Infinite Golden Gun Needs to be fixed

At this point, the Crucible is totally flooded with Hunters using the "Ashes to Asset" trick to get instant Golden Guns. Fortunately, this isn't much of an issue in Trials because you really have to mess up to walk right into one of those grenades, especially when you know what armor the other team is wearing. It has, however, caused nothing but problems in the 6v6 playlists. EDIT: Obviously some people are totally oblivious to what is actually happening and are hating without actually knowing what they're talking about. @Lauthier, thank you for correcting my initial accusation in an intelligent fashion. While the issue may not be cheating, and I will stop reporting people as such, it's still an exploit that needs to be fixed. This is the part I feel most people don't understand here: it IS an exploit, not a smart strategy. Don't tell me to get good because some people want to abuse something in the game. Check my DTR and you'll see I'm most likely better than many of the people posting in this thread. The glitch is something that was totally unnoticed until some guy decided to post it on reditt and now suddenly every Clash game I go into, there's at least one Hunter using the exploit. That is what needs to end. I'm not trying to start a flame war here, I just want something that is currently broken to be fixed. EDIT 2: Thank you everyone for your continued support, if you check out the patch notes for 1.2.0.3 you'll notice the glitch has been fixed. Happy crucible everyone!

      • Yet Warlocks and Titans can still run amok with invulnerable supers and one hit melee kills. If they "fix" this "issue", then they need to "fix" the Ram Helmet exploit. Warlocks just melee endlessly and keep getting health back.

        • I wouldn't call it an exploit. Mainly because it's working as intended. I would say they need to re evaluate its effectiveness in PVP. Soon.

            • I played all weekend and only witnessed it a few times. I have the gear to do it....laughed when I saw it worked and swapped to gear that works with what gun I am running rather than fast supers. When you hear the golden gun pop run and let it burn out....then find that hunter and take em out!

                  • What is causing the bug is that each swarm grenade counts as an entity in the same way a tripmine or lightning grenade does. This means each counts as a kill for whoever destroys it including yourself. When thrown into a corner the swarm grenades will "kill" each other. When thrown at an enemy you may notice that sometimes you get very little super energy. This is because sometimes they will form a nice line a proceed to blow one another up all counting as kills by grenades. This can be tested in rumble if you want proof. Have a hunter throw the swarm out in the open. As any character with a grenade that can blow up all the swarms wear a ashes to asset helmet throw a grenade (incendiary, scatter, flash, suppressor, etc) in the middle of the swarm. When the swarm gets destroyed by that grenade the player who threw the non swarm will get a large amount of super energy. This is because each grenade of the swarm counted as a kill. Another way to find this out for yourself is to go into this weeks nightfall (which has solar burn) and throw the swarm out in the open with no other entities nearby (with the ashes to asset perk on a piece of armor), when the grenades go off you will get you super. This only happens in solar burn, why is that? Because of the buffed damage the grenades need not be close as they are when thrown into a corner to destroy one another so when they do each destroyed grenade counts as a kill by a grenade for you. The reason I took the time to explain this is to say that it is in fact a problem in trials. You can get your super every round by finding a suitable corner to throw your grenade in and do so every round right after you spawn. I myself found a suitable position a few feet from both spawns on this weeks trials map. The fact that you can get your super every round is quite broken. The argument can be made that golden gun is easily countered, when you are aware of it well in advance, which is true however it changes the way you have to play and gives an advantage to the teammates of the golden gun user so even if the gg user cannot get more than 1 kill with the super you are still forced to play defensively. I expect Bungie to handle this in much the same fashion as the first weeks change characters exploit. Players who used it in excess will be prohibited from next weeks trials and players who continue to use it after the warning may be subject to more severe punishment. As for regular crucible I do not have a clue as to how they will handle players abusing this exploit. I would not expect any severe punishment without warning as that does not seem to be Bungie's m o. I do not believe that the players using this need to be or should be reported as they are not using malicious means nor do they probably even understand what is causing the bug. In fairness it is not even a bug as Bungie would have had to intentionally made grenades count as kills however I do believe this is an unintended side effect of that decision.

                  • It's not a "Glitch" per say. You see, the swarm grenade must have been coded so that each individual Swarm is considered an enemy in the game world. So when they get destroyed it is considered a "Grenade Kill". Not a Glitch, it's an problem with how the grenade was coded and how a perk is coded, causing super energy being able to replenish in an unintended way. (I only found out about this "Glitch" today because of posts like this on the forums, I came up with this idea shortly after reading one).

It's obvious it isn't working as they wanted and every single person here who says otherwise can pound sand. No way they sat around a game design document discussing the pros and cons of this. It was unintended. /thread

                    • For all those arguing that this is not an exploit, well you are either truly dense or use it yourself. You are not meant to get full super energy just because you threw two nades. Supers were meant to reward those who are clearly doing better and get more kills not just throw a nade and get three free one shot kills.

                    • First you have to run in to the sworn grandes for it to work and to be honest it's easy to avoid. Second it's an exploit not a glitch or a mod to benefit you. All bungie have to do is fix it and it's sorted because thats something the Dev missed out. But if that's a problem obsidian mind with bad juju is an exploit too. Cheating is shooting someone 20 times and there still walking and killing your whole team. But everyone has there opinion on what is exploiting for eg self res when the match is a draw is exploiting to me as the other team cannot respond to that move. There's no point reporting them for cheating if all their doing is using gear that's available for them to use. Needs to be addressed by bungie and fixed that's all. Report all the lag switches

                        • You want to complain about them "exploiting", but I bet you pushed the Templar off, and dc glitched crota. But now that it's a PvP based exploit everyone goes crazy. This is coming from a warlock too.

So much butthurt. Stop sucking so much and report players who are actually cheating, not people who are playing the game with the tools bungie gave them. You're wasting everyone's time with this shit. There's a tree somewhere that is tirelessly producing oxygen for you to breathe. I think you need to go apologize to it. Edit: might have been a bit harsh, op. Glad we actually understand each other :p

                            • Just went flawless in trials and our last match was against 3 golden gun glitchers, it got super sweaty but we won 5 to 3, the other team popped at least 6 supers. We're lucky they were trash or we would have been obliterated.
