I am not a particularly good player, but I ground my way into decent gear so these days I'm annoyed if I'm not in a comfortably positive k/d ratio. I expect to be in the top 3 of a match.
....when I'm playing Control.
I play Skirmish and I get destroyed - 0.4 k/d. Totally owned by a guy less than half my level. It's just embarrassing, and I'd never dare inflict myself on any team in the Trials unless I fix it.
Whats the big tactical shift I'm missing? Any advice?
-
Cause in control you get to camp and build your k/d by killing guys running around like headless chickens while in 3v3s you actually have to fight
-
3vs3 is the most skilled wise mode, keep practicing it.
-
The thing you're missing is time playing 1v1 which comes up in the smaller playlists (Salvage, Rumble, Skirmish). In Control, you have a lot more teammates that are either helping you teamshot the enemies or just providing bodies around you so you're not the only one being shot at. What got me better at 3v3 playlists is playing Rumble as well as those lists because they demand an entirely different mindset from that necessary for Control. I'm now better at 3v3 lists than I am at Control! Haha. And honestly, I prefer the 1v1 situations over Control because they offer much more rewarding gunfights. (I'd rather be duking it out with one guy focused on me solely than be hitting a guy in the back who's distracted with 3 of my teammates). TL;DR: practice 3v3 playlists and you will make you a better player due to 1v1 situations.

Because you are a woman.
-
Step 1) Shoot Step 2) Die Step 3) Repeat Step 4) Profit Of you keep that up you should maintain k/d of around 1.0.
-
Have you tried shooting them back?

2 RepliesProbably need to slow your game down. A lot of people are so used to having something to always shoot at in 6v6 that they go out of their way to find enemies in 3v3. When really you need to be more patient and stick with your teammates. If you see one enemy separated from his team, use your entire team to gang up on him for an easy kill
-
We. You team - shoot enemies, they go down fast. Stick with your FT and keep up the fire.
-
Skirmish is not 6v6, you need to get use to it. Get in the habit of reviving when possible. Also, learn to play Elimination. Do not attempt Trials until you've done that, and get use to level advantages by playing Iron Banner when it's around.

4 RepliesEdited by RaptorJeebus: 6/12/2015 2:17:03 PM3v3's are alot more tactical and require a completely different awareness and mindset. #1: NEVER PLAY WITH RANDOMS. #2: Inspect your opponents, what weapons are they using (snipers, shotguns, fusion rifles) and change your weapons accordingly, not just to counter theirs but depending on what map it is (having at least 1 sniper and 1 shotgun on long range maps such as Shores of Time). #3: Revives above all (make sure 2/3 are using fast revive gear (Light Beyond Nemesis, Alpha Lupi)) - not only does it give you points, but it also gives you a shield and tipping the scales into a neutral position. #4: Communication and teamwork, talk to your team mates and always have one person watching the flank (unless all enemies are grouped up, then one of you should flank them). You should also spread out so that you can cover more ground (for the minimap, always call out pings). #5: THIS IS NOT CONTROL, THIS IS NOT CLASH, DO NOT PLAY IT LIKE IT'S A 6v6!

Edited by Saint Elms: 6/13/2015 10:16:10 PMI wasn't happy with my performance either, so what i did i went into crucible and practiced control, skrimish and clash found guns i liked and forced myself not to use them and then i worked on my tatical thinking and communication skills

3v3 is a completely different monster than 6v6. there are less people on each team meaning your life and the responsibiity you have to get a kill is exponentially higher, the same goes for your opponent. espcially in an elimination game mode such as trials. fundementally when you play 6v6 the player your engagin cant deal with the mindset of 6 other people around them, spawns, the flow of the map, whats in a peanut butter sandwich making them much easier to kill. in a 3v3 people are more locked in and with comunication its easy to determine how many engadgements you need to win (people in your dirrect vicinity). hope this helps

Hmm suck incredibly hard?

Edited by prettygooz: 6/14/2015 7:49:58 AM3v3 is like a stand off. You can't go balls deep and rush in, you have to be tactical and calculated like a serial killer. Make one mistake and the opposing team already has an advantage. You have to make them make the mistake first.

1 ReplyI guess you're just bad... idk? Idk man, I just don't know!!
-
I find i can do well in normal clash / control but the edgyness of 3v3 gets to me everytime. Rarely do i get a good kill count
-
That's how I am too with clash and control, I'm not that good at those two, but rumble is where I shine most of the time.
-
3 RepliesEdited by YOUR UNCLE RlCO: 6/14/2015 5:07:36 AMA lot of people who play 3v3 are in a team. They have communication. You can't have that with randoms who won't go in the team chat
-
3v3 elimination is a whole different type of game than any other PVP. It requires a totally different game style play. I can usually go 15-8 or better in any given game in crucible. But 3v3 is harder cause the other teams are usually communicating. Get rid of radar in 3v3 and I'd do great :)
-
I'm an okay control player but I can carry 100% skirmish/trials lol
-
If you do well in control but bad in 3v3, you probably struggle in the 1v1 encounters
-
Same here ... Exactly .. Although I've had a few good runs .. Play with friends .. Communicate ... I've Played better this weekend ..
-
In clash and control there are so many people that a lot of people just rely on general chaos and confusion to get kills. This is part of why shotguns are so prevalent, because guys can just run around and use the chaos to thier advantage. But in a 3v3 mode it is more tactical, they know where you are and you know where they are. Are you going to make a move or are they? What are you going to do? What are they going to do? These are all things that run through your mind..then suddenly there's a flurry and it's over...
