Well, at least in Halo: Fall of Reach
I'm reading the first book currently, and I've noticed things like "through" being spelt as "though", and "hypothesis" being spelt as "hypotheses" (That mightr be an American spelling, I'm not sure). I also saw MJOLNIR spelt as MJILONIR and other stuff
Anyway, I'm not going to blind you with a huge list of spelling mistakes and what pages they are on (mainly because I can't be arsed). I was just wondering if it was Bungie who can't spell, or, the more likely explanation, Orbit (the book publishers) can't spell.
I'm not laying onto you about it, Bungie, but I've never seen spelling mistakes in a book before. Are the other books the same? I think the book is awesome, so far. I don't dislike the book. I'm up to the bit where... actually, I'd better not spoil it for others. I'm up to section 5.

I found a mistake in Contact Harvest, It was two words that were in the wrong order. The sentenced made no sense, unless you switched those two words. Josheph who did your editing. Great Book. When is someone going to turn all the books into movies.

It seems to me that proof readers aren't doing their job properly.
neither are you.
Ouch. That's what I get for typing quickly I guess. Oh well, thanks for pointing that out.

R.L Stine used to begin sentences with And But its besides the spelling...If youve read a bad book youll kno that the story telling process in halo is ...Ahem...EPIC

I just finished reading The Cole Protocol, and aside from what seems like many continuity errors, there are plenty of typos in there.
-
By worse i meant words that are easy to spell they mis-spell them.
Posted by: warmaker18 The spelling errors got worse in Halo the cole protocol.
Im half way through the book and I really havent noticed much. Honestly i was thinking it did better than the rest.
Posted by: Iceberg Halo3 I too noticed a ton of spelling errors in most of the books. I find it funny that in the cole protocol issue they done away with time stamps and dates in the headers.
Yeah, that left me confused for a while as to when it takes place. I assume by the fact that the spartans are in active duty and Keyes is still alive that it may have taken place maybe a few years prior to combat Evolved. Im sure checking Halopedia will yield some info.

Yes. If I recall, in reprints of the novels there were spelling correction made... Sorta like a patch. No big deal though. Also in Ghosts of Oyx there was a continuity error. Nothing though couldnt be revised but Im not sure they ever went back and fixed it.

I have never read a novel that does not have spelling mistakes. Perfection is something we can always aim for but never achieve.

Ugh, maths school/college textbooks are the worst. So many wrong answers in the back of the book. My teacher says too :P

Just noticed another spelling mistake while reading the book last night. Near the end, they call the Covenant "the convent". Worst spelling error so far IMO. [Edited on 11.30.2008 3:51 AM PST]
Posted by: MATCLAN
Posted by: Nedus Neither. TOR is the publisher for Ghosts of Onyx. The re-issue supposedly fixed the errors, but I haven't seen it for myself. The errors aren't misspellings of Bungie-created concepts (Sangheili and such), but common words that are just plain wrong. An extra letter here, a missing one there. The timeline issue may be Bungie's fault, or it may be TOR's. Possibly a switched number; I haven't read it in a while. I just remember being confused about some sort of date.
The worst timeline issue is in Fall of Reach, where the events of Halo are listed as happening in 2542 when it was actually 2552 according to the other books and games.
Oh! That explains a lot. The story is amazing, but they're not trying hard enough with these books, are they?

there are most inconsistencies than there are spelling error IMO, but the sheer number of them is uncalled for.

hypotheses is plural. But yeah I remember reading it and there are quite a few spelling mistakes, mostly usage mistakes though.. like though instead of through and they're instead of their, but since First Strike, the others haven't had many mistakes.

What's the difference between the 2 different copies of Ghosts of Onyx? Obviously, I'd like to buy the 'fixed' version.
