Should players who have completed a 9-0 (flawless) passage be prohibited from participating in elimination mode until reset?
Someone else mentioned this in another thread, and I thought it was an interesting point. I'm keen to see what others think.
At the end of the day, Trials of Osiris is a significant portion of the new DLC, and lets face it, there are a lot of PVP players who the majority of us will likely come up against in our attempts, at one point or another, of whom it's just blatantly silly to expect the majority of us to have a fair shot at defeating.
There are some people who have already suggested that a 9-0 passage should mean you had to face the best players and prove yourself. Ok, well, what about when these competitive players are carrying others through Trials? How is it a true test of skills when wrecking balls carry through other people, often running over teams which might have had a fair or more even chance against the rest of the players, had they not been accompanied by a wrecking ball carrying them?
OR, is there some other way of which Trials could be balanced to give the lesser skilled players a chance at 9-0 against people more at their skill level. Maybe better matchmaking?
I'm keen to get everyone's thoughts.
Discuss.

Can you please correct the title?, it is trials of thorn not of osiris, help bungie know it

Not sure if someone else mentioned this or thought of this, but ultimately it would not work anyway unless you limited players to 1 passage, which would make it harder for everyone. If 9-0 incurred no access, players who want to keep playing or carrying others through would just keep ditching their passages before they hit 9 wins and then keep playing.

1 ReplyLol I don't think you realize what you're suggesting. You should imagine 100 people playing Trials, and by the end of the first day, 50 of those people have already had a flawless run. Let's say by the end of the second day 25 more people have completed their run. The third day would see such dwindling numbers of players that you would start to see the same players in matchmaking over and over again. It would be good for the teams that are naturally better, because they would keep winning against those teams who they've already beaten. As you can tell though, it would be bad for the people that keep getting the short end of the straw.

2 RepliesSo im not allowed to help my friends get their wins? Or if im working or doing something my team isnt allowed to help me get mine if they already completed it? Go fuk yourself
-
25 RepliesOr, if you really want to get to the Lighthouse get together with your fireteam and practice for a few weeks. Play skirmish and nothing else. The Trials is the best running PvP mode in the game. After I go 9 and 0 with my fireteam I help my other friends, I don't do it to keep other out of the Lighthouse.

Put them with others that have gone flawless. Don't completely remove them

Edited by Zebros: 6/12/2015 4:31:19 PMIf a team wants to sit in the trials all weekend and shut noobs down then so be it.
-
I don't know about removing them from Trials once they've run flawless, seems a bit much, but they should definitely only get rewards the first time they do this on each character. If they make it just like every other endgame activity, you can run it as much as you want but only get rewards once per week.

3 x per character is enough, after that, no more access. And get matched against same number of wins! That would make things even more a tournament! And then : BETTER PRICES, especially lowe ranked prices.

Edited by Prof Sheitbag: 6/12/2015 2:38:14 PMI went with no, simply because if people want to continue running Trials for things like the ship, shader, class item, etc, they should be allowed to. But what Bungie needs to do is add some actual ranked matchmaking with trials. You have far too many tryhards carrying noobs to the Lighthouse, and pissing in everyone's cornflakes in the process. Make those tryhards work for their entrance to the Lighthouse: do not feed them blueberries and let them walk their firends through the gate. If you are amazing at PvP, then good for you. If you suck, and run to the forums begging people to take you to the Lighthouse, or if you are "donating" to someones twitch feed for the opportunity to get that really cool adept weapon, then congrats on not having any shame whatsoever. There are some of us who are happy with a 9-2 card, and would rather earn our way to the Lighthouse. So just add ranked matchmaking and this gametype will be fine. Have you been to the Lighthouse? Good for you - you will now face the best of the best players, and that dead weight you are trying to carry will now be an actual hindrance over just some guy not moving at the spawn. And those of us who are not the greatest at PvP can gain some experience playing people at our lvl and not take on the MLG wannabe types in the first game. And before anyone jumps on me about the term "matchmaking": I am referring to lining teams up based on skill level, not making it so we do not need a team of 3 to do the game type in general. You will still need 3 people tyo initiate the game mode, but if you have someone on your team that has already visited the Lighthouse during this run, then guess what: you will be facing other people that have already visited the Lighthouse.

Agreed if you go 9-0 you should be locked out till next reset.
-
ToO is one dumb format so I couldn't care less about making it better. ToO, frankly, sucks. It isn't going to be made better with this.
-
1 ReplyI think flawless teams should be matched with other flawless teams once they have gone 9-0
-
5 RepliesSo basically this would allow the less skilled people to go on monday night before the reset and have no competition... Haha sounds like u suck and cant get to the lighthouse by urself
-
No that's unfair. There has to be better solutions. I can't play when trials begins. I have responsibilities. My boyfriend can't wait to start so I let him play with our friends and he plays with me later in the day. People should be allowed to play trials with their friends (multiple) and help their friends just as people help eachother in any other activity (raids, Poe, nightfall...) Any other suggestions?
-
1 ReplyI think it should lock out 9-0 that consist of the same fireteam. If you want to help friends to try to get to the lighthouse, then to play again you would have to play with a different fireteam consisting of different players. So that means it wont be the same team going 9-0 3 times over really easy. But, that would be my suggestion if you have a problem with it. I personally dont because if they win, they win. Simple, im not going to argue, they were better than me.

1 ReplyI'm not a PvP player, and the way this mode is currently set up is the reason I won't participate. True, this is a mode where you're supposed to be prepared for anything, however you need to realize that a good number of players simply see themselves as not good enough after one bad encounter. By this logic alone, I would say lock out 9-0s. You'll see participation numbers skyrocket.

I don't think they should. I help other clan mates get to the lighthouse. It is what it is. I love PvP and this is the best game mode in the entire game, in my opinion. It's for the best of the best and hopefully people will play PvP more to improve! They think if they don't play and come into trials....well they aren't going to have a fun time. I love when pve players come up against my team.
-
How about add a winners playlist where it requires you to have gone 9-0 that week to enter
-
So im not allowed to help friends?
-
1 ReplyBungee should limit trials like they limit the raids and poe.
-
The lighthouse is an endgame reward for only the most skilled pvp players. If you want acces, git gud
-
1 ReplySeeing as they are not limited now do they get rewards every time they go to the lighthouse or only once per toon? Just curious
-
1 ReplyThe answer is no. Limiting them from participating in Trials would defeat the purpose of Trials. Not to mention some are playing for the chance at better drops for watchers gear. It's suppose to be the best of the best, not the best of what's left. The lighthouse won't and shouldn't be accessible to everyone given the type of event Bungie wants it to be. Even if you can't get to the lighthouse, Trials still offers you great gear if you can get to 8 wins, great gear in the form of drops at the end of games. I wear my Watchers gear over my Exile gear due to the superior rolls for perks and stat distribution.
