So I have seen lots of speculation on this game about "overpowered" weapons not just in destiny, but in pretty much all games where player combat is available. This post, is to tell you: ----EVERYTHING YOU THINK IS WRONG----
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I often get tired of players not doing their research and boasting false opinions, or not reading forum posts through. But what really annoys me is when someone calls a weapon overpowered.
The following weapons have been deemed overpowered by the community
Invective - Last Word - Thorn - MIDA Multi-tool - Vex Mythoclast (before and after patch) - Suros Regime (before patch) - entire fusion rifle class - Snipers with last round perks - Red Death - Universal Remote -Queenbreaker bow - Lord of Wolves.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Might I say, none of these are overpowered. The true problem with destiny's PvP weapons, isnt with bungie, it lies in the community. The community is often too ignorant to distinguish an overpowered weapon vs an above average weapon.
If any gun that is better than another gun was automatically overpowered (which by destinys forum community, that is the case) then what your really asking for, is for every weapon to be the same, which would take out variety. Bungie might as well just make it to where in pvp you can only fight using the same set of armor, everyone gets the same perks, and everyone uses the default assault rifle. because here on destiny, the player base believes in communist gameplay. Understand, just because someone has a weapon that you dont, and that weapon outclasses what your using in some situations or at some ranges. does not make the weapon OP. it makes it above average OR just simply different. those weapons listed earlier are NOT op, they are above average. there IS a difference and you NEED to learn it. The only weapon in destiny pvp history that was overpowered, was the vex mythoclast BEFORE PATCHES. Learn the difference between overpowered and above average. It DOES exist, you just need to stop whining because you keep getting killed by a good weapon that you don't have. I also cannot stress enough, that just because a weapon is TOP TIER (one of the best) does not make it overpowered. leave your comments below and vote.

EDIT: Im seeing a rapid growth in the option that says im wrong and that lots of exotics are overpowered. Let me say one thing. If Thorn is overpowered, then so is Last Word, Invective, Vex, Suros, Red Death, Plan C, MIDA Multi-Tool, and Universal Remote, and many more. Because ALL of those weapons outclass the thorn in some/most/all (depending on the weapon) ranges, and or situations. if you honestly believe that, then your asking that bungie nerf every half decent weapon into a heaping pile of shit in order to meet your communist gameplay requirements. Maybe the answer isnt to nerf anything, but to buff some other exotics that are a little below average, so that more guns are able to compete with the weapons that everyone enjoys complaining about. right now there are about 10 or so exotics that are top tier in crucible. if bungie were to increase this number, then the illusion that thorn is OP, would at least partially dissipate. I think we can all agree, the thorn is a very powerful weapon. but we have two options here. 1. Call for a nerf on the thorn, so that everyone starts using the "next best thing" in which that will get nerfed, and so will its successor, or 2. Buff other weapons further to compete better with these guns, so that nothing is overpowered, and it will add more variety into the game and create a fair fight. (P.S- I am in support for the auto rifle buff.)

Umm you said nothing is overpowered right? Then why is it later on in your edit you say "Buff other weapons so nothing is overpowered"? By stating that you're contradicting yourself by saying there are overpowered weapons. I'm also going to let you know that I also disagree with your post. There are overpowered guns out there, if you make hawkmoon compete against Thorn then Thorn will most likely win because it is a two headshot kill. Hawkmoon is as well but only like less than 33 - 50% of the time. Thorn also has double Hawkmoon's RoF and has DoT that is just absolutely soul rendering in the way that it prevents health recovery. How is that equal in any way?

Dude It's space magic, chillax and enjoy the game ;)

I just read that you said final round snipers are not OP... I disagree with that. One hit body shot should be reserved for golden gun.

