear you got?
-
my old exotic are going to become trophies and i am planning on 3d printing some of them i personally dont care at all losing some stuff
-
I say to anyone who will leave over this good riddence
-
Depends if I come back to Destiny at all. TTK is looking to be a bit intriguing in the good kind of way. But yeah, if I didn't "quit" I would continue playing. I expect old gear to become obsolete.
-
I will but im not gonna play as much anymore excpet for faction ships because evrythin else is useless
-
I only want to upgrade my efrideets spear. I've played too much pvp to delete that baby
-
Depends if it's my favourite weapon.
-
I really want to have kind of a clean slate, where all of my weapons are kinda made redundant/useless (looking at you fatebringer)
-
I play a lot of RPGs, and I'm currently playing ESO. Getting rid of weapons for newer, shinier ones is part of the fun. This part I don't mind. But there's ANYTHING like the grind they used to have in the first six month, where you had to scrounge for upgrade mats, I'd lose interest in a big hurry. I'd like to see them get rid of having to level weapons themselves...that part is just tedious, and is a carryover from CoD games (owned by Mothership Activision). In ESO you can upgrade favorite weapons with better, but rarer, upgrade materials. But nobody uses blue, purple, and gold ones as they play the game from level 1 to VL 16 because they know they'll be needed them at endgame. Destiny needs a system like this, where you can apply moderate upgrades, but nothing so hard to acquire that you'll begrudge getting rid of them later. It's tough to balance. You want people to covet their next cool drop, but also not let them get too attached to it when the next batch comes out.
