All it needs is an Impact and Mag size buff. The fact it has 3 base perks, Arc damage, and Cursebringer is pretty exotic to me. Especially considering the other exotics in the game, I mean look at Hard Light, its perk is over penetration basically, cause ricochet rounds only succeed in damaging yourself.

  • It's not Exotic in the least. Cursebringer is just a worse Firefly. Nothing Exotic there.

  • On an AR it is, on top of the Arc damage, The 3 base perks and the unique stats. Hard Light has Over Penetration as an exotic perk (assault rifles can roll this), Richochet does nothing. SGA has all shots that miss have a chance of coming back in the magazine, not 100% chance either. Rarely do you find a HMG that doesn't outclass SGA. Invective regenerates reserve ammo like every 2 minutes. Full auto can be rolled on shotguns, with more ammo in mag. 4th Horseman has no unique perks, just three base perks. Mida you can move faster when using ADS. Mida doesn't have a hair trigger despite it saying it does. Plan C has quick swap and fast charge time as long as you press fire as soon as you swap. A number of exotics have borderline useless abilities where using a legendary would be better suited rather than using their unique perks, just cause you don't like it doesn't mean it isn't equivalent to one of these. No other AR in the game has a Cursed thrall explosion (firefly) on precision kill + 3 base perks + Arc damage, this is what makes it exotic. And increasing it's impact and mag size would make it do as much damage as other exotics. And a number of other exotics that are good just have enhanced versions of existing perks Suros Regime (Glass half full) Ice Breaker (although ammo regen it what really makes this weapon exotic) (firefly) Hawkmoon (Luck in the chamber) Truth (tracking) Necrochasm with firefly 100% of the time would be broken, that is why you don't see it. Modifying the damage of this gun has to take a lot of care because of how powerful Firefly on an Assault rifle can be. For PvE of course.

  • Hard Light sucks ass too. It needs a buff and perk change as well. Actually, Invective regenerates 4 shots every 30 seconds. Suros Regime has Glass Half Full in combination with health regeneration. I have no idea how Icebreaker isn't unique. Hawkmoon has THREE shots in a magazine that deal bonus damage, not just one. Truth sucks, I don't deny that. Firefly is only useful when the weapon isn't a bullet hose AND the Stability isn't an issue. Necrochasm has troubles with both of these.

  •
And a number of other exotics that are good just have enhanced versions of existing perks
Did you even read what I said, it seriously only takes less than a minute to actually read what I said, Invective upon looking it up is 4 shots every 20 seconds. I recant my statement about that gun having a borderline useless exotic ability. Icebreaker's Exotic perk is an enhanced version of Firefly. Suros Regime's ability is an enhanced version of Glass Half Full. Hawkmoon has an enhanced version of Luck in the chamber. Truth's Enhanced tracking actually makes it a good weapon for PvP. With the new HC rolls, you can make 2 shots in the mag deal bonus damage. And not have a 13 round clip to decrease it's probability. There are a number exotics with actually unique perks, namely every single exotic I didn't mention does. Some have ones like bonus accuracy/damage basically modifying the weapons base stats. TLW Universal Remote NLB Thunderlord Vex Mythoclast And then you have true unique abilities Thorn Gjallarhorn Dragon's Breath P&T Bad JuJu Red Death etc, pretty much every other exotic I didn't name This makes them able to be separated into four distinct groups. Borderline Useless, Modified Existing, Bonus Base Stats, Unique. Necrochasm falls under the modified existing being firefly/cursed thrall explosion. It needs a base stat increase but it is by all means and should be classified as exotic despite it's current underperformance. This is just examining the exotic perks of the particular weapons. There are a few things I didn't account for like an misplaced weapon exotic ability like NLB, UR and Vex Mythoclast.

  • Actually, Icebreaker's unique perk is that it only has one magazine and regenerates ammunition, along with enemies exploding. However, every one you stated has an enhanced version of those perks. Necrochasm has a worsened version of Firefly. So, why should a weapon be unique for a bad reason?

  •
Actually, Icebreaker's unique perk is that it only has one magazine and regenerates ammunition, along with enemies exploding.
Actually, Icebreaker has two unique perks, the one you mentioned and an enhanced version of firefly like I stated before. This actually is a version of firefly unlike Necrochasm's it seems.
Necrochasm has a worsened version of Firefly
Maybe because it isn't firefly, it is a cursed thrall explosion. Upon further examination of the weapons ability this becomes apparent. Therefore it's perk is actually unique and not a modified version of any perk. It is an explosion, doesn't mean it is firefly, that is like saying grenades and rocket launchers are also firefly. What you are suggesting isn't realistic, all that it needs is an impact/mag buff which it will likely receive when they focus on buffing again. Everyone knows this, Bungie knows this. There are plenty of other exotics with worse abilities than a Thrall explosion that I listed above. The only reason the weapon is ineffective is because it has a poor base stat allocation, that's it. Overall you just made a pointless thread suggesting your fanfiction that will never come to fruition. A thread titled "Necrochasm needs a buff" or along the likes of it doesn't need to exist, it is already apparent for months now.

