I realize this is fan fiction, but the fallen were not apart of the collapse. They didn't appear till later.

How do you know? The Fallen may have actually CAUSED the Collapse. Nobody says anything about how the Collapse actually happened. This is just my best guess.

Go read the Fallen grimoire. It says they 'arrived on their massive ketches in the wake of the collapse to loot and pillage our devastated worlds'.
