Since picking up this game again (mark one up for the noobs), I just thought that Valhalla is similar Blood Gulch and Coagulation. Of course the differences are partly due to the new additions of each game (ex. Valhalla is fitted with man-cannons, and thus has no teleporters). Two somewhat symmetrical bases, different sides, depressed pathway, rectangular perimeters, and a whole lot of fun.
My fav of the three is Valhalla, just because I like the new additions, and usually play only team slayer, so 50% of the time, I'm on that map.

When people who havent even played Halo talk about Halo the things i notice are 1. They know who the Chief is. 2. They know there is a Multiplayer map with two bases in a box canyon. So yeah, Coag/ BG for me.

Strictly map design wise... Coagulation > Bloodgulch > Valhalla But when you factor in the gameplay, thus how fun it was to play that map in that game.... Blood Gulch > Coagulation > Valhalla

I prefer Coagulation. It was a more refined version of Blood Gulch that had more interesting gameplay than BG without losing the important elements of the map. I was hoping for a Halo 3 version of the map that would do the same thing for H3 that Coag did for H2. Add some more refinements, make some interesting changes but still retain the feel of the old maps. Unfortunately, When Bungie selects maps for remake they appear to be on a quest to satisfy some group of players whose opinions aren't in evidence on the internet....or in matchmaking or anywhere else from what I can tell. There has been more than one statement from Bungie that they select maps for remake based on community interest. I can't imagine what community they could possibly be talking about.

Coagulation. Valhalla. They are the same to me. I think that if they fixed Coag. Gulch, I would have liked it better. I will vote for Valhalla...by the way, do you know how to make a poll? -muttonhead688

They might be similar, but they are not the same. Just wanted to put that out there... Anywho, half my posts nowadays seem to be in support of Blood Gulch, despite the hopelessness of it coming back. I mean, no matter how many times I blare 'In Your Eyes', Bungie just won't listen! Coag and the Gulch were my two favorite maps. However since I haven't played Halo: CE Blood Gulch in a few weeks, I'm a little fuzzy. So I'ma say Coagulation is my favorite, simply because it's amazing. Epic Warthog Battles anyone? I still go back to Coagulation and play it every now and then :). Edit: Haha, Daz^^^ :) [Edited on 12.22.2008 7:46 AM PST]

Valhalla is arguably the greatest large map in the trilogy; a balanced sandbox has finally found its place in an enormous landscape.

It's just awesome, the waterfall, the water running through the whole map, the beach and have you ever tried flying a banshee on the top towers just looking at your team-mates and foes fighting? It's pretty neat. [Edited on 12.22.2008 7:06 AM PST]

After playing Halo 2 vista a lot, since my 360 is off at the shop with a RROD, (just in time for the holidays,) I'd honestly have to say that Valhalla is the far better map. Coagulation has some serious issues with player movement and bas configuration generally resulting in spawncamping and by extention dull gameplay. The middle ground is nothing more than a transit point that infantry wander into desperately looking for rockets, or vehicles to zip through on their way to the other team's base. Any combat between these groups occurs as one group accidently blunders into another, usually resulting in the death of one party, depending if rockets were involved, very quickly and without ever becoming that interesting of an experience. Valhalla, on the other hand, is a rich playground where infantry have the abilty to move about and flush out the depth of Halo's combat, while vehicles, fully balanced by both the terrain and the weapons on map, move about thoughtfully and, above all, equitably. While the default configuration is not the ideal set up (what with the utterly broken banshee and inherantly one sided laser spawn) its not a deal breaker here still allowing for a wonderful experience despite all the layout's flaws. I suggest for those looking back at the halceon days of Halo 2 that you go back and actually try playing Coagulation to see if your memory is as accurate as you believe it is. You may find that the good old days weren't really all that good. [Edited on 12.22.2008 7:00 AM PST]
Posted by: Inde Exo Valhalla, I dont constantly get snipped from all the way across the map.
You still can, I know a secret... Muahaha.

Coag hands down. Twas a wonderful map.

Cogulation is Valhalla. Have you ever played the Cogulation version of Valhalla? Also in Red vs. Blue the bases in Halo: CE are on Blood Gultch, then in Halo 2 it is Cogulation, and at the end of Reconstruction they are at Valhalla. Dur

Coag, i didn't have live in H2, but i went free for all with 3 people and 2 on 1(me) and 1 on 1 so many times i fell inlove. I remember my first "Double Kill"

Coagulation beats all, however blood gultch was the reason I went to xbox insted of ps2.
-
Coagulation. If only it had Mongooses...

valhalla. the hill changes everything, and for the better. it means that to succesfully kill you they need to be nearer to your base. This means that it's easier for banshees to take out the lazer and missile pod becasue they can come out form behind the rocks at the right moment. And the infantry can easily attack the hill, whereas attacking a base on blood gulch was damn near impossible when they had rockets. Besides valhalla has mnay hidden opportuinites such as flanking iwth the turret

I like the way the layed out Valhalla actually.

I would prefer Valhalla if it had places to go into at the sides, e.g. the rocky outcrop or the caves on coag. But i prefer the raised aread in the middle because that way, you dont just get shot from across the map.

All 3 Rule, But Valhalla is best in my opinion.
