It is time for the PvEers out there to get some love.
Since PvP now has stats on TTK, DMG/shot, etc., etc., I thought it might be time for PvE to have some hard data of their own, in the form of a database that provides the DPS stats on all weapons I could get my hands on. The result is this post.
I proudly present to you: The PvE DPS Database (Mobile) and the The PvE DPS Database (Desktop)

EDIT: I am copying in this section from Reddit below to cover some of the methodology for the database. It makes the post longer, but might explain a few things and answer some common questions (like reload time).
DPS Formula
I believe the DPS formula I used accurately captures the DPS of a weapon, including any damage over time or bonus damage the weapon may have. For the math/excel fans out there, it looks something like like this:
(((DMG Per Projectile + Extra Rocket DMG) * (Projectiles Per Mag) + (Bonus DMG)) / (Time to Empty Mag)) + Damage Over Time
This is a DPS(Damage Per Second) value, which by definition, is "the average rate of damage inflicted over time". In theory, DPS places all weapons in an environment where they can fire indefinitely.
Limitations of the DPS Database
While DPS is an incredibly useful measurement for a weapon's damage potential, it does not come without it's flaws. There are a list of things you should keep in mind when comparing DPS numbers in the database:
* Reloading Reload times are NOT factored into the DPS value, so some weapons may have a higher DPS with reload time included. I made the decision to not include reload times due to the multitude of perks, buffs, and other factors that would make accurately recording this number a nightmare. Please keep this in mind.
* Accuracy. The DPS value assumes 100% accuracy, which we all know is not realistic in most situations, especially for Critical DPS.
* Practicality. You will find that most of the shotguns rest near the top of the DPS charts in the database. While they may put out the most damage, in most end-game situations, they simply are not practical. Trying to get 4 Critical headshots with Invective against Skolas will not end well.
* Ammo. In the Database, there is an LDR 5001 with Final Round that does more DPS than both Ice Breaker and Black Hammer. While that is great, that LDR 5001 will most likely run out of ammo much faster than the Ice Breaker or Black Hammer. In other words, while its short term DPS is higher, over the long-run, Ice Breaker and Black Hammer will win.
We Need Your Help, Guardians.
Currently, the database is only as big as the weapons my brother and I have in our inventory. And we are running out of weapons to test.
But then there is you. The wondrous Destiny Community.
We made a form where you can submit your own finding and test to your hearts content (for the sake of science of course...). You can find it at the top-left corner of the database where it says "Submit your own results here!". Any and all help is much appreciated.
Some big data fields we are missing are damage values against Armoured and Shielded enemies and Bosses/Ultras. Testing weapons with some Positive modifiers such as the various Elemental Burns and modifiers like Small Arms and Brawler are also in great need. Plus, any 365 weapons or other weapons that are not in the database are always welcome.
Also, please comment and let us know what you think of the database! We want it to be as user friendly and thorough as possible, so if you have any ideas on how to improve the database or entry form, please let us know! Spread the word about this resource too. Everyone deserves to know that auto rifles still suck in PvE too, even that guy who is still running Suros Regime.

So happy with my wolfborne oath now.

I have every gun except super good advice, pm if you want to test them for their dps (OP only)

Edited by slimdeathstar: 6/14/2015 9:31:14 PMAccording to your chart. Thunderlord has 442920 crit pts in one 60rd clip @ 4 seconds. Gjallarhorn only has 72506 in 7 rds. I think you've got something missing, or did u exclude wp rounds? Would be nice if 3 rds of thunderlord = one gjally rocket. Lmao. I'm pretty sure thunderlord is close to gjally over time, but not 4x more powerful, or we would see videos of Atheon getting 1 clipped.

Edited by FluxDerektive: 6/14/2015 6:12:15 PMThis is pretty awesome. Some surprising results. Hard light better than Suros? Hard light better than mythoclast?!

pocket infinity is so low! and invective out dps' gjallahorn?! this brings new light to pve: normal mode VoG, must have maxed invective, gjallahorn, Icebreaker, and, TLW. must be able to equip all 4 at once, must have a full set of exotic armor: the ram, khorri's sting, armenterium, and pedegrine greaves! must have all equipped at once, must have exotic trials emblem. must be lvl 36. must have maxed grimiore
-
Icebreaker has higher DPs than blackhammer with whitenail? That's false it has to be!!! The almighty black hammer shall not falter
-
Pretty comical how the last word has faster DPS than all the machine guns in pve, it also has faster ttk than all machine guns in pvp and yet Bungie still doesn't seem to think it's a problem
-
Invective, who knew?
-
Edited by Chia Pete FTW: 6/14/2015 9:05:53 PMAmazing! One thing though, did you take Found Verdict's full auto perk into account? It significantly increases the RoF
-
Edited by JayhawkZombie: 6/14/2015 5:20:07 PMAwesome! What tier enemies was this tested with?
-
Ummmmmm. How come it says that inective does more dps than ghalarhorn?
-
Awesome!
-
Firstly great job. But and there is a but here, there are so many apples and oranges in that list. I mean you are comparing a full auto secret handshake with a shot package felwinters? Either compare all as full auto or none at all. The wolfbane oath seems high for a terrible shotgun, was that dps tested on fallen to activate its perk? This list goes on. I don't want my negativity to detract from what is trying to be achieved here but it's got plot holes.
-
Given the factors such as ammo and reload, do you think it's better to look at this from a TTK perspective? Significantly harder to do, but man... It would be great if you could run some what if scenarios on enemies, and get a list of the top guns and perk combinations that would achieve the best TTK.

-
You might just ruined it for my secret handshake with full auto...lol

Respond to check out later to contribute. Pretty please

Thanks.

Where's universal remote
-
This doesn't seem to have taken into account reloading...
