Why does Bungie/Destiny PUNISH PvE-ers?!

So I've played Destiny since Day 1. I play with my wife and (she plays as often as I do which is every day), and we do a lot of the non PvP stuff(we even made a small clan). It's not that we aren't competitive we just don't see the point when PvE is fun and has a STORY behind it: The bad guys want to kill you/your God-esque thingy. Kill them first. Very simple but players come back so yay. However, after HoW dropped I've noticed a trend I had hoped I was wrong about: Destiny punishes PvE (player vs. enemy/monsters) while rewarding PvP (player vs. player). My Proof (based on just this week's material and past patches): I have played PvE/PvP equal amounts of time this week to date. 1) Prison of Elder's/Engrams have a RNG Loot table that RARELY pan out while Trials of Osiris tells you EXACTLY what you can win for every win you earn. This means that if you win five matches you are guaranteed Armor while if you do PvE for that same amount of time/effort you are guaranteed NOTHING! 2) Of the plethora of engrams/PoE chests I've accessed I have seen no exotics and the few legendary engrams (love the drop rate of those by the way!!! NOT!!!) have been crap by anyone's standards. Meanwhile 1 in 2 crucible/Trails matches I've played has seen someone gat a legendary, one guy got an exotic and he was in LAST place. 3) This is the biggest pain everyone will feel with me by now: WHY ARE WE STILL PICKING UP GREEN ITEMS!?!? For PvE you stop needing/wanting/USING greens at about Lvl 17-18. We are in the 30's now, so why do the greens keep falling with SUCH frequency?! By the time you hit the mid 20's the rng for Blues should replace greens and hit 80% ish while Greens and Legendaries each cap at 10%. Most legendaries suck after decoding anyway, but this way PvEers don't feel like they worked so hard to get the same trash. On that note Crucible/Trials players get gear better suited to their levels. Why? 4) Grinding: There isn't any in PvP except in Iron Banner. 5) This weak as an example Trials/Crucible is fairly straightforward, the difficulty never changes, while your skills/gear improve. The PoE boss this week on the other hand is the equivalent of a raid boss: Atheon with Instant death on the bubbles instead of a teleport and a LEGION of mobs versus Atheon's controllable few. At the end of a raid you are guaranteed SOMETHING however. For the same HOURS of work in PoE you get 1 Etheric light and a couple chests with items you can practically get ANYWHERE you usually grind (Noticing a trend yet? Bungie thinks that for PvE More Grind=More Fun! Is that what YOU think? Yes you!). 6) The Early Queen missions vs. Iron Banner: One was loosely story related, had a bug that let you farm gear/materials, so they removed it. IT NEVER CAME BACK. Iron Banner was the PvP equivelant, had the same bug, had the bug fixed and now comes out every two weeks to reward PvPers Destiny-wide. 7) Nerfs: When PvEers notice a bug, glitchy boss, or overall unfun pain in the rump it take Bungie MONTHS on average (a fact since some of those bugs still remain even now) to fix/patch. On the same train if PvEers find that rare area, looking at the under side area on Archon priest or the loot cave for starters, that (omg) HELPS them without hurting anyone in the game or out Bungie almost immediately patches it! In PvP it goes like this: "The PvEers got a cool gun that PvP can't get, so we need you to nerf it (the Vex Mythoclast: a little OP in Crucible, but ALL FUSION RIFLES ARE ONE-SHOTS ALREADY)!" or this "Everyone's using the same gun to kill me. I know, one of the Iron banner bounties EVERY day is headstots with Auto Rifles and there's only one gun that's acurate enough for that, and everyone has one by now, but you should totally nerf the gun, not put in a broader, more simple bounty... Wait! You did both a Banner or two ago?" As you can see if you whine in PvP it gets done within 2 weeks to a month. PvE: 2 months to... never. Oh yes, PvE gets the shaft HARD and Deep!!! 8) The patches they do for PvE are few and usually don't help us (weapon tweaks/outfit looks/lack of being able to change face) while the patches for PvP involve nerfing GAME-WIDE every gun at one point or another? Bungie couldn't nerf the guns for just PvP arenas apparently, but instead decided that many of the guns that were used out of the arena should suffer regardless of area. Along those lines let me ask you: Why did they buff Pulse rifles? They say it's because no one used them. That's true becuse most pulse rifles were weak as heck and many still are just look at the impact... usually no more than a sliver. No one uses them except on burns (Oversoul Edict) or because not being able to heal (a PvE punishment found in the hard Crota raid)/dying sucks (Red Death). The last weapon I'll mention is a blatant example of PvP favoritism: Thorn. Obtainable only by toiling through hundreds of kills in Crucible followed by a grueling strike, Thorn has a unique Damage Over Time perk. Let's face it, the perk in terms of PvE SUCKS by doing a low percentage of the the initial damage. What that means is that all those High HP shielded Knights/Captains that you wish you could DOT barely feel it while dregs and thralls that you can one-shot anyway never will. In PvP, however, Thorn is one of the most-used weapons, not for it's power (it's still bout average as Hand Cannons go), but because once again: Not being able to readily heal sucks. In conclusion: Bungie hates PvEers. Is that why the story continues to be so weak and lackluster (Not one HoW cutscene, Bungis?), while PvP continues to gain new material like Trials, another Iron Banner, and the Tower? Why PvP has better drops AND rewards like special PvP-earn only gear, low rates of blues and NO GREENS? Why PvP has more maps/locales like Mercury and the aforementioned Tower? I can't make you agree, but Bungie practically SCREAMS it at us every week. Bungie, I understand that PvP games are a competetive market, but story-rich, PvE MMO's for consoles are new ground! Don't focus so heavily on your competition when you could be preventing future competitors on another front YOU CREATED. tl;dr: Talking about issues with Destiny. Namely: PvP gets ALL the bribes/perks/equipment and special attention after house of Wolves. I prove that Destiny favors PvP players over PvE in ALL aspects of gameplay and patching.

  • Unfortunately PVP gets butts in the seats to jack up the player population so it looks good when they do their stock update calls. Notice that POE and the wolf bounties take a little longer than normal stuff. This ups the time played. PVE is weak in this mess, so those looking for true story, bits of RPG have figured out that it isn't here and gone elsewhere. Ever notice POE is PVP-like: go do 5 rounds, no reason behind it, win the rounds, get crap (literally). I have only gone through the 28 version of POE, don't see why I should even try the higher level. It is boring. By about the third time through, the spawn points are known so camp and kill as they come out. Use Bad Juju and pick them off as they come out. Was hoping for something better, but should have known by now. Not sure I'll get whatever crap they are shoveling in the fall. Probably not. The only reason I am still playing is for venting after work. Have done the missions so many times, I don't have to think, so I can just kill stuff. I have the Witcher 3, and I actually have to keep track of what I am doing because there is a story, as well as difficulty in the combat. If Fallout comes out when it has been hinted, I'll never look back (October 20-ish).
