So you paid $20 for DLC.
Its a brand new day, you log on, and What the hell!? This isn't fun, You wanted that Huge raid, but what you got was a PVP arena that you cannot participate in due to your skill restrictions.
You are frustrated, you are furious, you go on the official message boards.
Dear bungie, make this content accessible for me, I paid $20 for it I should be able to use it
Is that what you said?
But there's a problem, as you said it yourself, You, YOU are the one that paid for it.
A man purchasing a box of condoms is not guaranteed to have sex.
A man purchasing a heart transplant is not guaranteed to live 20 more years.
But those are a bit of a reach here's a more realistic example.
A man paying to enter a club is not guaranteed to stay in all night, he paid to go through the door, if he doesn't get any action or starts a fight and gets kicked out he does not get his money back.
You bought the product, you made the decision, why did you buy a product that you are not able to use? Would you buy a car if you didn't know how to drive?
You are not entitled to ToO wins, to a helpful community (Who, ofcourse won't help you if the best you can do is login and call them names because you're unable to clear your content) or to anything other than access to the content.
You didn't buy a Trials win, you bought the ability to enter trials, you didn't buy a Skolas kill, you bought the ability to enter the prison.
You can argue its unfair or stupid, and if I look at it from your perspective I would agree, but I'm not looking at it from your perspective, I'm not looking at it from my perspective because I want everyone to win and have fun, I'm looking at it from the perspective of common sense, and the simple reality is you are not entitled to the rewards of an expansion simply because you paid for it, if that's what you want there are plenty of games out there that sell item sets as DLC, maybe those games would be a little more suitable for you.

Disclaimer: This is all my opinion. If you believe differently, I will not get angry or insult you for it. There will not be a TL:DR at the end. If you care, read it. If not, feel free to hide the post or mute me. The only thing about the ToO that I'm disappointed with, is that it's only a little more competitive than regular Crucible. The same boring and broken things in the regular Crucible are still present in the Trials. If they really wanted it to be competitive, then they shouldn't allow exotics, supers, Blink, Heavy Ammo, or overshields on revive. -No exotics would seperate the players who use the exotics as crutches and those that use them just because they're amazing weapons. This would also promote the reforge system more. -No supers is pretty selfexplanitory. You can decimate an entire team of six with the press of two buttons in the regular Crucible. Killing three people that are most likely keeping together is easy. Resurrecting yourself after your team has already lost is ridiculous as well. -Let's be honest here, putting a teleport in a game with shotguns that can kill you twenty feet away is stupid. -Heavy ammo is just the same as a super, except you have multiple chances. -If you go down, you should be punished for it. If you go down in the open, you should not be able to escape your screwup simply because someone revived you. Whoever revived you should not receive an overshield just for reviving you. I view the ToO as the PvP equivalent to a Hard mode Raid, and just like there are changes and restrictions in a Hard mode Raid, I believe there should be changes and restrictions in the Trials.

1 ReplyEdited by AVERNL: 6/1/2015 7:58:49 PMTHIS! Also....getting to the Lighthouse feels like "beating the game".....finally.

18 RepliesEdited by R3vMtchDwn5hft: 6/1/2015 7:54:07 PMNo one is asking to be handed wins. At least for myself, what angers me aboout ToO and the Lighthouse is that I do not have the same chance of getting that gear as those who are good at PvP. I am not good at PvP, nor do I want to be as I do not enjoy playing it. And I shouldn't have to "get gud, scrub." I should be able to play this damn game how I want to. However, if Bungie had allowed the gear from the Lighthouse chest to have an equal chance of being dropped from Skolas in the PoE, people would probably not be as upset about it. They should have made both sets of exotics drop from both areas with equal drop rates. That allows people to play Destiny how they choose, instead of, once again, Bungie telling us how we should be playing.

1 ReplyThe dlc is PvP centric. There are many players who don't want to play PvP. It's not their thing. There are also many players who like to play PvP but don't enjoy Destiny's flavor of PvP so they stay away from it. What HoW offers for the strictly PvE players leaves a lot to be desired.

2 RepliesIt's gonna take some work for me to get to the Lighthouse and I'm cool with that. May never get there and that's cool too. HOW EVER (you knew this was coming) the rewards for POE are awful. Queens gear is a joke and I can have a full set of Variks armor by just doing one level 32 a week. I guess there are the bounties at 34/35......yawn.... Not saying they should nerf Trials. But some kind of bump in the quality of PVE rewards wouldn't hurt. People are still going to whine though.
-
Damn, well said.
-
It's understandable that they make the rewards really good but I think the thing that makes people mad is the fact that there is an entire social space that is on your disc but it isn't accessible because you have to win 9 games flawlessly and bear through the thorns and final rounds without losing.

So much bump

2 RepliesI stopped reading after you compared this to a heart transplant. Y'all need to get a life and realize that video games are not that important. Pathetic weasels, you and the I-payed-for-it babies.

2 RepliesAgree from the perspective of personal actions within a players span of control. I tried ToO and am in awe of the PvP talent out there (scored a nice piece of armor, too). I don't agree with the artificial participation walls Bungie creates by not allowing for the OPTION to matchmake Destiny activities. I don't usually have the time to wait for LFG or 'I'm still finding a few more folks'. Let me as the player assume the occasional AFK risk and have access the post game content I paid to play. Especially if they're not going to create in game places to quickly coordinate teams.

Best post all day

2 RepliesYes, I'm sure being good at a video game will get you that job you need or some other tangible life development. Get over yourselves. If your identity is tied to your performance in a video game and you think you are better than others because of it, you're def under the age of 25, probably a loser, and probably always will be.

Amazing

Best post about the DLC yet!!!!

Finally, one post with intelligence.

Most of these kids live in a country where rewarding them for participation is the norm. This is what we are creating in America by showing them that if you work hard, you will get good things, but if you don't work hard, you will still get good things. There is nothing wrong with having exclusive gear for people skilled enough to obtain it. The entitlement in America is becoming so strong it's sickening.
Coming from a guy that doesn't have a single piece of ToO gear and will probably never get to the lighthouse
1 ReplyBump. More people need to learn that not everything can be handed to them on a silver platter, and that you need challenge to keep things fun.
-
1 ReplyWell said. Good luck getting through to the whiners on the forums though

1 ReplyCame for the curious title, stayed for the shitty analogies....the go-to argument crutch for Desticles incapable of structuring a coherent thought.

5 RepliesSo you're comparing a computer game to condoms now? Kind of reflects the whole scope of how wrong your logic is. If you want to stick to the comparison of condoms your Logic should be more like: A man buying a box of condoms, isnt guaranteed that all of the contents of that box give him the adequate protection, .......Oh but wait, it does. And if not the producer is at a wrong. That's a logical comparison, not the one you used. Don't get me wrong, i don't think the lighthouse and ToO should be nerfed. Im not that bad at PVP myself and i like the game mode. But I can definitely imagine the frustration of Some other casual gamers that cant keep up. Their criticism is legit to Some point.

Perfect example! Bump from me.

2 RepliesI just think you are stupid dude.

3 RepliesSoooooo many logical fallacies in the OP...