  • It is a modified Firefly, whether you see it or not. Headshots have a chance to cause a Cursed Thrall explosion. That is a modified Firefly. No, it is not like saying, "grenades and rocket launchers are also Firefly". Those always cause explosions. Firefly allows for explosions from headshots from weapons that usually don't have explosive rounds. This is exactly what Necrochasm has. If it is so "apparent", why has Bungie refused to address this for nearly four months? They've quickly answered other weapons buffs/ nerfs, why is it taking so long to address this one? I'm not entirely certain Bungie really knows how vital it is.

The reason it isn't a modified version of firefly is they didn't just copy past firefly in there with Necrochasm like they did with Icebreaker. Icebreaker is a directly modified Firefly because they changed the conditions from head to everything, it is the same damage modifier as Firefly. WIth Necrochasm everything except the explosion aspect is different than firefly. Necrochasm has a copy pasted a cursed thrall explosion in replace of it. What you are saying is any weapon that has a perk that activates upon a headshot is a modified version of firefly, they don't react the same, they don't look the same. The only thing they have in common is it explodes.
If it is so "apparent", why has Bungie refused to address this for nearly four months? I'm not entirely certain Bungie really knows how vital it is.
Because it isn't vital, if you actually looked at the statistics for raid completions only roughly 20% of the community even finished them on the PS4 platform, easily it's biggest community. How many do you actually think has Necrochasm? They have a lot bigger fish to fry than a Necrochasm buff. Here is a list of stats concerning the PS4 platform that you may also find surprising. This was as of 3/25/2015. Only 31.1% of Guardians have equipped a piece of Exotic gear. Only 23.8% of Guardians have worn Legendary/Exotic armor in every slot. Only 24.2% of Guardians have earned max Vanguard marks in a week, while just 16% have maxed their Crucible marks in a week. Only 23.1% of Guardians have reached rank 3 with the Vanguard. Only 19.2% of Guardians have completed a Raid. (meaning defeating crota) Only 16.9% of Guardians have maxed out a Warlock or Hunter subclass, and just 15.2% have maxed out a Titan subclass. It will happen eventually, but currently it isn't even remotely a priority.

  • I don't understand why it is so difficult for you to understand. Here, I'll make it plain: -This perk causes explosions from headshots. What are people likely to assume it is? Firefly, despite the fact that Cursebringer does the same exact thing, except at a worsened state. Half of those statistics are completely irrelevant, but I will still use them. Assuming those are all true, then why have they bothered to fix Raid bugs and increase Crucible Mark gain? Shouldn't those have been a low priority due to the low amount of people even bothering? Furthermore, using the "few people have it" argument is futile. Remember Vex Mythoclast? Very few people had it, and Bungie jumped on it so fast to nerf it.

Firefly, despite the fact that Cursebringer does the same exact thing, except at a worsened state.
This despite your best efforts at convincing me to believe isn't a modified version of firefly it isn't, just because it causes an explosion during a headshot doesn't mean it is a modified version of firefly, that is an inaccurate statement in attempt to downplay Necrochasm's unique ability, they don't react the same, they have different damage modifiers, everything is different other than the explosion aspect. Icebreaker has a direct modified version of firefly. All of the statistics are directly from PS4 trophies http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/305g15/discussion_some_numbers_to_remind_us_how_little/
then why have they bothered to fix Raid bugs

Remember Vex Mythoclast? Very few people had it, and Bungie jumped on it so fast to nerf it.
You are unfamiliar with how the buff/nerf system works. You can't just straight up buff something, who knows if those small variables make the weapon overpowered. A lot more thinking is involved in a buff than a nerf. Nerfing is easy, because it doesn't matter if it is underperforming. It isn't causing a problem. It took them a long ass time to implement those raid changes, why did they change them? Because it was ruining the "integrity" of the game. It effected quite a bit more people than Necrochasm owners. Having a bunch of terrible weapons doesn't ruin the "integrity" of the game, every game has tons of weapons that are pointless.
Furthermore, using the "few people have it" argument is futile.
No it isn't, Necrochasm isn't causing a problem like Vex was, on top of this barely anybody has it or cares to get it. One person with vex caused a problem for six people on the enemy team every time you were in a match making game, modify this by 100-1000 that is a lot of problems one weapon is causing. That is what overpowered weapons do, they cause problems and ruin the "integrity" of the game.
Shouldn't those have been a low priority due to the low amount of people even bothering?
If it causes a problem it is going to get fixed, if it doesn't like a terrible weapon it isn't going to get fixed. This is why a number of terrible weapons aren't fixed, and a number of good weapons are nerfed. Now I believe I got my point across already, probably going to fall on deaf ears though. Feel free to have the last word on this matter. I have other stuff to attend to and don't want this to be a 7 hour argument that devolved long away from the original topic. It isn't at a loss though anyone that sees what I stated will know why it hasn't gotten a buff yet, Why it is considered an exotic despite your personal belief and exactly why it does, what can make it better etc. It seems we however have to just agree to disagree. Cheerio, Cheerio Dawlin'.
