So, for $59.95 I get...

Everything I already own, plus the Taken King ... Or: Buy $59.95 for Destiny - original game Plus $39.95 for expansions I and II Plus $39.95 for The Taken King 'pre-order' -------------------wait for it------------------ That's $140 pretty much for the same thing as noobs can get for $60. Thanks Bungie. I've enjoyed your game. Seriously. It's a lot of fun. I'm not kidding. Check my hours played. More than most, I can assure you that. And, what's my thanks and appreciation for supporting your game along the way? Getting screwed over to the tune of more than DOUBLE THE PRICE that someone will pay today. How the hell does this make sense? You should actually honour your most loyal customers with The Taken King as a FREEBIE, or at the very least , a DEEP Discount. (Maybe $15 instead of $20, but certainly not increase it to $40, that's just plain back-asswards). "Here you go guardian. As a token of our appreciation for sticking with us through the first year, for buying the base game, for getting the first two expansions (which may or may not have been disc-locked content), for playing through the glitches as a live feedback forum for our programming errors, for the buffs and the nerfs you've endured, for the lag and for the heavy ammo we took from you every time you spawned... We would like to present you, as a gift, Your own Edition of The Taken King. I'm not butt-hurt by what's been paid so far. I'm f-ing choked that a newb will get all that and more for $60.00, and that it will cost me another $40 on top of what's already been paid, just to keep up with the BUNDLE-BABIES of 2015. Should be $15 max (free preferred) for the players who already have all the prerequisites. BUMP if you agree with even one part of this. --- out --- EDIT: Geezus. For those of you who agreed, thanks for understanding my point. For the rest, here's an example: You all have cell phones. If you don't, try to imagine having one. Buy the latest phone. Then pay for an upgrade. Then pay for another upgrade. Then pay for another upgrade. Your buddy goes and buys the upgraded upgraded upgraded phone, AND GETS THE ORIGINAL PHONE YOU PAID FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE GIVING TO HIM FOR FREE AS WELL... For less than half the price too!! and as a freaking bonus, he also gets the charger, the headphones, the protective case and limited edition sticker to proudly display on the back of his Kia Soul as well !!!! Does that help even one of you naysayers get it? Edit 2: For those that say "Isn't this how all games do it?", the correct response is (I'll succumb to Godwin's Law for some of this I'm afraid): Did slavery come to an end? Did the holocaust come to an end? Did the USSR come to and end? Did the wall in Germany get torn down? Pick a metaphor... The choice should be your own. Just because that's how it's always been done, simply does not 'de facto' make it right! Edit 3: Your responses have been mixed. Fine. My post will not be all or end all. I appreciate what most of you had to say. For clarity I do not compare the edit 2 metaphors directly to this video game. But, to be offer a piece of advice to those who thought I meant something else: http://www.quotehd.com/imagequotes/TopAuthors/albert-einstein-physicist-insanity-doing-the-same-thing-over-and-over-again-and.jpg I believe that a company this big and profitable can do better than the companies that came before it. There will always be change. Who will do it first? Edit 4: You'll be impressed... I've listened and here is my last ( probably not) contribution to the argument: Bungie can rename the DLC to be $39.95 for the DIGITAL BEND OVER EDITION* for those of you who already have the original game and the first two expansions. We will send your guardian an in-game bottle of lube. It will be waiting for you in the special orders. * There will be no reach-arounds or discounts offered. Edit 5: Please stop buying next year's car at half of last year's pricing!! Edit 6: There were Alpha players There were Beta players Then came Day-1-ers We can call the next gen the 'Vets' Along comes Xmas Noobs Since then we've had a few Kinder-guardians But this latest generation will forever be known as: THE BUNDLE- BABIES I do not take credit for this nickname, the original poster is down there, buried somewhere in the responses to this thread. Go ahead and find him/her, they deserve all the praise. If my post succeeds in nothing else... BUNDLE-BABIES SHALL LIVE ON FOREVER!!!!! Edit 7: Strictly for your entertainment only: https://youtu.be/eOlIZhs0JEg https://youtu.be/1o0Vv8lr41w EDIT 8: Looks like my rant was 'all' right on the mark. The failure on the price point. The failure in exclusive content. The failure on needing to rebuy items I already own. Many Thank to Eurogamer for taking the time to interview Luke Smith, and get to the bottom of all these inequities. We shall see what the weekly update holds for the year-one owners of the game. I bet it's not much!

