Marathon vs. 2 & Infinity
I think its pretty obvious that Marathon is very different to Marathon 2 and Infinity, and they are almost identical, except for plot. What I am saying is that some things in Marathon they took out, in the second two installments to the trilogy. For example the Assault Rifle, i think it looks much cooler, on screen, and in concept than the Rifle in Marathon 2 & Infinity. I also like the On-screen look of the Marathon Rocket (I think it looks more futuristic), but in concept, the M-2 rocket is cooler. There are a lot of differences, what do you guys like better? Don't only think about weapons, though...

So let me try and decypher this: Marathon is not as good as Marathon 2 and infinity and that the two storylines dont conflict. I'm not dissagreeing I just want to confirm that "=" part.

yeah, i definityly wish there were more easy-to get alien weapons, it seems like you have to wait forever to get any more than a fusion pistol and an assault rifle

I dont know what I'm on, I just think it went against everything I've played for in 1 and 2. And if the main charcter returned to Earth, wouldn't he be considered a criminal?

The only Daunting factor I HATE about Marathon Infinity is that on some levels you have to kill HUMANS. Imagine having to kill Marines and bieng on the Covenant's side. THEN having to kill the new ODST characters and almost never get to play on there side. It felt terrible, you read the manual and it'll get you all exited about Fusion Bobs but then it turns out you have to kill them all. It just made me feel terrible hearing there screams as I torched them with my TOZT.

I like the weapon designed in M2 and infinity more. They just seemed more sleek. On a side note, it is always good to see topics that actually adhere to forum guidelines in this forum.

Sorry guys scratch what i said earlier. I LOVE the Assault Rifle from M1 and hate the one from M2. I like the rocket gun in M1 more aswell as the magnum(feelin lucky punk?). The flamer in the last two was better though.

Marathon Infinity is my favorite. It is the most challenging and has the most impressive level design IMO. The space station levels like Ay Mak Sicur are glorious. I also love the final few levels. Very dark and chilling, you really feel like the universe is about to end (again) and this is your last chance to stop it. About the whole M2 ending conflict, I don't think anyone really knows. I believe it does happen...in one timeline or another. Things get pretty muddy after the universe collapses the first time around. ^_^' EDIT: If M1 or 2 has the flechette gun, the scales might have tipped in their favor. Marathon 1 was the best overall but I wish it had had more Alien weapons early on.

yeah i dont know why they switched it. I think most people like the Marathon 1 Assault rifle better, i mean it looked like a handheld gatling gun

I liked the assault rifle from Marathon one the most. Mainly because all of the art you see of the Security Officer holding a gun, seems to be him holding that one, and it looks mean. It looks like the type of gun, that you pick up to kill people, because they need killed, and you do it despite how big or clunky the thing is because there is a job to do. The sleaker Marathon 2 assault rifle looks like something you would find in a ladies purse.

I like a mix of weapons from all of 'em. Pistol-M1 Fusion Pistol-M2/Moo Assault Rifle-M1 SPNKR-M2/Moo TOZT-No Preference Alien Weapon-No Preference

I prefer the weapon designs of M2 and Infinity over M1. Although there was a dark feel to M1 that wasn't achieved in M2. I can't say anything about Infinity, I haven't played single-player yet.

I like both personally. Although i didnt like how the weapons looked in the first one.
