The only way i can see trading working is not globally but so it is only available after an activity and only within your fireteam. Lets say you finished HM CE and you got an exotic that your friend wants who is in your fireteam, you can trade one item that you looted from the activity to your friend if they are in the fireteam who did the activity with you.
