Seeing speculation about "the taken" got me thinking about the hive and where they came from.
Ive got an (honestly kinda stupid) explanation for it
The Hive are guardians that lost their light or were "taken" by the darkness.
My biggest evidence for this is what the hive are, or atleast appear to be: living corpses, basically what the guardians are.
My idea is that without light or a ghost, a guardians body deteriorates because theres no reason it should be alive because, of course, all guardians are the dead brought back with the travellers light.
Losing their light entirely could cause a breakdown of their body, and obviously they wouldnt want that, so they would try and get more of it, the easiest way being to attack guardians that still have light. Theres numourous lines in-game that reference the hive wanting light.
Guardians turned into hive could also be an explanation for why guardian classes have hive counterparts (warlock=wizard, titan=knight, hunter possibly acolyte)
If this is what ends up being true then its entirely possible that Oryx was Dredgen Yor. My reasoning for this is kinda silly, but still an interesting coincidence: Oryx is an anagram of Yor with an x added.
Though with how much backstory Yor has been given id be suprisedi f he didnt show up in ttk
Theres probably tons of holes in this theory, so feel free to point them out or add to it.

1 ReplyOne thing can disprove your theory immediately (the guardian we see dead in front of the giant door when we wake the hive) "there's nothing left... Not even the light"

5 Repliesbut the hive are a race that are millions of years old, they didnt even come from earth. So how could they be dead guardians. Grimore explains ALOT.

4 RepliesIt doesn't anywhere that the hive are guardians. All we know Is that the hive own their existence to five powerful beings
