Ways to make vodka tolerable.

So, I just turned 21 and I tired some vodka, and it burns like hell. Know how to make it not burn so much or taste like cleaning fluid? Other than the burning, I love it.

It's too strong and hard on the system. And the OP is talking BS about having built up tolerance to it. That takes years.

 • The legal drinking age here is 18:) Its good to be in Australia, except the price of everything. Back on topic, try to mix it with something, it might help not burn as much. Erbs...

 • I like to keep my vodka in the freezer. So smooth when drunk on its own. I'm more of a malt whisky man myself though. Two ice cubes and a slosh of Glenfiddich and I'm happy.

 • I don't like Red Bull, and vodka isn't my favorite either, however, when put together right, it's not bad at all.

 • Get drunk before you drink it, you won't remember the burn.

 • If you drink enough of it, you can barely taste it after a while.

Me? Pathetic for reporting you? Oh okay internet tough guy, put me down for trying to take another potential drunk driver and juvenile (yes you kid) off the streets. Drinking at a younger age like that could have consequences for the future and for your body. But then again, you probably dont' care. Oh well. if you don't want a future fine. I don't care. Just don't become addicted that you decide to drink and drive and kill an innocent bystander along the way. Stating your statment "Age 21? A little too late to be drinking? I drink at much younger age..." LULZ. You think we are all juvenile young drinkers like you? What do you think there? You think everybody has access to this stuff? Um. NO. So yes, you do phail. Little kid.
Nerd Alert. weewoooweewoo
Retarded Little Kid ALERT. LOLOLOLOLOLOL I'm out. No more arguing. I have my rights and you have yours. Peace.
Actually, no. He lacks most rights, as he is still 15. No free speech for you little guy! =D

 • Make a caribou lou. 151 rum, pineapple juice, and malibu. But really, try a bloody mary, or a chocolate martini.

 • Building up a tolerance in one night, not possible. Maybe you've gotten used to the taste, but that is slightly different. Still try putting some kahlua in with some vodka. Black Russians are one of my favorite drinks.

 • Are you trying them in shots? I suggest mix it with orange juice because shots will mainly taste stronger. I would say put around a quature of the glass with zodka and the rest with orange juice, take it in sips as well, if you gulp a big part down it will feel as it burns more. I was 14 when i first tried vodka, last year. It felt so warm down my throat....don't drink them in shots as they burn more than mixing it with orange juice or something like that. Vodka doesn't burn my throat at akk.

 • Thanks guys, and I have drank underage before. I just haven't really had anything that strong until now. I might freeze it, but for now I can drink it straight (although it tastes great with powerade and a bit of concentrated OJ mix!)

 • Eh, I've already built up a tolerance to it. I'm drinking it straight from the bottle now. It's an acquiered taste and I didn't exactly have the most expensive vodka either.

 • Just wanted to point out that vodka has some characteristics that are distinctive to this form of alcohol. Vodka is without any distinctive character, aroma, taste, or color. That being said , if there is a strong aroma then I'd guessing its a cheaper vodka . Same with taste. If its a good brand the smell and taste will be mild or nonexistent. The better brands , which as one poster mentioned , are distilled 3 and 4 times. The distillation removes impurites so the more times its distilled the smoother the vodka. One poster mentioned something about drinking it straight 1st. I agree. Most good alcohols are better drunk without diluting the experience intended. Also , with the better brands that distill more it also removes more of the congeners which are link to more intense hangovers. I know its popular to chase alcohol with soda or some other carbonated drink but personally , I am against that. I read that those beverages amplify the hangover effect because they cause the body to absorb the alcohol faster and plus its a personal pref. Just a little fyi for you. Maybe chase with juice or water. Water helping you stay hydrated. [Edited on 11.17.2008 8:44 PM PST]

 • There really is no need to make fun of someone, or redicule a person for not drinking underage. And to do so shows a huge lack of maturity, and plain retardedness. Some people dont follow the crowd and do everything that is illegal. But as for the topic I do love me some Kettle One straight up, and if I do mix it, it is either with Orange juice (Screwdriver) or my personal favorite Orange Soda.

 • Mix it with like a drink. Maybe a mix of Lemonade and Vodka would do the trick.
