Serious question. I feel like I can survive a trip mine with full armor as compared to having a little less armor. Is this in my head?

1 ReplyI love how the ram is letting me survive trip mines and shoulder charges. Had one titan continuely trying to charge me in IB last night and I was like Bruh... here's my shotty to the face again

No, in normal pvp it means nothing really, only in IB and TOO does it really have any effect. You can take level 20 blue armor and weapons in normal pvp and do as well a with legendary or exotic since damages are normalized in normal pvp.

Edited by SegmentedMoss: 6/5/2015 11:27:59 PMArmor = total HP Recovery = How long before your HP starts to regen Agility = Base movement speed So a higher armor rating means more HP to start off with. You want to max out Armor and Speed as much as possible in PvP

Yes it makes a difference. I tested it in rumble with a friend.

Edited by Erijian: 6/5/2015 11:24:02 PMBy armor, I assume you mean the Subclass one right? Lots of people like to call that 'Toughness' instead to avoid getting it mixed up with your actual armor stat. But on-topic having your Subclass with maximum Toughness does let you survive a Tripmine Grenade, and normally one extra bullet from Auto Rifles. It's not that big of a difference, but coupled with the new Warlock Exotic that came out called The Ram Toughness became the strongest stat on Warlocks in PvP. Having it maxed with The Ram lets you survive things like two Thorn Headshots, an additional The Last Word body shot, two bursts from Red Death, Shoulder Charge, Flux Grenades, Bladedancer's Shockwave, two Melee attacks, and one to two extra bullets from most weapons in the game that aren't OHK ones.

The choice of armor is a chance to display your sense of fashion. To be a trendsetter you must have the latest gear.
-
It only makes a different if you're at max armor. If you're not then you might as well go low and focus on recovery and agility.
-
I run my titan with max armor and survive a tripmine from 34 players but with so little health that if someone sneezed on me id explode. Normally max armor means you can take one of two more shots. Which may be the difference in life or death

8 RepliesA Titan with max armor can survive two thorn headshots. Armor does do something but only if it is really low or really high. In the middle you won't notice it much.
-
It's basically a +25ish hp boost. Enough to survive a tripe mine grenade. Barely another shot of damage though. Sunsinger+ram+armor is totally worth it though

6 RepliesArmor from your gear means nothing in standard crucible. However armor from your class perks does matter. I hit 3 people with my trip mine. 194 damage on each. 2 died, one lived. So either it's a glitch and showed the wrong number, or armor from your class tree increases your effective health ever so slightly.

3 Repliesrly i think its proximity if you're stnding on it or stuck you're dead, the farther away the less dmg you take same goes for homing like scatter grenades if you get hit by 50% of them then you'll live abit, all=you die

Armor helps especially with the ram

I've always wondered what difference (if any) the adjustable stats on your skill tree make to overall performance.
-
I thought armor only mattered for pve.
-
Your armour value is how many hitpoints you have. If you max it out you will survive a tripmine.
-
You can survive 2 thorn headshots/1 tripmine with full armor
-
I upped my armor stat today because I was fully agility, after upping the armor I definitely survived longer.
-
It only adds somewhere between 2 and like 7 HP, but because of the way they've set the damage on certain things, this makes a difference. Tripmines do like 199 or something, so if you've put perks into armor and have 201 HP, you can survive it. There's several other instances of this (certain numbers of shots from specific weapons may leave you with 3 HP rather than killing you, melee damage can get screwy, etc).

Well if everyone has the same armor number how would it? Don't know why all classes get the same such a dumb design choice.
