First post, so give me a break. I was wondering if anybody could explain to me exactly how the "betrayal" system works? What has to happen in order for the "Kick/Boot Player" option to come up? I've never been given the option after being betrayed once. It typically has to occur 3+ times.
Here's my rant...
My friend and I were playing Big Team Battle: DLC yesterday (Map - Standoff).
Anyway, about 8 minutes into the game, I have a 23 kill streak w/ ZERO deaths and ZERO betrayals. This was awesome as I have never gotten a "Perfection" medal.
My team is up at around 85-35 or so. At the time I had the Spartan Laser and Sniper (though I had just ran out of ammo). During my return to the base to pick up more ammo, a teammate was attacked by a player on a vehicle. I charged up the laser and fired - thinking I was helping. Right before the shot fired my teammate moved into the path and was wasted. Accidental Betrayal. He than booted me from the game. 23 kills, 0 deaths.
I thought that there had to be a few betrayals before a player could be kicked. This was extremely frustrating as the game finished about a minute later.
Do most people lack the common sense that tells them if they are betrayed, sometimes it's an accident?

Hmm.. this has happened to me i started my first ever game of team squad a while ago, i hoped in a guass warthog started driving forward and a teammate jumped on the front and started to whack me so i threw him of. next time round he goes along and purposely gets betrayed just to be able to boot me. this has also after one betrayal. so i got booted. This really annoyed me.
It was because of Grifball. It is almost impossible to not betray people in Grifball
lol grifball, if you dont betray somebody playing grifball....you're doing something wrong [Edited on 12.18.2008 9:44 AM PST]
Posted by: Drew729 Dont betray ppl then if you dont want to get booted....i understand there are accidents, but you'll only get booted after 1 betrayal if you've been betraying ppl in previous games....and if they were all "accidental" then you've got bigger things to worry about since you're incredibly unlucky. If someone wants to betray me and i dont want to get booted then i follow them around like im gonna betray em (drain their shields a lil), let them betray me again, boot em and move along. I don't think we should be able to boot, it would mean we have to cooperate more. I can remember a specific game where this one player wouldn't shut up about how he kicked my butt in the last game(was on the opposite team that match) and kept going on and on, and was shooting me, but not killing me. Well I gave up hunting the other team and went after only him. Killed him 6 times in a row and finally he is saying sorry, but proceeded to boot me on the last one.
-
I hate the betrayal system. I've had games where my teammate would kill me multiple times for no reason and I never get the option to boot him, and when I take action, he boots me on the first kill.
-
i never boot unless i know it was a malicious betrayal i need my teammates to win i do agree the betrayal system is flawed i triple killed a warthog but my guy was standing too close, he dies i get booted.
-
The betrayal system as always been garbage. A long time ago, this dude kept betraying me and It wouldn't give me the option to boot.4x in total until I got the option.
Posted by: Terrab I boot people so that there's one less person's deaths to worry about and more kills for me in the future. :D
Even if they haven't died and are getting lots of kills?*tuts* selfish

You can easily tell if the betrayal was accidental or intentional.... getting sniped by your teamate is can happen... Getting sniped by your teamate while in the air after using the mancannon is intentional.... Getting lasered by your own teamate while in the mancannons on Valhalla IS intentional, and deserves a boot. If my teamate is murdering the other teama dn he betrays me, i probably won't boot him unless it was completely intentional and we are already winning anyway. [Edited on 12.18.2008 9:30 AM PST]

If you've betrayed a load of people before (In halo 3 history) then it takes less betrayals for the 'boot or forgive' screen to pop up. Or so thats what i've been led to believe... but i think thats how it works. Roughly anyway.
-
Hes being legit, ive been booted for 1 betrayal but i do it on purpose
-
same map you played on ,a player was shooting at me (same team)he had betrayed my team members because i could hear people talking about him so finally grabed a rocket launcher betrayed him and you kwow the rest of the story i was booted.point is i betrayed once got booted he betrayed many people and we never got the chance to boot him>But usually if it happens i just exspress (sorry dont boot me )most people will leave you alone.

We all know it sucks... bungie FTL
betrayals from previous game will dog you and make it more likely that your teammates will get to the option to boot you for a betrayal.
Exactly, if i betray 2 ppl in 1 game...then 1 person in the next game they're going to get the option to boot me immediately....i know this from experience lol
Posted by: Terrab I boot people so that there's one less person's deaths to worry about and more kills for me in the future. :D
and if they're doing as good as the guy who posted this was, you'd still boot them?

ya, I had never played grifball before last weekend and when it was available last week ... i sort of got addicted for awhile. Anyway, I guess that makes sense, as betrayals in grifball (especially accidental betrayals) are very, very common - and since I played like 30+ games last weekend, I probably had 30+ or so accidental betrayals (as 1 a game isn't too far fetched). And my favorite playlist is Team Swat, which is also easy to accidentally betray a teammate (if they jump in front of your or something). Anyway, thanks for the hearing the rant and replying.
Posted by: Lotsofpants Apparently (this is a rumor i heard) if you betray alot of people in the past, in general, it will come with you to other games. So lets say you betray someone 20 times in one game because your just messing around or no body is trying to do the objective, and then you get in a game with a fresh account. You are at greater risk of being ejected if you betray than the fresh account is. Of course this is just a rumor.
I don't think it's a rumor, I think it's true. Take a look at how awful the betrayal system works after you played a fair bit of griffball.
-
Posted by: TheCyberFreak Your story doesn't sound accurate. To be eligible for betrayal booting you need to have either more than one betrayal in the game or else you need to have killed someone who has not taken damage from any other source. It may also be possible that betrayals from previous game will dog you and make it more likely that your teammates will get to the option to boot you for a betrayal. The system is at least clever enough to never give someone the option to boot you if they get killed by a teammate while taking damage from the other team.
He also has played griffball and from my experience that screws it up for a week or so afterwards.
-
HAHAHAHA you got OWNED.
-
I have never once been booted. Not once. And i betray people by accident all the time.
-
Posted by: About 7 fish Most people don't. All they see is "HE JUST BETRAYED ME!!!" *spams "x" button*. If it's painfully obvious that they did it on purpose, I boot them. If I'm not sure, and they don't speak up for themselves, it's all up to my mood.
Agreed, whenever I accidental betryel, I say sorry.
-
and the guy underneath you on the scoresheet also has 1 betrayal, you must have TK'd the whiny member of your team
-
So it goes.
