Im not condoning cheating. But....

I understand why people want to get a 9-0 on the trials. They want the lighthouse. They want the good gear. So people are going to nefarious lengths to get it. Lag switching. Glitching out before the end or the beginning to not register the loss. Now. This is where human nature amazes me. Because. The whole forum and community is up in arms screaming "BAN THEM. BAN THE CHEATERS!!" But. How many of you have pushed atheon over the edge. How many of you have jumped on top of the tower or self revived at the bridge. Used the little ledge on the arkon prince strike. Just to be in with the chance of getting the good gear?? Is it because its against another human that cheating is so unforgivable?? Just a thought??!!?? Edit number 1. As somebody tried to point out. I am in no way condoning cheating. But thanks for trying to make it about me. What I am trying to get at is..... People cheat in all walks of life. From athletes. To businesses people. What makes one more socially acceptable than the other?? Case in point. The bungie devs did not mean for you to cheese the bridge. So this is outside of the game rules set by the devs. (They wanted you to hold each totem and send one person over sword by sword so that is the "rule" of the game.) But because no humans were hurt in the cheat its OK? How is this OK?? It's not either is it?? Edit number 2. Comparing PvP to pve is very possible. What you are not understanding is. Why is it alright to cheat one part (pve) and not the other (PvP) this is my point! Edit number 3. Who gives a feck where my definition of cheating come from? If you got to the Collins English dictionary website. You will get almost exactly the same result!!

  • If you cheat in PvP you're taking something from other players.

      • Cheesing is not cheating. The bridge cheese, or the ledge at the archon were made into the game. People will find the fastest and easiest way to get to the end. I do believe lag switching is cheating.

      • I think it's more of an issue cheating in PvP because in PVE youre not screwing someone out of their gear or weps etc. in raids you're just manipulating the system but you aren't hurting other players game. In Pvp, you're affecting what other players worked hard for and ruin their experience and rewards.

          • Because you're impugning other players' progress. Cheesing the bridge isn't stopping anyone's progression. If you lose fair, and you have the shit morals to work your way around it, you deserve a ban, or better yet, all of your gear, including weapons, deleted. I'm sure a lot of people would stop if they thought their almighty Gjallarhorn was going to get trashed.

I think it's a fair question to ask. I think it can be summed up with these analogies. PvE cheating = going 65mph in 55mph zone. Everyone does it, and it's a mutually inclusive activity. PvP cheating = using an exit lane to cut in front of others in heavy traffic. Some people do it, and it's a mutually exclusive activity.

exploiting a glitch is still exploiting a glitch and I believe the official reason for banning is exploiting a glitch

          • The problem is that people don't understand what ToO is. It's an endgame activity for the best PvP players. Not everyone is meant to play it and go flawless. If people want to exploit the cheating go ahead but it only shows how bad they are at the game. You lose you lose. Grab a new passage. Wasn't this game supposed to be about grinding anyway?

If fine with anyone cheating, knock yourself out if thats what you want to do. I have pushed atheon over the ledge over 50 times, the number is so high cuz i would help all my friends do it even after i did it on all 3 of my warlocks. I shot in the loot cave for hours upon hours, even though this isn't as bad as pushing atheon off the ledge, ive pushed the templar off the ledge. But with this the whole team agreed with it. Like i said im fine with cheating but if you are cheating to ruin someones experience in the game then i do not believe its right. Example: pushing atheon or "cheesing" a boss, the whole team agrees to do it and they all benefit. Lag switching or using hacks in pvp ruins the other teams experience and causes them a loss because they are playing fair I dont play trials because i don't have friends that do it plus im mostly a pve player but is i was very serious into pvp, which i am when i do play it, i would not want my win streak or my lighthouse taken away from because someone decided to cheat and cause me and my team a loss

          • I don't play trials at all since its nothing but a glitch fest. Alas I believe the ones screaming ban are the little kids on the forums who would scream ban for anything and talk out their asses.

          • Hampering another players experience is far worse then using effective/non intentional usually patched methods to beat the enemy ai.

          • The problem is all of the real life examples are cheating against OTHER people as is PvP because you are facing real players that's why it is so bad. If you cheat in PvE you're only cheating against the game and thus only cheating yourself out of a challenge.

          • Cheesing and Cheating are two different things, you are comparing lag switchers and people that back out with people that don't affect anyone in any other way just by pushing a boss. To me your post is faulty, you might want to rethink what you are writing.

              • So there is an option to get out of trials before it starts? If if you use it you can get gear banned? That makes no sense to me, since the auto and vex nerfs thorns have been annoying me, if I don't want to fight a team of them and I have the option to bail, how the hell is that cheating?
