This will change your play style forever, you've been warned!
Anyway, now that formalities are over with, here is how you get to winning in the Trials of Osiris, a skill-based player-vs-player game mode in Destiny's new DLC: House of Wolves. It's as easy as 1, 2, 3 to win your first, all the way up to ninth straight match. Here is the three easy steps!
Step 1: BOONS
Boons are great, they can help boost your wins, or forgive that one loss you couldn't help. However, coins are scarce! You gotta make the best of them! Here is how:
A.) Buy the Favor of Osiris Boon, allowing you to start off with a win (this will come in handy).
B.) Buy the rest of the boons only after at least 4 wins. If you have a bad run, simply start over.
C.) After 4 wins, buy the Mercy of Osiris Boon, forgiving you of a loss. This way, your time is saved on another run, and now the worst is behind you. This means you can now go 5-1 and still be flawless.
D.) At the 7th win tally, buy the boon that gives you two wins for the next match. This way, no matter what, the next match will either put you in the Lighthouse, or will be your demise (but not if you haven't lost your Mercy boon yet!)
Step 2: PLAY STYLE
Everyone has their own distinct way of doing things, whether it's your hair, clothes, or killing fellow Guardians. However, one play style is guaranteed a victory every time. Here it is.
A.) Play conservatively. This means, in short, play safe. Never push the enemy team if they are full. Always fall back if necessary. Carefully pick out when to push them if you can.
B.) Push Ghosts. If you pick off one of their teammates, throw grenades at their Ghost, and push their team. Not only do you have the head-count advantage, but they are also probably busy trying to revive their dead teammate.
C.) If you know how to play Claw, do it. It's great being able to revive teammates and shoot at the same time, and doing so can throw you enemies for a loop!
D.) For those who can decently snipe. If sniping is a skill you have mastered, then do it. Disregard the previous statement about using what the other team isn't. If you can, do. Snipe them, using cover when necessary, and try to get headshots. It's the quickest, most effective way to kill someone. Also, snipe revived enemies. They have about a half-second period where they cannot move, and a high impact sniper can instantly one-shot them back to the grave.
Step 3: GUNS
A.) We could sit here all day debating on what is OP or not in the Crucible. One thing is for sure though, Thorn is the most prevalent Trials of Osiris weapon. You know how the saying goes, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em." So, swallow your pride, and do it. Thorn is an excellent, diverse weapon to use. It has great accuracy, and upgrading it to the Mark of the Devourer perk allows you to force the enemy to retreat behind cover, giving you key strongholds in their area. Also, use rocket launchers with Proximity Detonation. I cannot stress enough how useful this is. Do NOT use Machine Guns. I know they are good for Crucible, but you only need three kills. Rockets are much faster and safer. Finally, use whatever the other team is not using for special weapons. If they are snipers, get in close range with a Felwinter's. If they are playing shorties, hang back and pick them off with a sniper.
These are my best tips for those who haven't made it to the Lighthouse yet, or who need help in Trials of Osiris. Hopefully this helps, and tell me if this was helpful in the comments!

15 Replies>if you can't beat them, join them. >if you can't beat them. >can't beat them. Scrub detected. My team gets all 3 characters to the lighthouse every week (so far anyway) without using Thorn and with only one Warlock per team. Thorn users are predictably terrible Crucible players. Thorn/Sunsingers are even more so. I will still agree with this post because anyone following your recommended strats will be crushed to a pulp by players who actually deserve to get to the lighthouse.
