Really guys? Who honestly thinks it is a slap in the face. If you were to buy a console the day it comes out then would you expect to pay less for games simply because you were a "year one gamer" for that console. No that would be an outrageous demand!!! Also, the "new" players are paying for everything in a bundle. Anything bundled will ALWAYS be cheaper than all of the content spread out and sold separately. Not to mention the majority of what they will be getting is OLD content, some of which will have been out for a year. and who cares if they will be getting 3 shaders and 3 emotes and whatever else they are getting that stuff isn't even worth anything. TONS of games have done this exact same thing and gotten no complaints, but the second bungie does it we have an outrage and they are wrong and don't know how to make a game. Seriously grow up! If you like the game then buy the $40 expansion and play it, if you don't then don't buy the $40 expansion and play something else! It's really as simple as that.

The point is that in order to get the class items, shaders and emotes, I have to buy almost the entire game again.

4 RepliesAgain, don't care about the bundle. Don't care about special shaders or any of that crap. What I care about is the fact that TTK is 40$. In my opinion that is too much, especially since the previous two dlc releases have not been up to par. Of course this is my opinion, some will agree some won't.

I have no problem with the price. The price of games always go down, especially a year after they have been out. To be the first to experience something you will always pay more. You'll pay maybe 10 times what you will to see a movie in the theater than if you wait for it to come to Redbox. And you're paying for the experience. The theatrical, huge screen, surround sound experience. I think that in a way, equates to the experience year one players have had playing Destiny. Newcomers experience will never compare to what we have seen and done along the way and how we saw and did it. The only problem I have is the emotes, shaders and emblems that we won't receive by just buying the $40 expansion. Regardless I'll still be buying the expansion and I'm not going to cry about. It's really not that big of a deal and in no way game breaking. Still, I completely understand how people would be upset by this. How Bungie did not expect this to explode is beyond me. People like the little things, and that's exactly what they are, little things. Which really makes it all the more silly that they wouldn't be included. I understand year one players will be given items as a sort of appreciation for their support and that's awesome. Still, with the amazing price tag newcomers will be getting all of the content for, I think it was an unwise decision to exclude people only buying the $40 expansion from anything new, however minor to may be.

Edited by Trapped on Mars: 6/20/2015 7:24:06 PMIt's not a slap in the face, it's a sheer kick in the balls. Newbies get special gear that veterans don't unless they buy what they already have for $60-$80? No thanks. Just kidding, who actually cares about emotes and emblems...

Here is my whole problem with both camps. The hype train is in full swing for it saying it will be amazing based off what they have seen at E3. However they forget that all of what they were shown is subject to change and there is no guarantee that that will be the final product. (Remember the first E3 and how the game was butchered?) basically people are jizzing their pants already and have forgotten the three things bungie has taught us about its E3 showings. 1. Everything is subject to change. 2. We promise nothing despite showing you leaks and previews. 3. Become legend, the way we intended for you to play. And for all the neigh-sayers and grippers remember this: destiny is addictive as hell and 40 dollars is not terrible for a dlc that has a little more than half of the original game content. If you spend 40 hours on taken king content thats basically 1 dollar per hour. If you went to a movie you would pay 5 dollars an hour on the ticket alone. Sure many were hoping that it was cheaper but it was first rumored to be 60. If you cant afford it that is understandable but that does not mean you are guaranteed to have something that is new. (No content from the taken king has ever been shown to be on disk or locked unlike TDB and HoW. It is new content.) If it is not worth it to you then dont buy it, simple as that, or at the very least wait for it to go on sale after a few months. Personally for me i will not be buying it as of now. Most of my friends have stopped playing and randoms just arent as fun. If my friends decide to get it then i will get on board but if not then for me there is no reason to continue when i can play other things with people i know. But who knows, knowing them, they will decide last minute to get it lol.

15 RepliesYou're missing the point. The point is that the older players can't get the same content unless they make that same purchase new people would be getting. Because all those exclusive items are limited to ANOTHER collector's edition of the game. Which is crap. The fact that prices were lowered in and of itself is not a problem. The problem comes from additional content only being available that way which screws veteran players.

