Agree on any that levels the playing field. ToO is already creating a "cast" in the system and the balanced game environment is slowly pulling apart into polarized spectrum. The good keeps getting better and the worse will worsen still. Currently, any "average" player can't pass the ToO and those without a group will lag further behind. Bungie is all about statistics and I am certain it will show the polarity forming across the masses. Solid example: why is everyone using Thorn? The answer is obvious and trivial. Might as well rename the game to Trial of Thorns of 34s. At this rate, the players will be split into categories basically "can" vs "can't". And those who can't will eventually stop playing since there's no point to try anymore. Iron Banner was able to stay playable because one lower-skilled player can still depend on 5 great players for a team win, so there is hope in the end. In ToT (Trial of Thorns), this results quickly in 3 vs. 2 when the lower-skilled player dies, and it's a rather prescriptive outcome soon after that. And the greater-skilled players have no incentive to partner up with said lower-skilled player....thusly feeding the perpetual cycle of inequity and hence, if Bungie would check the statistics, far fewer players play ToT than any other activities. Simply put: game is only attractive when there is hope of reward. In ToT, don't bother playing if you aren't 34, max Thorn, and probably Titan (max on Armor vs a Worlock). Or if you don't have friends. Or a mic. Give every player the exact same gear, weapon, and character skills and health. ..then it's a game about your actual trigger finger skills and thumb tactics. Now those who can't play without their Thorn or Vex Meth ..well, that proved my point: were they top players because they had Torn and/or Meth? Or were they really better on the joystick on every weapon? See, now [i]that's[/i] a Trial. Bungie wanted a game environment that is attractive to [i]everyone [/i]. . Well, then [i]everyone[/i] needs to have equal chance in [i]everything[/i]. Case and point: I am a self-proclaimed so-so average casual player and I am finding myself less and less attracted to playing weekly because there's less and less of what I [i]can[/i] do. So it's back to the low level [i]Grind[/i] and who is up for that? ([i]Grind[/i] was the original name of the game at initial release that matched precisely the contents)
