Based on what I have seen thus far...
The enemy appear to be the same we have been fighting...just modified a bit.
Does anyone know more at the moment?
*edit - Initially this was not intend as a complaint thread about new races. I was looking for clarification...since the screen on the announcement showed what appears to be re-skinned fallen, hive, cabal and vex.
For the record...I am fine with that provided we see some diversity and a solid lead in story on the method of their transformation. I am not talking grimoire here...had enough of that nonsense - Bungie needs to start spin'n the tail on the big screen.
In addition to that...
I think Luckyguess's post comment here ...echoes the sentiment of many....
Here's the thing: we log in every day to do the same strikes, raids, and patrols over and over, killing the same stuff over and over week in and week out for the past year now. There is a fatigue associated with this kind of repetition. Sure, making the enemy fight differently is nice but it would also be really nice to get a visual refresh to go along with it.
*edit...updated media with Taken King ViDoc ....provides more clarification. This is looking very very promising.

They have different mechanics but are re skinned. They also have new abilities
-
It's "The Taken" its like zombies of the guardians enemies
-
2 RepliesCan't wait to see awoken or guardians that have been taken. Might prove interesting.
-
They have abilities. Phalanxes fire shit from their shields. Psions can multiply and put up some dome thing. Thralls can frigging TELEPORT. So they're not just reskins. Plus, it'll probably be interesting seeing how well hive knights work with phalanxes. Fighting a force of all the enemy types could make for some serious bullshit.

3 RepliesAs long as they don't crawl on the ceiling and drop down scaring the heebie jeebies outta me I'll be fine.
-
Well, some of what I saw in the trailer did basically look like reskinned/glowing versions of existing enemies... but I also saw things that looked like Hive-mutated variants of other enemies as well, including something with a hammer that reminded me of Halo's Brutes. I don't expect to pre-order this DLC, but I'll be watching this closely.

3 RepliesWhy do you need another race anyway. The game is fine wait till Destiny 2 for more races lol Jesus this community is never happy with anything just a bunch of complaining babies
-
1 ReplyThe taken are supposed to be reskinned. The idea behind them is that Oryx has possessed them and made them to fight for him
-
2 RepliesWell... At least the bosses look different than regular units... Sort of.
-
None of this seems like recycled content to you? Don't be a sheep
-
It's important to me that all models and skins be diverse while I'm shooting them in their face. Otherwise I lose interest and am unable to pull the trigger. This is a serious problem.
-
the taken will have new mechanics which i noticed a couple being psions throwing bubble shields and hobgoblins doing what appears to be healing other goblins
-
They have different weapons, and they said that they are going to behave differently.
-
The whole point of the story is that, anyway they have different weapons like that one knight had an axe instead of a sword
-
With new mechanics
-
2 RepliesI saw at least one new enemy. It looks like an enlarged Shank on the surface, but the features are a little different.
-
1 ReplyI honestly don't care if they're re-skinned if their abilities and AI are completely different. It will be something new to get used to where most of the current combat tactics will be ineffective. I'm looking forward to it.
-
3 RepliesThe point of the story is that they're reskinned
-
I don't think anyone has more information than what you have. All we know is the Oryx has the power to control minions of the darkness and it doesn't matter what race either.
-
10 RepliesI dont understand this complaint, they all belong to one of 4 races. How much diversity do you people expect in a single race
-
2 RepliesThe content was already developed years ago as we've seen the concept art for it. This was all part of the original game.
-
6 RepliesDid you see the psions with those insane bubble shields and them flying? Looks pretty different to me.
-
1 ReplyEdited by Cyber: 6/16/2015 4:21:46 PMThey may look similar, but attack and defend as a whole new Ai.
-
1 ReplyBase character model is the same. Different skin, different cosmetic add one, very different abilities. From what I've seen it appear these will quickly become the most hated enemy to fight. As for the reuse of models, that makes since as these are space zombies. What is uncertain is whether these are hive taken over or enemies taken by the darkness itself.
-
2 RepliesReskinned and according to Urk, the Ai also behave in a very different manor than the non-Taken versions.
-
No, they are the same emimies like fallen, cabal, and hive but the fallen and cabal have been brainwashed and transformed to worship the darkness.
