Future high end content would have to be dumbed down to compensate for the poor quality teams that matchmaking creates.

How it would be optional what point are you missing here?

If they made a raid that had optional matchmaking it would have to be made easy enough to complete with no communication, afkers, trolls, etc. Basically it'd have to be easier than crota if a matchmade team ever wanted to have a chance to complete it. You could argue the same could happen in lfg but with lfg fire teams you can kick people that don't pull their weight.