12 RepliesMy only exotic I have an issue with is the Thorn. I used it religiously until I got the QueensBreaker and was ready to change my playstyle because of it. My KD was substantially higher when I used the Thorn but now today whenever someone who uses the Thorn in a match is wiping the floor with us, my only other option is to switch away from my Jewel of Osiris, put away my personal playstyle, so that I can counter someone else's playstyle. As far as I've come to use the Thorn, it has no cons to the weapon. Stability is amazing, fire rate is amazing, reload is great, range hardly ever drops unless it's across map, poison gets me plenty of kills. There's no cons to the weapon. Is that okay? I personally don't believe it is. A weapon with no downsides is a broken one. (one time someone said it was balanced because the sight was hard to use, please if you think that makes it balanced, stay in school) That's my 2 cents on the Thorn. Love it and hate it. It's a 'go-to' weapon just like the Vex was in the beginning. In all honesty it's a matter of time till its nerfed.

Thorn is Overused Period.

2 RepliesIdiotic post. Nothing but misguided opinion.

1 ReplyExotics should be op... That's why they are exotics.
-
1 ReplyI've never seen someone declare Invective, MIDA, Red Death, Universal Remote, Queenbreaker's Bow, or Lord of Wolves OP. ever. please link to forum posts stating they need nerfs.

17 RepliesEdited by Delta E27: 6/4/2015 6:31:03 PMSo if the weapons aren't overpowered, why is the majority of the PvP community using them? And why are the top scorers almost always using those weapons? In fact, why are you using them?

11 RepliesYou start buffing things to be close to these "top tier weapons" and this game will turn into CoD. Crucible was much better when it 1st came out. Firefights stopped looking like Halo and more like CoD. It doesn't take skill to put 2 burst or hit someone twice with a handcannon.

Edited by ZEN: 6/8/2015 11:49:00 PMWhat about my left?

1 ReplyThis!!!! Honestly, all we need is an auto rifle buff (preferably same as before 1.1.1) and i feel like this would make crucible alot more balanced

1 Reply(Nechrochasm sucks) -_-

12 RepliesEdited by Im_lost_and_stuf: 6/5/2015 4:34:40 PMI got 2 shotted by thorn in crucible. Yeah not op at all. Oh wait every time it hit me I got partialy blinded since it poisons you and make your visual go haywire. But hey! Not op at all.
-blam!- this guy. It's another whiner but different
My problem with the whole over powered under powered thing is when they nerf whatever weapons in both pvp AND pve. Thus the fate of the Suros Regime and Mytho
-
I agree. The Lack of Tactics is the problem. It's not the weapon it's the user. If you wanna beat thorn with invective - blink and gun! If you wanna beat it with suros or a fusion - flank and gun at mid range! If you wanna kill em with patience and time, or ice breaker, camp and gun in a decent spot! If you fancy a challenge grab The Last Word like I do and have a plain old side strafer shoot out, but get your head shots in. Everyone expects to just run straight at each other and expect to get a guaranteed kill, and cry when the other guy gets it, and blame the weapon. You Nerf junkies aren't trying to find a way to beat Thorn.
You're finding 1000 ways not to beat Thorn... And crying about it..... And it's really -blam!-ing boring.
Bring back the suros!

Cool story

3 RepliesIf people say thorn is op. nope. It's not, it's retardedly made. From some bungie monkey penis. And inserted into some nasty butt hole.
-
1 ReplyIn PvP also those "op" weapons can be countered easily and all they do is kill you quickly and when someone kills you with it, it is mainly cause they have had experience using it also
-
Git gud
-
2 RepliesMIDA and Remote aren't really OP. You can easily find a legendary scout rifle of the same archetype (high ROF, lower impact) and roll it for similar perks. Remote means you don't have a primary you can use at a distance.
-
1 ReplyIt's only overpowered if you know how to use it.
-
1 ReplyBump Bump Bump! Exotics > Legendarys in PvP. Thats the way it goes. And some Weapons Are better than the others. When People Are rushing without a Brain over the entire map, its guaranteed that they get Killed by Thorn, Vex and Co. Pulse Rifles and Scouts Are the Perfect Solution. Just a Little Change in your own Playstyle and the Handcannons Are No Problem anymore. But its easier to bitch about a gun instead of learning new stuff.

1 ReplyOverpowered weapons < Under-skilled players.
