The level of frustration I have experienced in the level 35 Prison of Elders has hit a boiling point. My team was only able to make it to Skolas. After hours and hours of going through the most ridiculously hard things, we somehow made it to him. And then one team member had to drop out for real life reasons, because you know, it had been MANY MANY HOURS. Let me say this: all that I had experienced up until Skolas was horrible. None of it was fun at all. Beating each round did not even make me happy because I knew more terrible things were to come. Oh was I right. We were lucky enough to find a third person, but first we had to go through hoops to get him into the fire team (because that's broken in PoE and normal means do not allow additions to the fire team). Skolas was worse. We tried it for an hour until we realized that we were spending 90% of our time running around and trying to revive each other. Then I had to leave for my own reasons, because you know, I can't stay on Destiny forever.
Here are the feedback details:
1 — Playing a 35 mission as a level 34 is not a substitute for challenging, enjoyable gameplay. All this accomplishes is that enemies take longer to kill, and kill you faster. Bullet sponges are not fun. The raid mechanics we’ve had thus far were challenging and can be fun because they were not necessarily about eliminating enemies, and instead you had specific objectives to complete. PoE has some objectives, but they appear to be more of a clever way to keep players from hiding and clearing enemy waves from cover.
2 — If modifiers are randomly assigned each week, then there are going to be some problems. For example, having Airborne and Grounded together; this doesn’t make any sense because enemies (Vex in particular) appear to have the same accuracy/tracking regardless if you are in the air or not, so Airborne becomes pointless unless you want to die faster. I don’t even want to imagine how bad Lightswitch and Grounded would be with the Hive.
3 — Disassembling mines can be a nightmare if you’re not a Hunter and the modifiers are just right. Angry, arc burn Psions will instantly kill you if they hit you with Shockwave, and they will be near, or on top of every mine location. The Hunter has a far greater advantage than other classes because it can go invisible at any time. Which brings me into the fourth detail…
4 — The PoE 35 meta favors specific classes (Sunsinger, Bladedancer, Defender), and this makes it less appealing if you have to play a class you do not enjoy. I prefer Voidwalkers over Sunsingers any day, but if I want to be truly useful in a 35 PoE run (where everyone can die in an instant), I have to use my Sunsinger’s Fireborn. This creates a negative impact on my enjoyment of the game, and has been a problem on every endgame activity that was one level higher than me. If enemies are a higher level, this means that Nova Bombs, Titan Smash, and Golden Gun will not be very effective (if at all). Players are forced to be on the defensive most of the time.
5 — Time consumption of 35 PoE is too high due to the lack of wave checkpoints. I can’t even count the times my group reached the final wave on Round 4 only to be unable to kill the special target before the other Fallen overran us. There ought to be a checkpoint at least on the final waves.
6 — A majority of these problems can be solved by simply allowing Guardians to reach level 35, before doing PoE 35. One level makes a big difference, and it also puts everyone on a fair playing field, and allows them to play the way they want. Without this, the problems highlighted above will always exist.
My final message: Bungie has failed to deliver an enjoyable endgame experience in PoE 35. I understand that PoE 35 is supposed to be hard, but this is NOT the way to do it.
Optional read: Thus far I have very much enjoyed all of the other parts in HoW, and I think Bungie has made huge progress in meeting expectations after TDB. If Comet tops HoW in quality, then I think we’ll definitely have a winner. I want to see this game improve and become even better than what it is today.

I want to see this game improve and become even better than what it is today.
had to quote because I need to be able to refer back, because you wrote a god damn wall of text. 1- Not only does the 35 have enemies one level above you, the final boss actually has raid mechanics. You know, the servitors and the marked for death debuff...Huh, maybe that's why you failed miserably. I found it enjoyable, and having it at 35 makes it a challenge for the skilled, and the skilled only. 2. Airborne and grounded make perfect sense together, your logic is real wack on everything, but let me explain: When you have two contradictory modifiers like that, it forces you to adopt a unique playstyle. You now have to decide: "Okay, am I going to jump so I can do the extra damage to these enemies, or should I stay on the ground so I can't get oneshotted?". 3-4. Eh, I sort of agree, but I'm not bitching bout it. But dismantling mines is also tremendously easy as a defender, voidwalker, or striker if you use your super to take out enemies before you capture the nearby zone... 5. Most of my poes take less then 2 hours, it's simple: Don't suck. 6. You're meant to be just out of reach of it being normal, the enemies are SUPPOSED to be stronger then you. Now, I understand you're probably an okay guy, but I can't let you spread the dumbass disease.

