Above 2.0 kd players, does the thorn need a nerf?
You guys understand pvp. Does it need a nerf? Below 2.0 opinions will be discarded.
edit: please explain your opinion one way or the other. "Yes" is not an effective answer and will not sway any opinions.
Edit 2: I don't have a 2.0. That is why I'm asking for the opinions of my superiors. I'm asking better players with good reason. These guys understand traffic routes, map control, and are always landing headshots. They simply understand the game on a higher level than 98% of the player base and therefore I give their opinion more weight. I'm tired of seeing "NERF THORN" posts coming from some child with a 0.4. That kid can barely play the game, he knows nothing of it.
Edit 3: Here's my opinion, which should be discarded: if thorn gets nerfed tlw will be op. If tlw gets nerfed red death will be op. If red death gets nerfed someone might take a legendary primary into the crucible and exotics won't be exotics.

Maybe just an increased delay between shots. I use thorn, And TLW, and in a 1v1 battle the last word is just as deadly. Team shooting with thorn is a different story.

The thorn needs a [b]balance[/b] not a nerf. The burn is 4-5 seconds (headshots are 5) it should vary from 2-4 seconds per burn. Also if you or someone else kills the user, the burn should stop [b]immediately[/b]. Like I said this wouldn't be a nerf because I'm not saying change the stats of the weapon.

People with KD's of 2 or higher are pretty much using thorn.

1 ReplyNot all people have 2.0 because not everyone is focused on kd. I'd like to say I'm a good player, but sometimes I'll just mess around and go into a random game and just quick scope or some stupid thing like that. So, therefore I'm going to give my opinion. I don't think the burn of thorn should be able to kill someone, it should just leave them very low.

Doesn't need a nerf just a fix. Imo the only way to make it not as op is to make it so the dot doesn't kill you. Make it so that if the last tick would kill you it just sits on you not letting you recover for a time period. Players can still take advantage and get the kill but they can only die from the spikes themselves. I don't think any gun should be able to kill you when you get shot, run around the corner but your still taking burn damage and die. I understand that it's an exotic but it needs fixing. Don't have to nerf the dot damage or anything just make it so it can kill the player solely on sit dmg. Maybe make it so when the last tick would kill you, you get an agility debuff so it's harder to run away or not jump as high.

1 ReplyAll they need to do is make it so if you kill the thorn user before the DOT kills you then the DOT should stop. It's pretty common for an FPS to have stand out weapons and Destiny is no different, go look at any competitive gaming tournament and you'll never see a huge variance in weapon use. I actually like the current weapon dominance, last word caters to my very aggressive up-in-your-face play style whilst thorn definitely suits a more passive player.

What are people going to be like when hawk moon comes to xbox, their gonna be bitching again about that needing a nerf, if the thorn gets nerfed then something else takes its place, this is what happens then: 1. Everyone cries 2. Gun is nerfed 3. New king is born 4. Everyone cries 5. Gun gets nerfed 6. New king is born 7. Everyone cries 8. Awe fcuk it, you get the picture...!

No i played pvp for a while i didnt see one thorn people that use it know that they are so nooby and above all i have the thorn too i was like -blam!- yeah im going to be op yes i was but it was borring as hell

I think it's okay. Anyone can use it. It's more likely to get due to the fact you can get it from the exotic bounties. It can be easily be outgunned and also for bigger game types it doesn't have enough ammo. That's just my opinion. Main PvP character is my hunter.

Yes it does, because a typical one on one scenario between two good players isn't feasible with the Thorn. Just two headshots and run. Or three easy to get body shots and haul ass.

6 RepliesOf course. The current meta is boring as -blam!-... It's all Thorn, TLW and shotguns. Also they need to re-buff fusion rifles. Fusion rifles are a great counter vs shotguns and the nerf is completely unnecessary after the reduction of special ammo.

The magnums really need some fixing. Mostly the last word. I have good K/D and playing a game where the only weapons used is one type of gun is crazy. The thorn they could make an easy fix like the poison only drops you to 1 hp but the last word can outgun anything. I used autos and pulse rifles all the time and they nerfed them like crazy to where they are barely useable aside from red death. I really hope they fix this games guns so you need to get head shots again and not 3 body shots

After pondering long and hard, i think the last word needs to be fixed over thorn. Thorn is just annoying because of the DoT which requires a little more strategy and patience. TLW is just a cannon that has too much range.
