The Venom Soldiers are escorted to a table and chairs in the center of the camp. Sitting across from them is an officer in a greatcoat, whose face is concealed by a gas mask. The officer leans forward and pushes a file forward. "Here's what we need, and here-" (Several boxes filled with credits are placed on the table) "is the lease for the land, and the money to pay for it." The Venom soldiers are escorted out of the camp, and the doors are closed.
-
*I appear in the middle of the camp* So you must really want this land... Sending my men off with money like that. Hate to inform you, but I'm in need of explanation. I don't work for just money.
-
"Look, we're on the run. We landed here because we used to have allies here, but you all kicked us out. The money's what the land cost is when Outlaw was around, but we can get more if you need it."
-
Run from what?
-
"We think they're Impies. Even though we have a treaty with the New Empire, these guys've been chasing us."
-
Imperials eh? Had some try to land on the airstrip, wanted to talk. Don't really remember what happened, but they've not been back. You've got spacecraft, correct?
-
Not any big ones. If they worked, we wouldn't be here.
-
So you immediately came here... You know, I'm really not liking you on my land, regardless of pay.
-
"It's the only peaceful system in the area. We lost 8 ships last time we tried this. This is honestly our last chance."
-
I honestly don't care. You've got a whole system, and you choose to trespass? Come on, pack it up and take your ass off my planet. There's plenty of others.

The fleet disperses as quickly as it arrived, and the mobile fortifications are gone as well. Suddenly, a group of smaller craft detach from the larger ships and ram into the area around the firebase, in a seemingly random pattern. The small craft explode, but from one crash site, a large pulse of electromagnetic energy begins to appear.

Edited by Trashcan Jesus: 6/11/2015 9:38:12 PM*all craft are intercepted prior to getting within 10 miles of the base, and are shot down by fighter jets and AA encampments. From the bay, a single shot echoes across the base, you see a streak of light shoot into the atmosphere. I disappear, and within moment, a hail of white-hot depleted uranium shards rain down upon your encampment, vaporizing everything within 25 miles in a horizontal area. The pulse only knocks the base's external shielding down to half-health. A barrage of AA lights up any of your craft in the air and atmosphere, severely damaging and killing many. Artillery lights up the sky as 16in high explosive shells decimate anything left on the ground, soldiers begin mobilizing immediately. A second shard is fired, ripping into the craft above, tearing the engines apart as it melts though.*

The ships already left, the camp is gone, the craft are non-hostile, and the pulse is something special, not a weapon.
