So, is PoE more fun than raiding?
Was Bungie correct by not building a raid for this expansion or scrapping it in favor of something else? I think things were changed due to daramining and leaked info, as some of the exotic perks on items are different than those leaked. I think in doing so they simply ran out of time to redo the raid so they just scrapped the idea.
So the question is: Are you satisfied with the Prison of Elders in place of a raid activity?
I myself am not. PoE was fine for last week, but now I'm already tired of it. I'm also tired of the fact that if you want to open the chest you must grind for hours to get a legendary drop just to open. The weapons obtained from the chests and Variks along with the gear itself is all lackluster at best. Opinions?

I admit I was kinda pumped for it after being bummed about no new raid being announced, as the possibilities of a new dynamic setting seemed alluring. I think the level 28 version is the best as it is a random encounter each time rather than changing weekly. [/b]

1 ReplyI see them as completely different entities and enjoy both equally, the PoE is a refreshing change from 3 crotas & VoGs a week but it seems raiding is starting to take a back seat these days.

VoG is fun. Crota's End still feels like a chore, even now that Hard Mode is just Normal without revives (no longer under-leveled). PoE feels like a chore too. I think the lackluster loot is to blame. It feels like the payoff doesn't justify the effort. I'm not complaining because I still run PoE for Etheric Light but the rest of the loot is seriously disappointing.

I only agree in the end loot, that chest big chest gives the same loot no matter what difficulty you play on.

Nowhere near as fun. Yeah it might be easier to organise for some but I miss the 6 man fireteam. Definitely agree on the datamining being responsible for the perk changes too, maybe if people stop putting stock in what they get, they'll stop doing it.

I prefer raids over prison of elders. I really do hate the level 35 prison of elders due to the sheer number of mobs and their spawn rates(I've had times when mobs die and they immediately start spawning more and they have teleported to my team a few times.) Back when Vault was the toughest mode in the game(before you the DB came out) I had the most fun. Crota was pretty fun but doesn't compare to vault, and the prison is currently not worth my time since it isn't as fun as vault/crota, and the prize system is kinda lacking(not to mention the crap armor that they keep selling I mean really strength is the least useful stat on most classes as only the hunter makes consistent use of it with blink strike invisibility. The weapons they sell are also complete crap half the time as well. I like the auto rifle but any 365 hand cannon or pulse rifle well beat it in dps and ttk damage any day of the week and I don't use fusion rifles since their nerf(not counting plan c though since that retained its power though I rarely use that one and the vex is the best "auto rifle" in the game.) Also having shank burn on both weapons is an insult. Trials gear is more appealing but again its the same 2 weakest weapon types in the game right now and I'm not really big on pvp. I was happy with the lv 28, 32, and 34 prison of elders but after I got stuck on skolas until I gave up at 4am in the morning due to exhaustion I decided that the prison is a poor replacement for a raid. The 1st time I killed skolasthe mine spawned on the opposite side of the map and killed my whole team and the 2nd time my team had a shot at killing him I got screwed that day due to a mix of family problems and a power surge that nearly fried my xbox.

I personally would rather raid then play PoE. 6 man fire team over 3 man team all day every day. PoE is okay but the rewards are hardly worth the time. I do PoE for the etheric light since all my old raid weapons are actually worth upgrading. PoE weapons have horrible perks that offer nothing of any value. Oh wow I can deal more damage while in the air. Big -blam!-ing deal. "This weapon does more damage to shanks." Put that shit in a spot like oracle disruptor and give me a useful perk dammit.

3 RepliesAbsolutely positively not. PoE is a joke for the hardened raiders...have yet to get a 30 second Skolas kill, have done it 'legit' each time. Skolas is literally the only round that's somewhat challenging. I don't even find PoE that fun. I do it for the etheric light & to help friends out...that's it man. It kind of sucks it's come to that.

2 RepliesI like PoE but have two big issues: Treasure Keys - seems strange that you can beat the boss on a lvl 34 or 35 but not get assess to the real treasure unless you've been lucky enough to get a flaming treasure key. It's beginning to switch me off PoE. No checkpoints - this is a real bug bear and crazy. Can understand they don't want people skipping all the early rounds but at least allow the same fire team to take a break and restart at whatever level they were at. Not the same 3 players, no checkpoint. Same 3 players, get them checkpoint.

The rewards aren't good enough tbh. I have to grind for hours to get 1 key which gives me below average guns. Sorry i'd much rather wait till the weekend, do trials of osiris, do a few flawless runs get tons of etheric light, sexy armor and damn brilliant guns. And if i want exotics i run a quick crota normal followed by crota hard. 1 flawless run takes less time than a 35 PoE as well.. Besides i hate sitting in the airlock waiting for people's synth timers to go down "because thats the only way we can do this". They had a good idea but royally ****ed it up (as usual) .

Definitely enjoyed Raiding more. I like having 5 of my friends/clan together. It's not that I mind the challenge of POE, it's just that the rewards do not justify the time spent. Spending 2 hours (longer sometimes) to beat level 35 only to get a non-elemental weapon (if you have farmed for a key), an armor core for a piece of armor you only need if you are not already level 34, a weapon core and an Etheric light is just not worth it. It is even more frustrating to see that mastering the end game content of PvP (9-0 run in Trials of Osiris) gets you MUCH better rewards. Sure, I will play POE but I will not spend 3-5 hours per character every week beating level 32, 34 & 35 for such lackluster rewards. I think I will have much more fun in Iron Banner this week with my clan than grinding (and it is a grind now) POE.

It is a room full of enemies and nothing more. It is so pale in comparison. End of game items have went down in quality with each new set of events and that is the fact.

Not to me. First you do endless grind to get a key (and 200 green ammo packs), then you go into prison designed for gjallarhorns, then you once again have a random chance to get a good drop. No time to have fun, joke around with teammates, or assign tasks. Everyone does the same, shoot the boss asap with as many g'horns as you can.

I'm very satisfied with PoE. I enjoy the variety. I really don't want to compare the two though as they're very different. I wouldn't mind alternating between arena locations and raids in DLC's.

No, raids are much better just because u get to meet new people. Plus the mechanics in a raid are much more complicated

Checked most of these people belows profile hardly any of them have completed skolas this week and some of them haven't even beat 34 this week. Its really pathetic how much people rely on 3 extra people.

I don't think it's anywhere near as good as a raid. It was advertised as a "mini-raid", yet the higher level PoE bosses take several hours to complete for the average player.....

I can only speak personally but I would say yes. It changing, modifiers changing, etc all make it new and interesting. The rewards however are so subpar that it really only becomes a place to farm cores and EL. So in 3 months I will say it will probably be a lot less fun than a raid because of the reward system.

Nope. Not even playing. The first week was cool. But instant 34 for people. In a letter of hours. It's stupid. I have been boycotting so they see the numbers. If you look at the numbers they released their 30 million players are not playing either.

2 RepliesNope. I have already gotten very tired of it. And I have only done it a handful of times. After I get all the etheric light I need to level up all the weapons and gear I want, I doubt I will go back.
