"We’ve seen you backing out of matches on final approach in your ships because you saw formidable opponents on the other team. That tactic could earn you a restriction from future Trials of Osiris events. Please stick it out and fight – even if you know you’re about to be visited by tourists from the Lighthouse." - DeeJ, Weekly Update 6/4/15 I don't give a -blam!-. I don't owe that other team my time. I don't owe them my ass to stomp. If your matchmaking system pushes me against a group that severely, obviously outclasses my group of guys that has yet to get to the Lighthouse, I don't - nor does anybody else - owe them our deaths. Our penalty is on our card in the form of the loss we take. If you have a problem with people backing out of these matches, then don't count them as a Win for the other team. Trials of Osiris has some serious design flaws. Solve them. UPDATE: I should have edited this sooner, I apologize. I am aware of the Change Character exploit some folks may have been doing to avoid a loss. I was admittedly fuzzy on this issue when I initially posted. I believe a lot of my argument still stands, however, and, as others have noted in their replies, Trials of Osiris needs something done to its matchmaking. A simple step in matching Lighthouse Veterans to other Lighthouse Veterans, for instance, would do loads of good in evening the competition by placing the Proven against the Proven, and the Aspiring against the Aspiring.

  • Lots of "lighthouse veterans" also quit out. And if you're too much of a vagina to fight it out then stop doing crucible.

    • Wait, Deej actually said that? -blam!- him and Bungie in their assholes. I'll back out of matches when and where I goddamn please. I paid for this half-finished -blam!-bus of a game and I'll play it how I goddamn please. -blam!-wads. This is why I'm going to ESO

      • I see people saying you should be matched by skill level If trials was broken down by skill level the ultimate goal would not be achieved. The lighthouse is meant to honor the BEST PvP players in destiny. Not the best players in your skill bracket. I get what you are saying but this isn't an everybody wins elementary school T-Ball league. This is hardcore competitive PvP tournament for the BEST. If you can't beat the other team then you are unworthy of being in the lighthouse period. Trials of Osiris caters to hardcore players and rewards them. It is not a design flaw at all. "But it's not fair, 90% of us will never get there" exactly that's the point! Choosing your battles and only playing people you can beat in a system designed for the best is CHEATING. You deserve your bans.

        • #solution Make characters who have already been to the lighthouse for the week ineligible for trials, 3 runs and done, then you can go play the new elimination gametype

          • Or simply add SBMM. They put it in for Elimination (crucible) but took it out for ToO. Funny isn't it?

          • Matching lighthouse veterans won't change a thing because sooner or later half of those veterans will end up back with the noobs and then back up with the veterans, it will be the same thing.

          • I would love to see the number of players that made it to the lighthouse after the bans started versus the first two weeks. Would kike to see the drop after the implementation of ban rules.

          • I don't like it cause there have been a few issues where one team member will get an error code weasel on descent and honestly... How you going to win 5 with 2v3 (side note: respect to the fire teams that have done it)

          • I honestly don't even see why people care so much. It gives me a free win so I'm ok with it. Back out all you want or switch characters all you want. I will get to the lighthouse whether you do that or not.

          • ToO just goes to show how badly implemented everything in Destiny is. We are fast approaching 1 year since launch and this game is still in Beta Testing apparently.

              • If you are worried about losing in the trials then clearly it's not the game mode for you. After running flawless 6 times I still think that it is perfectly fair to be paired against anyone and everyone. And trust me, we have had our fair share of getting shat on and that just makes winning that much more enjoyable.

The idea of trials is not to match 'proven against 'proven' or 'aspiring against aspiring'. It is a gametype specifically intended to reward the most skilled/strategic players, and the only way it can do that is by putting everybody in the same bucket (approximately - skill based matchmaking does still occur in trials, it is just given less weight than a solid connection). Everybody faces the same random mix of enemy fireteams and thus it is a fair competition.

              • The problem with skill based mm is theoretically no team should go flawless because each match has a 50/50 chance ce to win or loose.
