I have always ran across a few people who have higher grimoire than me and think they are better at me than the game. To be honest, I think those people go to Destiny Tracker and grind all day for +5 Grimoire each time. The real question here is this:
Does Grimoire really tell who you are?
My opinion: Sort of
Edit 1: Seems like we are having a contest here about who has the highest Grimoire even though this wasn't the main point. (Max=3665)
Edit 2: Like this post if you agree with my opinion
Edit 3: Some people have been telling me that I grind for Grimoire. That is not true as I stopped at 3550. It may be high but that is because I played the game a lot since day 1. Never wasted time killing 250 ogres ect..

6 RepliesI've got a high grimoire but the only thing I've farmed is dead ghost,. Everything else just come from playing normally
-
It matters to the people who grind it lol. If you don't care about it won't matter to you. If you have tried to get higher Grimoire and you meet people with high Grimoire you're impressed by the amount of grind/commitment to the game. Which typically equals the person being good at the game.

I didn't give a shit about grimoire, but since I play destiny that much I just wanted to challenge myself to getting more grimoire. Just got 5 grimoire for 10000 pulse rifle kills, a weapon that I wouldn't have touched in pve otherwise. Makes it a bit more fun I think

2 RepliesMine is 3495. Does this make me an brilliant player? No not really, I'm decent and can get things done, sometimes I'm amazing, sometimes I'm awful. So it doesn't show skill. It is a fairly good indicator of time played and experience though. If you have a high grimoire score I don't expect you to be the best player around but I do expect you to have a good idea of what your doing and how things work in the different activities in the game but that's about it really.
-
11 RepliesNo it just means you followed youtube videos and found all the chest and ghost and other things like that.

As the game moves forward Grimoire will have less importance. In the upcoming years newer players will not want to pursue the numerous tasks required to achieve a high Grimoire score. Personally, I give it no importance right now because some activities, such as hunting ghosts, are mundane. Also, I have no interest in much of the HoW content, which I feel is garbage.
-
2 RepliesNo it does not mean anything in the end, it does not determine who is the better player by any means and never has or ever will do so.

Edited by Jxxxc123: 6/18/2015 11:57:12 AMNope. Its only for people who want tp complete challenges or brag not much skills are needes except for finishing raids, and guardian kills i give credit to that only everything else there is no skills needed

It probably doesn't matter but for me the time it comes into play is when you are matchmade in a strike. Just before you touch down I check the roster to see who the other two are. Assuming they are matching 30..32's I use their grimoire simply to get an idea of whether they are someone who blazed through the game to get to 30+ without stopping and probably don't know half the routes or other important things. Or are they someone who has done a bit of grind and generally understand stuff. <1700 at 30+ suggests not a huge amount of experience. >2000 and they are probably going to know a thing or two.

Most people on the forums that say grimiore doesn't matter are the ones with low grimiore. To me it's the only thing in the game to put people above others. Since they're giving out 34s. It doesn't always measure skill but it's experience and willingness to grind.
-
6 RepliesNah. Anyone can go ghost hunting with the help of a YouTube vid.
-
It doesnt say anything about your skill. But it says something about your experience with the game.
-
7 Repliesa high score can mean one of two things, either you ghost and exotic hunted or you grinded your rear off. i wish they showed trophy scores in pvp, thats what scares me the most
-
2 RepliesPretty much every player with high grimoire are complete garbage when it comes to pvp. Grimoire doesnt mean anything. Some people make it to their lifes work to get the max grimoire. Good for them. I couldnt care less though.
-
Grimoire doesn't matter, but elitists will keep saying it does.
-
Shows off experience I guess. However.... skill cannot be taught. I often see Pvpers with low grimoirr which completely rek me.
-
I just do it for bragging rights. I'm at 3615. Rumble is the devil. And sidearms.
-
Bump. This must get at much explanations/votes as we can.
-
It matters but only up to a certain point. Sure when you see someone who has 2100 Grimoire I´d say he is a less experienced player than someone who has 2900/3000. But honestly from 3000 up it´s just about collecting ghosts and getting kills with certain guns and killing certain enemies. Is someone who uses every weapon more skilled than someone who just uses one or two types and mastered them? Does killing 250 ogres mean you are better than someone who has killed 100? There comes a point from where it´s just another grind.

5 RepliesGrimoire for me says nothing
-
Shows experience
-
Not really, it's just based on how much stuff you have done in the game. I honestly thought finding 60 ghosts in a few hours was just awful.
-
5 RepliesWell it just shows who's more committed to the game, who's more likely to whoop your ass in crucible lol
-
12 RepliesMy Grimore is higher than yours. My Crucbile medal score is eons higher. Pretty sure my K/D is higher than yours. I'm better than you (at Destiny).
-
Nope.

2 RepliesGrimoire matters but not for the reasons some people think. It shows time investment, exploration and dedication to Destiny. Worth respecting for sure. Does it show skill? No. Even a really bad player can drag be carried through something if the stars are aligned. BUT if you had good friends on Destiny they'll know if you're any good at the game and you'll have their respect for that. Surely to be respected by peers is its own reward anyway?
