I've been messing with the vehicle creator in the new Banjo-Kazooie, (great game, by the way) and one of the first things I tried to do was recreate Halo vehicles. The first one I finished was the Hornet, and right now I'm working on the Ghost, Warthog, and Mongoose.
I'm trying to make them as close to the Halo 3 versions as possible, and still be playable in Banjo. Bear in mind that I'm trying to keep these pretty much in scale, so I can't add a ton of little details. There are also only two shades of green, so for UNSC vehicles it's either what I have now, or a really really light green (or snow camo versions).

I considered adding Homing Missiles, but there not much ammo, and they wouldn't get many shots. Comparison shot
-Ghost (View 2) This is one that I really feel like I can do much better on, and I'll probably redo it eventually. I tried to keep it in scale, which probably screwed up some of the details, so a larger one would definitely get the curve right on the front, and make the guns look smaller.
*Warthog coming soon!*
*Mongoose coming soon!*

I like the ghost but it looks just a tad bulky in front of the seat. I would connect the two sides of banjo to the cubes in front of him with some curved blocks. [Edited on 12.01.2008 6:15 PM PST]

lol that is sweet, great work.
Posted by: Muck Da Duck Hmm that's weird. The guy's post that said "let's see you do better" is not there anymore... Well here is mine. Oh and I made the Hornet the Avalanche color. Hornet and Mongoose. Let me know if I should take better screenshots.
That hornet's really good. The Mongoose, I can't really tell. A side view would be good, and maybe a passenger seat? Anyway, Hornet version 2 - removed extra panels, moved back cockpit, new landing gear (No more awkward wheels!). Ghost, view 1 A different shot of the Ghost. This is one that I really feel like I can do much better on, and I'll probably redo it eventually. I tried to keep it in scale, which probably screwed up some of the details, so a larger one would definitely get the curve right on the front, and make the guns look smaller. Still, the current one is pretty much done. and it drives pretty much like a Ghost, so I'll post it. I'm working on the Warthog now, but there's a few little details I can't quite make the way I want, so I'll probably put that up tomorrow.

Well I've never played the game, so I wouldn't know how hard it is to make vehicles that actually look like they're from Halo. So I'll say great job!
Posted by: MattCK89 What is the point of that game? Is it literally just build vehicles? Or is there more to it?
Build vehicles to use in various wacky challenges. Such as: knocking down dominoes, fetch quests, races, sumo matches, water polo, cooking an egg, collecting coconuts, etc. There's a bit of a learning curve when it comes to making vehicles, but it's a very fun game. There's a demo on Marketplace to help you get an idea of it.
Posted by: Lord Joseifius 2 where are the giant turbines, landing skids and tail?
-Propellers are the best I could do for propulsion. There are jet engines I could have used but they're one block-length too long. I would have to attach the engine and fuel somewhere else, and there's barely any room for them as is. Besides, they don't move, so the vehicle would basically be able to go up, and in no other direction. Propellers allow it to hover in place, and move easily in all directions. -The Halo 3 Hornet's landing gear isn't very prominent, and it's hard to add something so subtle with the parts that I have available. Currently, the vehicle is balanced by the wheels and the grenade gun. -I'm not exactly sure what you mean by a tail, could you please elaborate? The next time I get online, I'll try some different landing arrangements, as well as finishing some of my other vehicles.

youve got the bare bones, if you wanted a forward swept cockpit with twin shoulder cannons. where are the giant turbines, landing skids and tail?
Posted by: frogspartain take off the 2 front panels, and move the seat back one space, and your good to go
Now that I look at it side-by side to a real Hornet, I think that I'll definately remove those panels, but I'll have to see exactly how it looks with the seat moved back before I can be sure. Thanks for the feedback everyone!