    • I've been around these parts before destiny was announced (halo 3 :) ) and I pre-ordered destiny, played beta, got it day one. I did not but TDB but bought HoW, I understand how frustrating it could be but the value of the DLC went down and so did the base game. Making a bundle is the best thing they could have done and I I feel that it was the best way for them to help people upgrading to keep up with the game. I'm upgrading earlier then anticipated because TTK collectors edition is cheep and it lets me save allot of money. This is a good way to get players to upgrade and is also a good way to get old DLC out to new players.

      • Ive seen lots of developers sell old games with all the DLC's for the original price and call it the game of the year edition to try to get new customers. But they usually do it after all the DLC's have been out for a while and don't release it at the same time as a new DLC. An example is fallout 3 and fallout new Vegas. Pretty much almost a year after the last DLC for each game they came out with their $60 bundle which included everything. I took advantage of this cuz I'd never played them before. I don't think it would be a problem like it is now if bungie or hacktivision would wait longer to release their legendary edition.

        • You've got a valid point. Bungie is offering the bundle for $60 because it is an old game with 2 old DLCs and 1 new one. The price is fair..... without a doubt. The bigger issue is we have to pay 2/3 the cost of that for the new expansion. I don't want the new DLC to be free, but TTK is not a new game. It's an expansion. They're pinching pennies here. And people can't make the statement that we are lucky they don't charge us a monthly fee like most MMOs. Monthly fees don't work on consoles..... no one would play the game. Bungie basically got caught up in trying to sell this year 2 bundle to new consumers and didn't realize they were going to upset the faithful. The price won't change..... Activision has never allowed a price drop on a new product.

        • You played a game for the last year. Prices for games tend to drop over time anyway. But you still expect others to pay the same as you have for a game which is a year old to them. Use your head. I would be pissed if I had to pay the new game price for a game that was a year old. Love how you expect to get rewarded for buying the game a year ago when it first came out either by getting extra stuff or by screwing new customers out of a year old game by making them pay what you did for it. It's a smart call by bungie to get new customers who weren't able to buy it a year ago to get into the game now.

        • I'm just upset that we get 1 shader, 1 sparrow, and 1 emblem but the newbies get 3 exotic class items, 3 shaders, and 3 emotes. Hopefully the "and more at launch" will be something good.

        • Bundle babies.... That is wonderfully perfect. Yea this pisses me off how they are pretty much telling the people that stayed through their "too much coding" and "buutt eit wuz lahst ghen thaat maed the gaem bwad!!" to -blam!- off. Thanks a lot Bungie

        • I actually agree with bungee on this. This is there way of getting new players to keep the longevity of the game going. Seems like a brilliant idea to me. And besides they don't make this game for fun they make it for profit. For everyone of u that quit because u don't think it's fair 3 more buy the bundle and start playing so just because u quit don't mean bungee will even notice it

            • I'm not as upset by the pricing because this is something which happens a lot in the gaming industry for things like "game of the year edition" where previous DLC packs are bundled and such. Early buyers simply benefit from being able to play the game a year ahead of all the newbies. A lot of the gear we've collected in the past also won't be making a return—so there's also some exclusivity there. However if you don't see any value in that, then maybe you should wait a year or two after games are released to get the most bang for your buck. See it's not so much the pricing that bothers me, but rather the lack of exclusive content for dedicated fans. The Collector's Edition comes with 3 new emotes, 3 new armor shaders, and 3 exotic class items with XP bonuses. These are things that a complete newbie would see absolutely no value in the game. How can they appreciate the rarity of these items when they're completely starting from scratch and barely understand what half of the stuff even means? Meanwhile veterans and early supporters of the game will be getting: 1 Emblem, 1 Sparrow, and 1 Armor Shader. Then "and more at launch" is tacked on to the end of the feature list. I'm hoping Bungie is trolling us by hiding something big with this "and more" part. Because at the moment the list seems a bit pathetic for a package which is targeted towards the customers who help made Taken King even be possible financially.

              • Wait. So games are cheaper a year after they come out? You are surprised by this? Where have you been for the last 30 years? I can remember paying £9.99 for a ZX Spectum game in 1985. A year later I saw it for £2.99 on budget rerelease. The worst part? There wasn't even an internet for me to cry on.

              • I think that Destiny will be dead for me by 2016. There are a lot of new games coming out later in the year, and they'll end up drawing my attention away from Destiny. Don't get me wrong, this is a good game...but this new pricing is absurd. Also, calling it now: many year 1 players will be boot anyone with the exotic class items.

              • The only thing that bothers me is they get the taken king, they practically get it for free....... Other games have released definitive or legendary editions before I understand it's how it works but never ever have they ever released a huge expansion right along side it and put it in that disc for 60 bucks total.......... I'm really disappointed
