Destiny Stockholm Syndrome

There was a time when I absolutely loved this game. I used to tell my friends, relatives, my coworkers, my son's friends; anyone who wanted to find a great game: I'd tell them about Destiny. About the potential it had. I was never that great at the game. I'm still not. Yet, through my friends list on both 360 and Xbox One, and through more LFG than I can remember, I had a blast leveling up my characters and gear. Met great people. Had great laughs. Had FUN. The "grind" was never that bad, as long as I was having fun. With others (you know, the way ALL games are meant to be, with a few exceptions), it made all the difference. When the people you play with become bitter towards the game you do, too. When they quit playing the game, it's even worse. And when the only people left playing the game are bitter, or spend little time dedicated to anything else (I have a family, a full time career, and full time school, so I can't relate), it stops being fun for the casual yet dedicated gamer. I'd like to have fun again. I'd like to pick up the controller, regardless of the time of day, and find people that want to have fun, all the while improving themselves and those they play with. I still love this game. Maybe I'm just suffering from Stockholm Syndrome (Cosmodrome Syndrome?)
"A game is an opportunity to focus our energy, with relentless optimism, at something we’re good at (or getting better at) and enjoy. In other words, gameplay is the direct emotional opposite of depression." - Jane McGonigal