I agree 100% with your statement. Tonight, me and about 6 friends were online with Destiny and chatting together. Three of those friends were on P.O.E. Level 34 with (2)34 &(1) 33 characters. They were playing for about 3 hours and they got stuck on Round 5 boss. Tempers flared and things got said, and eventually some players logged out. A Game should be fun and enjoyable, not a time consuming nightmare. Bungie, my advice is to nerf down the adds for getting killed from across the map with one shot is a bitch. Secondly, the rewards are not up to par compared to the Trails (Those PVP guys have my up most respect). INSTEAD of one etheric light for level 34 & 35 each..up it to 2 etheric lights for each level or maybe 2 for level 34 and 3 for level 35.

I feel your pain man we had a team of two titan and a hunter and after 6 hours we gave up getting killed from dregs and shank from two shot pisses you off specially the arc burn is so bad towards the players takes three shot from fate bringer to kill a scavenger is bull crap you can have the poe 35 won't do it again
-
If it's to hard for you then don't play it!!! Level 34 still gives the ethric light and a gun. It's not supposed to be easy. Not everyone can do it. I can't get to the light house, I'm not crying about it and going to write a message about it's not fair and to hard.. I can't get to the light house for one reason only..... I AM NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Nothing more. Get your skills up or just stay in level 34 till you find a better team or get better. Did you cry like this when you couldn't beat mike Tyson's punch out to???

another raid cheeser crawls from the woodwork in tears, torn stockings and a gaping sphincter after being raeped by a boss they couldn't cheese. time to dust off the old brain cells needed for critical thinking and get to it!

I had a hard time 2 ...bad choice of strategy. ... killed him after 4 hours but a vendal killed me after and I was the only one alive at that time... teammates got rewards and me that did all the job got nothing had 2 more tries at it to go for the chest and I give up to hard .... I'm done with it for now , iron banana for me next week

My team beat the whole poe 35 in 41 minutes

2 RepliesEdited by TheLastTitan: 5/31/2015 5:48:48 AMI hear you. About 4-5 hours of my life wasted on PoE 35 before we all gave up, and that was just today. I'm never doing that ridiculous shit again. The point of a video game is to have fun. PoE isn't fun at all, just tedious and unrewarding. I'll stick to ToO until I'm satisfied I got my money's worth out of this pathetic DLC before I can FINALLY throw this game in the trash.

1 ReplyI beat it yesterday, then I didn't recieve any weapons or armor for doing it. Can't say I was pleased one bit.

6 RepliesIf someone handed me a game to play, but said it would take two hours, and there was no way to save, I'd laugh and tell them to keep it. I don't know why anyone would start PoE unless they're either a) ignorant of the time retired b) have no life and nothing better to do Or c) sadomasochistic.

2 RepliesEdited by Azreal80: 5/31/2015 11:20:27 AMSpot on I agree a million percent. It's the same stupid delta challenge (being under leveled) they did with Crota hard and it's NOT fun I will be skipping the 35 PoE and frankly not playing any more Destiny. It's terrible RNG and matchmaking and all the other 1000 issues Bungie ignores have finally pushed me away. Enjoy the PvP Enjoy the 14 currencies that take up vault space Enjoy the terrible rewards you can't even fit into a 20 slot vault And enjoy your RNG grind. Have fun kids.

Edited by SwankyButters: 5/31/2015 8:23:53 AMTHIS is why people cheese things... It's the only way to fly, when it's the easy way to fly... This game is big old time sink...

Ran the entire 35 in 1:16 minutes. It's not hard. Wol and arc damage.
-
Im ok with how hard PoE35 is if only the rewards match the difficulty.
-
