Introducing the PvE DPS Database

It is time for the PvEers out there to get some love. Since PvP now has stats on TTK, DMG/shot, etc., etc., I thought it might be time for PvE to have some hard data of their own, in the form of a database that provides the DPS stats on all weapons I could get my hands on. The result is this post. I proudly present to you: The PvE DPS Database (Mobile) and the The PvE DPS Database (Desktop) Read the full post at /r/DestinyTheGame. EDIT: I am copying in this section from Reddit below to cover some of the methodology for the database. It makes the post longer, but might explain a few things and answer some common questions (like reload time). DPS Formula I believe the DPS formula I used accurately captures the DPS of a weapon, including any damage over time or bonus damage the weapon may have. For the math/excel fans out there, it looks something like like this: (((DMG Per Projectile + Extra Rocket DMG) * (Projectiles Per Mag) + (Bonus DMG)) / (Time to Empty Mag)) + Damage Over Time This is a DPS(Damage Per Second) value, which by definition, is "the average rate of damage inflicted over time". In theory, DPS places all weapons in an environment where they can fire indefinitely. Limitations of the DPS Database While DPS is an incredibly useful measurement for a weapon's damage potential, it does not come without it's flaws. There are a list of things you should keep in mind when comparing DPS numbers in the database: * Reloading Reload times are NOT factored into the DPS value, so some weapons may have a higher DPS with reload time included. I made the decision to not include reload times due to the multitude of perks, buffs, and other factors that would make accurately recording this number a nightmare. Please keep this in mind. * Accuracy. The DPS value assumes 100% accuracy, which we all know is not realistic in most situations, especially for Critical DPS. * Practicality. You will find that most of the shotguns rest near the top of the DPS charts in the database. While they may put out the most damage, in most end-game situations, they simply are not practical. Trying to get 4 Critical headshots with Invective against Skolas will not end well. * Ammo. In the Database, there is an LDR 5001 with Final Round that does more DPS than both Ice Breaker and Black Hammer. While that is great, that LDR 5001 will most likely run out of ammo much faster than the Ice Breaker or Black Hammer. In other words, while its short term DPS is higher, over the long-run, Ice Breaker and Black Hammer will win. We Need Your Help, Guardians. Currently, the database is only as big as the weapons my brother and I have in our inventory. And we are running out of weapons to test. But then there is you. The wondrous Destiny Community. We made a form where you can submit your own finding and test to your hearts content (for the sake of science of course...). You can find it at the top-left corner of the database where it says "Submit your own results here!". Any and all help is much appreciated. Some big data fields we are missing are damage values against Armoured and Shielded enemies and Bosses/Ultras. Testing weapons with some Positive modifiers such as the various Elemental Burns and modifiers like Small Arms and Brawler are also in great need. Plus, any 365 weapons or other weapons that are not in the database are always welcome. Also, please comment and let us know what you think of the database! We want it to be as user friendly and thorough as possible, so if you have any ideas on how to improve the database or entry form, please let us know! Spread the word about this resource too. Everyone deserves to know that auto rifles still suck in PvE too, even that guy who is still running Suros Regime.