5 RepliesIt is you moron maybe don't watch streamers etc. Who promote the game because bungie is obviously in there pockets.....
-
I won't be buying The Taken King, I'll just wait until it gets released in another discounted bundle, or until it's fiver in a bargain bin. I'm not paying over the odds for anything Bungievision churns out.

1 ReplyYour right it is a kick in the face.

Honestly im like a little fanboy rn and hyped for this dlc after watching that trailer. Were not being -blam!-ed with

1 Reply"TTK is NOT a slap in the face" Agree is more like a... Kick in the b....

1 ReplyName another game that requires you to repurchase the game to get exclusive content.... I'll be standing by.

Guys I tell you!!! It's a slap in da booty ᕦ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ᕤ

2 RepliesI don't think this is a slap in the face, but with them showing reveal trailers for the game and the new subclasses and everything so quickly why couldn't this all be a part of the first game. I loved destiny when it came out, but now I feel like I'm paying more and more money for something we should have had from day one.
-
1 ReplyI think that there should be a collectors edition without destiny or the first 2 dlcs and it costs $60
-
3 RepliesEff that PS4 is selling the digital collectors edition for 49.95 or at least they were last night so save me this entire post.
-
I love how you have a brain. Some of that I didn't even think of (old content); and here's a thing. I paid $150(or $160 can't remember) for Xbox one ghost edition. Then $60 for the base game on Xbox 360 Then $35 for the 360 season pass. And $40 for the strategy guide (cause I love destiny) Maybe $20 worth of posters And at least $40 of t-shirts. Plus yesterday (despite having the base game in a steel book and both expansions) I bought for $80 the Xbox one digital taken king collectors edition (now I don't need to use my disc; and have taken king plus collector goodies.) If Im right that makes $425 spent on destiny so far. And you can call me stupid but I have a couple thousand hours played so when you do the math; it's cheap entertainment that I very much love and enjoy. Am I saying everyone should pay a bazillion bucks to destiny? Nope. But I am saying that if you have a problem with the collectors edition being $80 Why don't you find a better thing to complain about (Like how it costs $40 and in UK; £40(literally equivalent to about sixty US dollars. ) But I don't think $80 for collectors is a problem just cause (as OP said); ITS OLD CONTENT. They even sold Xbox one destiny in the game store for $30 a month ago. Calm down everybody. It's just a game ;)

It's not a slap in the face at all imo. If you really think about it, it's pretty awesome that Bungie is putting a low price tag (basically $60) on everything up until this point. This will lead to a brand new wave of guardians joining the fight. Pretty cool. I think they're doing everything right with Destiny, contrary to popular belief.

7 RepliesIt's about the exclusives dude. Not the reduced price for new players. Why is this so hard to comprehend?

And this, my friends, is a "casual" in his natural habitat. Warning! Please don't feed the casuals, they tend to morph into trolls.

5 RepliesI did like the game but bungies greed and lack of loyalty to it's own layal customers is just laughable. So you make day one owners pay 90 up till now then we have to pay another 40 when new guardians only have to pay 60 in total and they get exclusives that we don't get? Ya f.uck bungie and their shady bullshit business practices they aren't getting another damn dime from me. Side note I haven't been on the bungie hating band wagon but they managed to put me back on it in about three days but they took me to a whole new level of hatred towards them

3 RepliesThe problem is that Bungie is specifically focussing on getting new players and totally leaving out their old playerbase. I personally like to buy collector editions of my favorite games because I like the extra things that comes with the game, but only when it contains exclusively new things like when it first comes out, but in this case Bungie just forces the two older DLC's and the game itself down our throat which is a complete waste of money. My question would be why Bungie didn't add another kind of collectors edition without the older DLC's and the game itself and only offer the new DLC with the extra goodies. Bungie has officially became the little lapdog of Activision and grabs for extra cash whenever the oppurtunity arrises. I'm actually GLAD that 343 took over Halo and even offers a free DLC. For me the old Bungie is gone and lost all my respect.
